thx all for the suggestions tried all of them, didn't work, was going to abandon evernote today, checked names of notebooks again, found one which had an apostrophe ['], renamed it to remove the apostrophe, and wow, clipping finally works again ability to choose folder during clipping process also works now thx again

smart filing now working again in evernote clipper related notes also appeared

I changed sorting of search results to sort by "date updated", but program doesn't remember this it keeps defaulting back to sort by "relevance", the next time i conduct a search this was not how it previously behaved hope this issue can be resolved in next update, thanks

finally got an update via Play Store. Search seems to be back, fingers crossed it stays like this
