  1. Until now i thought I was the only user who wanted a way to prevent searches from picking up notes from specific notebooks and/or tags. Just saw this topic for the first time. Based on reading the many postings in this topic, the "-tag:ARCHIVE" solution appears to be the easiest one to use -- and it can be added to shortcuts (where you then add to that shortcut).

+1 for me for the archive feature.

    • If you save the -notebook:name search and put it in Shortcuts you can easily access it there.By running the saved search and then clicking into the search field you can quickly add your search terms.

This was a good suggestion. I hadn't known I could save a search into a shortcut (I've been a paid subscriber for a number of years but haven't really taken advantage of or learned many of the features of EV).  I actually made my shortcut a bit more focused: "-notebook:xx -tag:yy"; and then I add what I'm searching for at the end.  Works nicely.   Thank you.

  3. I have a related question. I too want to exclude the contents of a specific notebook.  But I want to exclude that notebook by default, always. This is a notebook that contains magazines I own that I have downloaded. They always pop up in my searches and I really don't want to have to enter "-notebook..." for every single search that I do. Is there a solution for this in Evernote?

    Thanks, Joe.

I find it sad that posts like this and so many others in the forums post suggestions, and then denigrate the product if there suggestion is not accepted and implemented immediately.

I'll admit there's no impact to me; I'm an apple user with no access to SD cards.

I don't think we're denigrating the product, per se.  At least, I am not.  I really like Evernote and am still recommending it to whomever asks. But this particular problem is really a major nuisance to me (and to so many others).  I wish the Evernote folks would at least respond to this thread.  Tell us you are working on it, not working on it, will work on it, will not work on it.  Then we can move on, etc.

As for OneNote, I have to use that product at work.  While it does work, I don't care for the interface (of course, I am admittedly biased in favor of EN).  And, as far as I know, it won't work on my Android devices.  I really, really, really, do NOT want to switch to another product.  So I will continue to live with this EN deficiency.
