One great feature in Notion is the ability to create a dashboard which links back to the information you want to access - for example when studying different topics. I have multiple notebooks within a stack, and I can see them in shortcuts/sidebar, but I have to scroll to find the one I want as I have so many.  A way to create a table format within a note that would contain backlinks to these notebooks would be really useful as I could access what I want with one click. Backlinks to notes is fantastic, but could you please add backlinks to notebooks?

I just had a note lose half its content too.....and duplicate itself - now both versions a re missing different pieces. Utterly ridiculous that even whilst raising prices people continue to have issues with such basic things.

Apologies if it seems that I am splitting hairs. Yes, technically both have no cost attached to them, but both are limited to 5 GB of storage, which isn't a whole heck of a lot of storage nowadays.

Whilst that is strictly true, most students and a significant % of the working population will have access to 365 via their university/workplace. I have certainly never had to pay a subscription whilst a student or whilst working. I do pay for icloud storage - but the price is minuscule for 200GB. We will have to wait and see how this pans out - my subscription is still affordable for this year but for many it wont be. I already have a few colleagues swap over entirely to apple notes due to the price hike. Quite a few have also jumped to Notion (although I personally find this too complex for my needs). Hopefully they will be left with enough customers to actually keep going over the next few years. Its less about retaining people I would think - its going to be difficult to attract new customers to the platform with such high prices when things like apple notes and one note are constantly improving their offerings for no additional cost.

Yes, if you use it extensively and it adds value, then its probably worth it. For me, not so much. I had a lot of issues with the new version so I mainly moved to apple notes and just kept the subscription going just in case. I expect a lot of people will be like me though - not using it enough to pay a substantial increase, especially while onenote and apple notes are free.

The original post for this thread was about the new Personal and new Professional subscription plans (2021). (Personal was the same cost as non-discounted Premium, Professional was new and cost more.)

In the most latest price increases announcement for Personal and Professional increases, they did not mention legacy plan subscription increases, but I wouldn't be surprised to see those coming.

Also, since Evernote is under new management, anything can happen really. But at least one thing is for sure -- your legacy subscription price has recently gone up or is going up soon (and will perhaps go up even more again).

Its seems like I havent had a price increase since at least 2020 anyway. 29.99 sterling. Its not due to renew for a while, but for my use case I wouldnt pay more than that. I can do most of what I need on apple notes for free. I just havent really gotten around to moving everything and EN has been useful when I need something cross platform.

Im still on evernote plus - is that just going to disappear? Ive mainly switched over to apple notes but left my subscription running. Will probably close it if theres a massive jump up tbh.

This is something that notion does really well. I find it too complex as a system for me overall, but EN is behind in not having a toggle function. Its now present in a lot of note taking apps and is insanely useful for decluttering and things like active recall.

If this is the case, how are you connected then to the internet ? I know of many work PCs that automatically link up to the corporate network by a VPN tunnel, and then go to the internet through the company firewall - which in the end is the idea behind it.

This means that the connection is "Me - my internet - company - company firewall - THE internet". This means more interacting programs and an addition of communication  time, because all the individual elements add up.

Maybe you could send some information about this question.

(Remark: I think you do the right thing by not installing an app with a local database on your work equipment. I would set the browser used to clean out the cache when I leave the EN account.)

Im having the exact same issues - actually its been continuous for I guess a year now.  Im not using a VPN, just my mac connected to internet. Have good speeds and no connectivity issues and no problems with other services, so this appears to be an evernote issue that they havent managed to fix. Its extremely frustrating. Ive mainly moved to apple notes nowadays, but occasionally pop back to do certain things and just now had to delete 7 of the same note.  Previously Ive had upwards of 20 copies of the same notes.

Hi all. About to purchase either an M1 (most likely) or M2 mac book air.  Would 8Gb suffice with EN?  I have no experience  with the M1 chips and how these computers handle life.  Essentially EN, email, calendar, goodnotes, MS word, MS powerpoint and safari/chrome with multiple tabs would be running at the same time. Nothing more intensive than that. Its just Ive noticed EN is a bit resource hungry on the old machine - but as I mentioned, I have no idea how this compares to the newer M1s.  Id really rather not pay for 16GB RAM if I dont need it.  Are people finding 8GB sufficient to keep everything running snappy?

Personally I have more than one client open as well - but due to my use cases, I do not touch the same notes. No duplicates !

I only use the desktop app on mac so there should be no issue determining what needs to sync. Yet I get upwards of 40 copies of notes sometimes.  Hard to believe this company is actually charging people when it cant fix a very basic issue that they apparently created themselves with V10. I mean it's been over a year now.

Well, they have spent all of their time since the release of V10 adding useless ***** like tasks (which will never live up to the functionality of an actual established task manager) and not repairing basic functionality like copy/paste of images - so I wont hold my breath for major improvements.

However, it is completely possible to work as you have always done with the functions you have always used via the software you have been using. The newer version of Evernote is defintely a work in progress. If you need the functions that you have always had until now then Evernote offers what they now call the Legacy version. You can do all the scribbling and note taking that you have ever done as before.

Since there are challenges for you with the v10 software then Legacy is the way to go.  For sure, Legacy will, eventually, disappear but not yet and by the time it does we're all expecting that these outstanding issues will have been addressed.

This issue has been present since Oct/Nov of last year. How long do you expect people to wait to have such a basic function restored?  I too have documents with multiple images that I need to be able to move between programs. Yes, dragging to desktop is an option, but seriously - that only works if you have a few images. My entire desktop is full of images now which I then have to go and delete, which is yet another waste of my time.  Thankfully apple notes is a far more functional entity and I am slowly transferring everything across.  Evernote has had its chance. It blew it. And I say that as a paying customer of almost a decade.

Same issue since the latests update on mac. Just when you think it couldn't get any worse, somehow they manage to break something else.

Yeah its ridiculous. Its really basic functionality. Takes twice as long to do things this way and my desktop is just cluttered with loads of screen shots. Rubbish experience for an appp that should help you improve productivity. Hopefully they reverse this idiotic decision before my renewal comes up. Sometimes I wonder if anyone that works at EN actually uses their own product.....or maybe they do and thats why it takes so darn long to get anything sorted

So I have played around with Apple notes today - Its actually easy to import in from EN and seems to work pretty well for me. Just a heads up to apple users that it is a viable alternative. No tagging feature if thats something you require though, and I dont see a web clipper, but thats no something I have ever used.

We have always been able to copy/paste entire notes, figures included into other programs like office. Who on earth thought it would be a good idea to remove such basic functionality. Bring it back please. It has completely disrupted work flow many of us.

You can't easily copy paste a content especially with image to another documents, you can copy a text then paste, but for image you need to manually download the image then attach to the documents.

What do they mean by this exactly - Its hardly a feature.  I mean its a pretty basic computing function to be able to copy and paste something. I like evernote, and would rather not change to something else as I feel it is the best available - but this is ridiculous and has completely broken my workflow. It now takes much longer to get things done - utter nonsensical for them to state that they are considering adding it as a 'feature'.

The major issue for me is that they have released something that is almost unusable and riddled with bugs. I can no longer switch between notebooks without errors, half the time I open it the notebooks are empty, and they have removed the basic functionality of being able to drag/copy images - which I somewhat expect (and hope) is a bug. Thats not acceptable for a product that people are paying money for. It should have been rolled back by the company. Its been a long time now and issues that affect the basic stability and functionality of the app still have not been repaired.

I've also been directed to another thread where others are reporting the same problem. I would expect with so many having this problem, that Evernote will address it quickly.

Evernote support had me delete the Evernote file in %appdata%, reboot my machine, and open Evernote again. At the moment, I've not yet seen any problems other than a small "burp".

So do you know if they keep backups at evernote? Because my stomach hit the floor today when notebooks started opening and were empty, and then I just couldn't access them later. I would definitely agree this product is not ready for general use. It simply shouldn't have been released yet. One things that has made me a loyal customer over the years has been reliability - but now this has definitely changed. I'm going to try the legacy version for now I guess, but realistically when you are paying for a product you dont expect to have to be trying to fix issues caused by the company.

Im having the exact same problem on a mac in the desktop version. Im really starting to worry now that my data is not safe with evernote. All of my medical school notes are in there. I have an exam right after the holidays and I'm now having trouble accessing them. I have never ever had an issue like this on evernote before - which was the main reason I stayed with this platform. It might be that I now just need to move to apple notes or even just to MS Office for peace of mind

I make all of my medical school notes in Evernote and then copy paste certain bits into anki to make revision flashcards. Now I cant copy the images - they just show as broken images links when pasted into anki. This last update has really tested me - from empty notes everynow and again and other issues, but this might be the final straw as it has broken my whole workflow pattern. Has anyone else noticed this? Is it a setting somewhere I can change?

Im having the same problem - it all looks fine on screen - no oversized images; but when I print to PDF the images are huge - taking up multiple pages. Also, the note titles dont print. I tried on the windows pc at work and this problem does not occur.....just happens on my mac. Has anyone solved this issue? Having just converted to evernote, i now think I will have to move again if this isnt fixed as I need to keep backups of my notes in pdf!
