  1. Hi,

I really like the new layout and overall upgrade but there are some raw edges.

    bugs:

    • I confirm that deleting does not move the icon into trash. Trash is present by the way.
    • the app sometimes crashes, I've sent report of that
    • on a bit slow wifi the app kinda lags, non unusable but it let me feel it depends too much on instant connection to EN servers (solution: queue changes?)

    regression:

    • i can't rename a tag anymore. Please add that in the next update, cause it's pointless to focus on tags and forget such a feature

    still missing

    • i can't see nested tags, like I do on desktop.

Question: what's the default background sync interval? Just out of curiosity, pull to sync works fine.

  2. Hi everyone,

I've thought about adding shortcuts as an item in Mac (top) menu bar, like 'Bookmarks' in Chrome or Firefox. It could help gaining some screen space by making them quickly accessible while keeping the sidebar hidden. This would be really nice especially using the Side List View on little screen laptops (e.g. rMB, 13" rMBP) as you'd see more details in columns (tags, etc.).

    Cheers,

    Frank

  3. Today we're releasing Evernote for Mac 6.1.1.  This is a small bug fix release that fixes a few issues.

    1) Fixes one of the top crashing issues that occurs when using Evernote on El Capitan, Apple's next major operating system, and quitting while in full screen view.

    2) Fixes an issue where shared notebooks could get in a state on first set up where no notes would appear.

We didn't make any changes to the note editor or any other major features.

You can download the release from here.

Let me know if you see any new issues.

Hi, issue 1) is still present on (stable) released OS X 10.11. It happens 10 out 10 times I quit the app or close the latest window in full screen mode.

Some more info to help you: I've updated OS X from 10.10.5 and Evernote 6.1.1 was already installed before the update.

Waiting for a fix, thank you!

  4.

I love Markdown and it is great to see some puzzles of this in the editor. But I could live without such things if I got the possibilty to structure my text. Most important for this thing is to have headlines and sub-headlines for long texts. Would be great to have #H1, ##H2 and so on - but any button of "Heading", "Paragraph" or any font template would be okay.

You have had such templates in iOS Evernote (2 years ago) ...

Thanks - this is absolutely on the roadmap, but not in this release.  Thanks for the feedback and stay tuned.

    Hi guys.

If it's not planned for next beta of the evernote editor, are you going to support just some of markdown?

  5. Hi guys, Evernote is a great life tool for me and this focus back to the editing are is a really nice shift.

One thing I miss is the capability to write anywhere in the note like I can in OneNote. I mean without constrains, not like we have invisible lines. This would be great for cross-platform, mind mapping and freely take notes with a pen on an ipad/android tablet.

Hope you consider this as well.

    Cheers!

  6. I have installed the new version of evernote on my phone Galaxy S3, but reminder widget don't work.

I click remainder button on evernote widget and I insert remainder and date, then I click Ok, but no remainder is created.

    Can you help me?

    Thanks

    Luigi

    Same here, too!

It happens on both devices: galaxy nexus running official android 4.1.2 and nexus 7 running official android 4.2.2.

Please fix it, that widget is so useful!

  7. guys I've got in contact with the evernote support. They told me to install a beta version of the 4.3 android client. That version solved the bug mentioned in this thread but there were also more minor bugs. Yesterday the 4.3 public (stable) was released and I've updated. I can tell you as far as I can see the minor bugs of its beta and unsupported formatting crashes have been fixed also on Nexus 7.

Please, try and let me now.

  8. Hi guys, I'm experiencing app crash when try editing notes containing unsupported formatting on my Nexus 7. Android version is 4.1.1 stock from Google. You can see the bug in this video

    .

I've tried to uninstall Evernote, delete app data, reinstall, resync, check/uncheck use offline searching in advanced settings. No way. The bug is still there.

I can confirm it doesn't matter if notes are created on mac or windows (I use both).

Web clipped notes (clipped through Evernote's own browser extensions) are involved, too.

Interesting enough, everything works fine on my HTC Desire S which runs a built-from-souce version of Android jellybean 4.1.1.

Both have the latest Evernote version: 4.2.2 public.

    Please help me fixing that.

  9. @mrossk, @GollyJer,

The data loss, is indeed a separate issue.

Let me rephrase how you get this problem so I can get a clear idea of the issue:

1 - open from within the app, a note with some unsupported formatting.

    > the note view displayed an update version of the note

    > what specific formatting do you usually use?

    2 - tap edit

    > the note opens in edit mode, the content is updated

3 - select a section of the note to edit

    > the content appears at the bottom for editing

    > what specific content do you usually edit?

4 - tap done at the bottom to validate this change

    > the content is updated in the note, the editing dialog is closed

5 - repeat this operation with different part of the note

    > how many parts do you usually edit?

    > do you observe that the content is updated each time?

6 - tap done in the note editor to send all your changes

    > the editor closes, a note uploaded notification appear.

7 - reopen the edited note in view mode

    > the changes don't appear

Please tell me also if you have reported this problem to customer support so I can collect the technical informations.

    Thank you.

    Post #1:

I have tried to reproduce it step by step from 1 to 6 but I could not reproduce the problem.

Good catch mrossk. I updated Step 3. I forgot to add the part where the user clicks the Edit Button.

Now I have tried this test again. I have created a note on windows (the word "test" and then a separator line and a second line with "test"), synced it first in win and then on android until it arrived on android, go to edit mode in andorid, closed the edit mode, added in win second separator line and a third line with the word "test" and synced win and android again until the note arrived again on androiod but then suddenly when I go to edit mode on android I see the older version of the note with only 2 lines of "test".

Yup. This is the exact bug I'm seeing. Thanks for verifying.

I lay on my sofa a few minutes ago and wanted to edit an evernote-note on my android again. Knowing about this bug and to be sure, I compared the text in view-mode with the text in edit-mode and there were huge differences. This note is a few months old. So this error is happening since a long time. I went through other notes and also saw differences between view-mode and edit-mode.

I deactivated offline-notebooks but this has not helped.

This means that many android-users are losing data day by day without knowing about it since a long time.

Evernote, you must make a public warning as soon as possible about this so that the users can go through their old notes and check if they are already affected with missing data. Even for the people that do not read this forum.

The case of the missing attachments in the last weeks has only affected specific beta-versions but this is the productive version.

You must infom your android-users about this otherwise you act irresponsible.

Today I have completely uninstalled Evernote on Android and deleted the whole Evernote-folder (many hundred files because of the offline-notebooks).

After this I have installed Evernote again and configured all offline-nobebooks again. After a few hours of downloading all offline-notes I made a further test:

The bug in my post #16 is still reproducable so you can exclude a corrupted database as a reason for this bug.

Hi guys. I'm experiencing the same problem on my Nexus 7. Strangely it works like a charm on my HTC Desire S running a custom ROM. Today Evernote versions is 4.2.2 public on Android. I can confirm it doesn't matter if notes are created on mac or windows (I use both). In addition to this, the solution gave in post #12 is not appliable in my case as the edit mode crashes as you can see in this video I've uploaded

I've tried to uninstall Evernote, delete app data, reinstall, resync, check/uncheck use offline searching in advanced settings. No way. The bug is still there.

Unsupported formattings BUG is really frustrating as web clipped notes (clipped through Evernote's own browser extensions) appears as notes containing web info and so the unsupported formatting.

This BUG is still alive, please fix it.

  10. FWIW, I think a lot of people don't realize how powerful the EN search engine is. At least initially. It's pretty powerful & amazing.

Some of us know exactly how powerful the search capabilities are, and others are (maybe painfully) aware of where the limitations are. :) But this case was pretty straightforward, and the Knowledge Base pretty much covers it: https://support.ever...earch-operators

Really thank you! I've clipped that page. Now I use EN more efficiently.

Wow! Actually immediate! Fantastic forum. Thank you guys. Both solutions work. Sorry about the 'BUG' flag in the title, I'm going to remove it. I'm just beginning to discover how powerful Evernote is.

I played a little and, as a new feature, it would be great if there were shortcut in search string, IE:

notebook:home tag:receipt or notebook:"notebook named with more than one word" tag:"more than a word tag"

    would be

nb:home, tag:receipt or nb:notebook named with more than one word, tag:more than a word tag

Regarding your suggestion, I use text expanders for this.

Thank you too for the suggestion. I've read the topic. Now I'm looking for a good text expander on android.

Anyway it would be great if it was a built-in feature of the client, so you can write special commands expanded or not.

  11. Welcome.....

Select advanced search below the standard search box. Then you have the option to select specific notebooks and tags.

Tags are global. Which is a good thing, IMO. That means I can have my a/c receipt tagged "receipt" regardless if I plop it into my "bills" notebook or my "home" notebook. In order to refine your search, you would need to specify the notebook. IIRC, notebook specifier must be the first thing in the search bar. IE:

    notebook:home tag:receipt

    Edit: sniped by Mike.

  12. Hi, this is my first post. I'm Frank, an happy evernote user.

Since I reordered some stuff, my evernote account now has 650+ notes and 100+ tags.

On Android app, although I have the latest version available from the Play Store, there's no way to use tags as a filter in a specific notebook. So when I select a tag/multiple tags, instead of showing tagged notes of the selected notebook, it shows all notes with that tag there are in ALL notebooks.

Don't know if it is the same also on other supported mobile platforms. 'Tag as a filter per notebook' has always worked on desktop clients. I use both Windows and Mac OS X versions.

    I'd appreciate your help.

    Frank.
