Short answer: No.
Longer answer: The redesign introduced a new… we'll call it 'opinion'… on how much white space/padding each note gets. As you're seeing, each note now takes up more space than it used to, even in earlier builds of Evernote 10. I'm afraid that there's not much more you can do (I suppose you could try zooming out by pressing Cmd-minus to zoom out further, but that can result in some insanely small text. If you're on Twitter/𝕏 and think it might help, a lot of the folks from Bending Spoons are pretty active on it.I hope that helps! Sorry that I don't have a better answer for you.
In complete agreement. Seems that space is not so well used. I have also got to the zoom use and not completely satisfied...

Just be careful where you put the emoji. If it's at the beginning, you'll have a hard time filling in the TAG in the note, because you'd have to start with the Emoji for it to even offer it to you to click on...
That's why I only have it on Tags that are nested Tags as the main structure, and I never use those directly in notes...
Consider using at the end of a word...Thks @ferol I was trying it and, as a matter of fact, even before reading this post I used them at the end. In my case because having a symbol at the beginning it altered the position in the tags view.

Why don´t just implement the option to select which behaviour we want as default when clicking the icon? Giving choices to users keeps them happy. It is not rewriting the apps code, right? Why the need of workarounds for such primary stuff?
2 clicks when before I only needed 1 Getting used to it but more clicks = bad usability.

Some of my observations on your Obsidian table
Why export limited? with plugin is possible: dakdown, html, pdf, docx....
Kanban - there is 2 plugins for this
Colored text - plugin (but html inside text... but I chose not to use it. I only set the colored text for the headers)
mark down formating - is largely reduced by blocking this in css snippets. I use it largely as wysiwing...
tags organisation - with some plugins almost like in Evernote
sharing - possible free own website pulbishing (it's not as fast as evernote share online one note, but it can be worked out)
@ferol Great, I had references to plugins but they were not reflected on the rating. Taking plugins in account, Obsidian rating will get higher 😁.

My decision: Evernote Profesional + Obsidian (free own sync on PC) combination..
😉 yes, I am also thinking of exploring combinations with EN.

And my decision for now: Keeping with Evernote new version for daily work (but still considering alternatives)...

OK, I have also "taken the plunge" to Windows version. Here are my first impressions, updating a table I had posted before. This refers to the Free Version
Features not present in New Version or better managed in Legacy Version (Free Account)New or better features in New Version (Free Account)-
no top toolbar 4 shortcuts
-
(way) faster then new versiongenerally fast (but sometimes freezes) -
no color tags
-
filters take too much space when applied
-
two clicks to open EN from taskbar icon (really annoying)
-
hover on tags does not open search tags, we have to click
-
Search Tags keyboard shortcut not available Legacy was Shift + Alt + T
-
Tags icon should be after shortcuts not at the bottom
-
divider less visible
-
too much options only in More editing toolbar except in expanded note
-
less fonts
-
less font colours
-
less settings control
-
notes in local computer, not only online (works offline if logged in before and syncs after); solved: there is option to keep local copy of Evernote database -
more visible space (snippet view 6 vs 4 notes; side list 24 vs 15 notes)partially solved: by View zoom out setting
-
nice colors fresh green and blue
-
more highlight colours
-
strikethrough completed checklist items (although no option to go to bottom of list)
-
recent notes list
-
editable keyboard shortcuts
-
embed youtube videos
-
collapsible left side bar, still in doubt either to
-
keep visible: direct access tags but less space interface and less visible tags
-
or click to open search tags: need to find tag icon and hover or click
-
collapsible headers
-
uniform interface in multiples OSs
-
taks in notes
- 2

My experience with the migration of nested tags is not 100%. Some of them unnested...

I have been a HUGE tag guy. All my notes had more than 5 tags on average and I am a firm believer in tags vs. notebooks. I believe tags is the new way of thinking vs. the folder structure we all have been used.
With Notion, I realized I could use @ symbol and then use it within the note so now I could cross reference everything. Basically, I had to change the way I thought about notes, and when I figured out that these "pages" (notes) were actually kind of websites where I can do links, it opened my eye to many possibilities.
In essence, now my old tags are "pages" in databases or pages in Notion. So if I used to have a "Bank of America" or a "Statement" tag, now those live as individual pages or items in databases and I can still access all of those without having to remember where things are.
This was the biggest challenge I had to overcome.
@TK0047 We seem to think alike :-). Have you tried to import tags from Evernote?
-
This tag problem is one of the things that kept me from moving straightforward to Notion. It ticks most of the other features...
It also does not have graph view but that is something that EN also does not have.

I don't know if it was already referred but this site looks amazing for comparing not taking apps. Really fantastic. Filtering comparing etc.
Only eventual catch: developed by company related to Amplenote but they disclose it.
So many hours I took comparing aps in a table with AI help included that could have been avoided.
My dimensions are very similar to them. Of course you don't get the experience of use only presence or absence of capacities.

so far i haven't really created any databases in Notion. i have migrated most of my EN notes (4000+) to Notion.
A stack in EN is a page in Notion (eg "courses" on the left). Under it is a "database" (ie a EN notebook - the middle column, "The Digital and the Analog"). Each of the columns in the database is a page (ie note - right hand column). Notion created these databases automatically when i imported my EN stacks and notebooks.
For me this is enough (and it doesn't cost $130/year). I doubt i'll be creating any new fancy databases in the near future. What about tag importing?
Using Tags in Notion does not seem simple. As Ferol referred before. Looked up some solutions to try

I think when all the users that first were dragging their feet and are now hedging their bets have left, the impact will be negligible. There is a small group who will not be convinced, no matter what is done. This is quite normal, so please move on, nothing to be seen here.
Personally I feel honored by the insight that I don't post anything useful to them (and if I do, be assured it is not intentional).
My interest is the future, not a group of grumpy left behinds.
For those who want to contribute there is an interesting initiative by @ferol to collect and evaluate issues and features, and make them available to EN management. This makes sense and is worth investing some time and ideas.
@ferol@PinkElephant could link that initiative?

One of the musts of adopting another app going from Evernote, having a lot of notes (15 years), is the ability do import (including tags) notes (in my case I have only one Notebook, I make all filtering with tags and saved searches). These are some I am considering that have that ability:
- Notion
- Obsidian
- Joplin
- Amplenotes
- Has anyone tried it, would like to share the experience and give some tips?
- Does anyone know how other apps like Capacities can import form EN? From what I see it is still in development

Have fun with my list.... 😅
I've already stopped testing alternatives.Evernote clearly wins for my purposes, despite various things I like and would like, and things that have worked in the past and no longer work, or things that goof up...
many from this list I personaly tested during the last yearI enjoyed it and learned to make better use of Evernote itself... because those other systems gave me different uses and ideas. So I don't consider it a waste of time
This is a development worth watching:
This is rather not for me...(or untested)Interesting, maybe I will reach the same conclusion. But still trying out alternatives..

In my shortlist for testing: Notion, Capacities, AnyType, Mem.Ai. Looking only for free(mium) versions. Discarded Obsidian and Joplin because they demand Mark Down editing (Joplin has also a WYSIWYG editor but limited). Oh, and I had already come across Toolfinder site and that post.

Options as a Legacy Evernote Free user. What to do?-
(if possible) Keep using Legacy version and back up notes manually
-
Move to New version and adapt it to my use
-
Find and move to another app if successfully replaces Evernote (or even has added value)
-
Use Evernote and other app
I have been exploring alternative apps. First conclusion: Boy, so many things my good old Evenote is not able to do...

You left out something on the right side of the table: a common experience and interface on multiple platforms. What enabled the greater number of fonts (and maybe colors too) on the older version on some platforms was that it used fonts specific to those platforms (mainly Windows and Mac). Those fonts were copyrighted and couldn't be included in the mobile or Web apps, resulting in differences of appearance on different platforms that were at best unpleasant, and sometimes impaired functionality. The tradeoff for getting the common experience across platforms was fewer fonts, but fonts (including colors, formatting, and heading styles) that appeared consistent wherever you looked at your notes.
The loss of local, unsynced notes and notebooks also seems to reflect an emphasis on one of Evernote's greatest strengths, its availability for work across multiple devices on multiple operating systems.
Thks @Dave-in-Decatur, right about common interface on multiple platforms. My experience is only Windows + Android.
One thing that gets on my nerves is the less viewable space. And some things/automatisms I could do (only or better) in the Legacy app . But these are my habits, and everybody has them but they may differ. Nevertheless, that undoubtedly lowers my evaluation of the app.

Looking for Evernote Alternatives…. Suggestions? (CLARIFIED MY QUESTION)

A quick note
One of the things I am loving in the new Evernote: the collapsing headers, helps navigating long notes, almost no need for TOC.
