  1. One of the best things about Evernote is Forums like this with helpful inventive people. Thanks for your suggestions which I'll try. However, it would be great if Evernote could solve our problem with a pin-the-note solution.
  2. Come on, Evernote, the ability to pin a note at the top of a Notebook would be hugely helpful.
  3. Agreed, GTD enthusiasts would benefit greatly if tags could be assigned to individual tasks. Fingers crossed Evernote/Bending Spoons are listening in to these conversations
  4. Thank you for your thoughts regarding tags allocated to tasks. What an ingenious group you are. Despite all the wonderful ideas and work around, I still favour being able to tag to an individual task as it seems the most straightforward solution from a user point of view.
  5. Thanks AGSteele. I think what many of us want is the ability to tag task rather than notes so that you can add a context to each task. For example in a Note you may have six different tasks eg phone Bill, Email Florence. develop plan with Sid etc Many people want to group phone calls, meetings, visits etc and tags attached to tasks would facilitate this.
  6. Another clever workaround. Thank you for sharing it. I hope Evernote are watching and more importantly, working on a process that will allow a simple way to group tasks and filter them. Tags seems like a good place to start
  7. Thanks for the update. A very neat solution. I use Todoist, so I see your logic. It would be great to be able to just switch to Evernote for all tasks like you but I need more options like "context" and "tags". Thanks for sharing your idea.
  8. Sadly, your screenshots are clipped, so it isn't easy to see how you've organised things. I'm asking for a simple way of tagging tasks rather than inventing clever workarounds, though there is fun in doing that!
  9. Thanks for this info very useful. I'm trying to figure out a way of grouping tasks so I can sort them differently from the available "Due, Assigned, Notes and my Tasks" for example group as "Today, This Week, Next Week, This Month, Next Month, Someday". Giving all tasks a due date get's close but is laborious and can be overwhelming. Tags might not be the answer for the reasons you've explained. Some way of customising or adding user-defined groups in addition to the currently available "Due Dates Assigned, My Tasks etc. might be a way forward.
  10. Yet another clever workaround and simple to execute. Thank you for sharing.
  11. Agree. We live in the hope that Evernote will add tags to tasks opening up new ways of managing projects and other things.
  12. Some very creative workarounds, but it would save all this extra work if Evernote would bring in the ability to tag tasks.☺️
  13. Interesting idea can you elaborate or give an example?
  14. Good idea. Perhaps another route is to have a notebook called Tasks. You then create a tasks page for each of your projects and place them in the Tasks notebook with backlinks to your other project notes?
  15. Thanks AGSteele. I think I'll put it forward as a development idea. Thanks for you help and time.
  16. Thanks AGsteele Just to clarify. I have a note with a number of individual tasks in it. What I want to do is convert one of those tasks into a separate note. Copying and pasting is an option but I wondered whether there is a shortcut to enable me to do this.
  17. Is it possible to convert a task into a note. I a default task list but occasionally a task turns into a small project so I want to convert it into a Note. Is this possible are there any workarounds?
  18. Great suggestions let's see what our colleagues at Evernote come up with. They have been strangely quiet over the summer!! 🛶🏖️
  19. Understood. We'll just have to wait for the Evernote software engineers to hear our pleas and sort out tags in tasks.
  20. With the new "assign a task" feature does that help you with your problem and reduce the need for tags?
  21. I would also like to be able to tag individual tasks rather than simply tagging each note. I use a system whereby I have tags assigned to Today, This Week, Next Week et cetera. Having the facility to attach a tag to each individual task would allow me to simply search for the tasks I have this week or next week making life a lot simpler. It would also offer an alternative to my current task manager. I am really looking forward to the development of new features for tasks so that, like many other Evernote users, I can dispense with a separate Task Manager. What do other people think?
  22. I guess we can all think of things we used to use that were simple, easy and reliable and then something changed and made life a little more complicated. The quill, the fountain pen, the biro and note taking tablets. If you businesses stand still they get overtaken and eventually disappear. Who remembers Word Perfect, Locoscript or the Psion 5? When Evernote started Roam, Notion, Bear didn't exist. Evernote has to improve if it is to survive and to be fair many of the improvements that we are now seeing have been demanded by Evernote users themselves. At the end of the day there's always the biro and the notebook.
  23. I like the surprise of seeing another update in my inbox. Maybe as an "early adopter" type it just feeds my appetite. We've waited a long time to see the improvements which are now being announced and I for one don't want to wait for longer.
  24. Good to see a response from Evernote at last.
  25. Just so people know it is possible to run Evernote 10 without access to "Preferences" alongside the "legacy" version which still has access to the Preferences. I hope that's useful. Heres the link to the help file. https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/360052560314-Install-an-older-version-of-Evernote
