  1. My offline notebooks on iOS totalled 23.75GB in size across slightly more than 16k notes. Recently, the app started behaving, oddly: slowly, and almost erratically. I decided last night that I would remove the app and data, and re-synchronize all of the notebooks to be offline again. I started the process of reinstalling Evernote and making everything available offline at 7 PM yesterday. Previously, such an endeavor would take several days at a minimum, often at least a week, and involve much tension and anger. Imagine my surprise and delight, seeing that everything was available offline as of 5:30am today! Whatever has been done to repair the insanely, unacceptably atrocitiously slow synchronization of offline notebooks - and notes - that team deserves medals and pay raises!
  2. Thank you, @PinkElephant for your reply. I found by experimenting a bit on this issue with the iOS app that after applying my predefined template, that after the template appears - tapping the checkmark in the upper left-hand corner allows me to start editing. Perhaps that is the step I was missing - but I am glad to have found a way forward.
  3. Hello. When I create a new note and apply a saved template to the new note, it then becomes un-editable. The behavior is similar to opening an existing note, and not tapping the edit button (if you have note protection enabled), resulting in an inability to make changes to said existing note. Or... am I supposed to tap the checkmark at the top left first, and then make edits? Thanks.
  4. Something interesting happened today - thought it was me, but apparently not. I am trying to use the v10.20.4 desktop application - it sure is different! But I began a search with the text: -tag:"bills due" -tag:"bills paid" which worked. I saved the search to the shortcuts group, and ran it, only to find ... nothing. I realized Evernote had changed the search to (literally): (tag:"bills due" -tag:"bills paid)" and I cannot see how to make Evernote use the search text I created. The saved search sync'd with the iOS app, and that altered search text doesn't work there, either. I posted this earlier, but not here until I realized the application really is broken. Thoughts? (thank you)
  5. Whe Thank you. Yes, 10.20.4. I'm thinking opening a ticket would be a good next step.
  6. Thank you. Something interesting happened 5 minutes ago - I am trying to use the v10.x desktop application - it sure is different! 7. I liked learning about excluding notebooks, but I would like to save a search in the iOS app that is: tag:"bills due" -tag:"bills paid" But I don't see a way to do this - help?
  8. Hello, Is it possible to select multiple notes to create a table of contents note from the selection? Irs easily-enough done in Windows... Thanks.
  9. @gazumped, Thank you. That thought occurred to me as well - but that didn't solve the problem, though I'd hoped it would.
  10. When viewing/editing a note and choosing "Open in New Window" from the "..." menu of the note, the new window launches mostly off-screen. It becomes necessary to invoke the Move command of the window to bring the note window into a useful space on my monitor. When done with the note, I close it, and when re-opening or opening a new/different note in a separate window, they too appear mostly off-screen, rather than retaining the last-used position of the previous note window. Had anyone else experienced this? ======== Edit (again): I'm using v10.19.2. forgot to add that I opened a support ticket which was closed, the tech writing that is a known issue when Evernote is opened on a second monitor connected to a laptop. But they're closing my ticket. Sigh.
  11. Hello, Good afternoon. I installed ver10.14 when it became available, and it seemed alright, no major hiccups. I had spent weeks several months back downloading offline notebook content to my iPhone, back when notebook downloads would take forever. Unfortunately I had assumed that offline synching was still current - so two days ago when we were in a mountainous region, I unexpectedly found that several notes I needed were not accessible - because offline notebook synching had fallen seriously behind over time, and I had not thought I would need to monitor that aspect of the app. What a mistake... So I decided to start over: ver10.14 got deleted, the phone restarted, and ver10.14 reinstalled. I knew based on previous versions of the app released in the last six months that offline notebook synching should not be a painful process, but not one that takes multiple days. I have 14k notes total, and 11k in the biggest notebook. Since Saturday afternoon, that notebook is just under 10% completely downloaded. It feels like the early days over ver10.xx where performance was not good. Has anyone else encountered this performance with the latest version?
  12. I duplicated your scenario with an open .pdf within Evernote. 50/50 whether it's licensing or programming.
  13. @Steven Eff, I noticed this too, along with the process of changing my Home screen background images remains broken, after updating to v10.8.2. Ugh!
  14. So I updated Evernote today to 10.8. The new home feature looked interesting, and I wanted to change the background to one of my own photos. Once I selected one of my old photos and applied the change, Evernote immediately reverted the background image to the original image. @Shane D., does Evernote employ a QA team to test their apps before releasing new versions? And when will this defect be remedied?
  15. Hello, Notes sorting in legacy windows vs ios 14.4.2 Hello, When identically sorting notes in the current iOS app, and the legacy desktop version on windows, the results I see are very different. It’s almost like I’m not even looking at the same software from the same vendor – has anyone else encountered difficulties with sorting notes being out of sync on the phone and Windows?
  16. It will be enlightening to see if Evernote fleshes out this beginning step of in-note table editing, allowing column width adjustment, row height, etc.
  17. I removed Evernote Thursday because of perpetually stuck web clips not importing, and installed ver 10.5.1 for iOS yesterday. Downloading selected notebooks is a very different experience now: so far, my largest notebook, which contains more than 11k notes, is almost 60% downloaded since yesterday. This is a new and welcome change to initiating offline availability. Hopefully the company will continue fixing what they broke, with subsequent releases.
  18. My largest notebook contains approximately 10,000 notes. Major instability and download times occurred - more than once.
  19. The note edit protection toggle button at the bottom of a note Is supposed to prevent note changes. But tags, and notebook location can be changed without tapping the edit button: I can add and delete note tags, move the note from one notebook to another, and the changes are saved. The note has now been edited. @Shane D.can you bring this to the Dev team's attention? I posted about the topic a few weeks ago but there was too much editorializing.
  20. A loss for words I have spent the past several weeks trying - unsuccessfully - to download the notebooks I want to be offline, and have become more and more angry about the pile of rotting garbage that is Evernote v10 for iOS. I believe that either @DTLowor @PinkElephant suggested deselecting the offline notebooks in settings, then restarting the app. And then begin downloading the selected notebooks again - via settings. For that, thank you. Son of a ***** if it didn't work! I did this with the notebooks one at a time, smallest to largest, until finally only the largest one remained. Made up of over 10k notes, and bigger than 10GB in size, Evernote took the larger part of a full week to download, but it successfully finished. Oddly enough, it's like I don't know what to do with the app now that offline content is really there. I spent so much time trying to restore basic functionality that I haven't made time for evaluating the note editor, etc. No app should be this defective and deficient - there truly is just no defensible excuse for this. I hope that perhaps some sense of how much they've f**ked us with this app - all of them, really, gets in front of Ian.
