  1. I just went to Help --> Check for Updates, and it says 10.58.8 is the newest version (see screen shot). Maybe it's a Mac vs Windows thing? If not, how do I get the newest version, if not through "Check for Updates"?
  2. I believe I have the same, or at least a similar problem. Frequently, though not always, Evernote will freeze up when I am trying to move notes from one notebook to another. The method that I use to initiate the move does not seem to matter. A dialogue box saying the note is moving will pop up (see attached image). If I wait a *really* long time, the note will move, so the app isn't exactly frozen, but it is faster to ⌘Q, then restart the app. It will then usually work for a bit before freezing up again, and then I ⌘Q again, restarting the cycle. It is super annoying, so if anyone knows a fix, I would appreciate it. Using Evernote 10.58.8 on an M2 Max MacBook Pro. I've had this problem for several months.
  3. I almost always scan receipts or other documents using the "scan" button, highlighted in the attached image with a red circle. I have the Create button in Evernote on my iPhone set to Orbs, and the Orbs I've chosen are (1) Note, (2) Scan, and (3) Camera. So when I have a receipt to scan, I tap the scan icon, scan the receipt, then save the note. Occasionally, I will already be in a note and use the little camera button.
  4. Since 2015 I have scanned all my receipts into Evernote. I use the camera on my iPhone to scan the receipt as a document in Evernote, then I throw the receipt away. Then at the end of the week (or month if things get too busy), I go through my receipts and record expenses into my bookkeeping software. Lately, some of the scans disappear. It doesn't happen a lot. Maybe one in 10 scans. But there will be a note titled "Snapshot", but then there will be no content. The scan is gone. And since I threw away the receipt, I have to go line by line through credit card statements to figure out what is missing. This is such a problem I have started looking at ways to migrate from Evernote to some other app. I am so tired of all the bugs. This bug(s) sometimes manifests where the note on my iPhone will still have the scan, but no amount of syncing will get it to show up on my desktop app. On one note, the scan appears in the app preview card in card view but won't be there when you look at the note. I have tried deleting and reinstalling the Evernote app on my phone several times, which sometimes resolves bugs, but I am still having this problem.
  5. I want to agree with this complaint/suggestion. I am really disappointed with the update. I use Evernote for many things, but one of the things I do most frequently is scan receipts. It is difficult to articulate exactly what is wrong with the new version. At first I assumed that I just needed to get used to the changes, but it has now been a while, and I am still really unhappy. It feels more difficult to use, seems to take more steps, and really slows down my workflow. The best way I can describe the problem is to say that it feels like the app is trying really hard to do more, better, but all that effort is going to waste and is ultimately just getting in my way. For example, the old version of Evernote could automatically detect the receipt and take a picture, but I never used that feature because it was slow. Instead I could just tap the shutter button when the shaded green box was close enough to matching what I wanted to scan, and it would consistently capture exactly what I needed, and then I could move on. The new version does auto detection much faster. I can see why the engineers who worked on that would be proud of it. But it still isn't faster than if I just tap the shutter button in the old app, and invariably when I do that in the new app I end up getting two pictures. Also, it is trying so hard to be quick about the auto-detection that it frequently takes a photo of random stuff on my desk before I can tap the button to save the note. Then I have to take several more steps to delete that extraneous photo. Maybe some future version of auto-detect will be so good and so fast that I would love it, but right now I just wish I could go back to the old version. There are more problems with the overall workflow, but it is harder to be specific. There seem to be more steps to scan a receipt. More tapping. If you imagine you have a stack of receipts that you need to scan to separate notes, I think the old version of Evernote did it faster and with fewer actions on the part of the user. I also prefer to use Scannable for scanning documents to PDF. It is way better than the scanner in Evernote if I want to create a PDF I can download and email to someone. But for the simple little things I just want to scan to Evernote where it shall stay, Scannable is overkill, and I really just want the old version of Evernote back. Or for the clever engineers to figure out how to make the next version as efficient as the previous version.
