  1. 90% of my posts express displeasure with evernote but this time I have to say thanks when they get something right....speifically in this case the thanks is for for fixing the way you can hide new notes... its the little things that important and hopefully the team will continue to find more low hangin fruit things to fix.
  2. They are a lot ui tasks that take 5+ more steps than necessary. . Ill check out remember the milk
  3. Yes, that works if you right click on an existing stack. My ideas was that If you right click on a notebook EN would assume you want to create a new stack and create a new notebook... which could save clicks
  4. Hey how hard would it be to add this feature... I am cleaning up and resetting up gtd system in evernote again. I have a lot of work to do because the current way to add a notebook is bit tedious ( takes more clicks ) I propose a different way. 1. Right Click on a Notebook 2. Select " Add Notebook " Here 3. Stack gets created and a new notebook is created, waiting to be renamed.
  5. I took a look at Spaces by chance, and I have to say it looks like a cosmetic change, at best. They have a gif that shows a user moving notes, from one notebook to another the only difference is thats vertical. as opposed to draggin notebooks to the left nav bar. Is it useful? There is a spot for recent notes in spaces too, which at first seems not too different from the recent notes on the left nav. Its not really new its just presented as such because it uses the notes from within the space.
  6. Core functionality is not whether its used for note taking or cabinet. It could be that but that's not what I meant. It's the basic features of the software that enables us to use it for whatever we desire, Features that actually exist already but are very limited in how we access it, features that to me are low hanging fruit. Editing I am not able to delete a tag using the keyboard shortcut like delete or using the menu. Just by right clicking. Users who use keyboard shortcuts perform tasks fastest in general. If a tag is selected and I hit enter or spacebar, the tag should be editable. Even if I click it its not editable. Same thing with notebooks, currently you have to go a second screen "Notebook" to then rename. We might as well put it deep inside of preferences.
  7. No problem, I'm just getting back into evernote after using other programs and i rather keep it simple...Ill live with it.thank you.
  8. oh ok, thank you DTLow, i notice the shortcuts list comes with the recent notes list attached to the bottom. is there anyway to remove or hide the recent notes... while keeping the shortcuts list?
  9. I'm on a mac, and would like to see saved searches on the left side nav instead of it hidden in the search dropdown. is this possible. i think i saw it in the windows version.
  10. I check in once every three years. Has there been any evernote alternatives available that you like? Keep is not it, but is Onenote still leading?
  11. Are businesses features more important than non business features? Any improvements to the core note taking functionality coming down the pike?
  12. Some many know Ive been critical of Evernote for adding new features without getting the core notetaking ones correct, so in fairness I have to be willing to praise them when they get it right. Evernote Thank u for fixing the title from scrolling within the document. Its the little things that will make the app a joy to use.
  13. Well if you guys are still evernote users you will be happy to know this has been fixed.. the title stays to the top of the screen!!!
  14. Yep, I mentioned this before in another thread and was berated for it.. wish i had the link
  15. any updates? it is these features that are more core to the task of taking notes that i wish that were improved before evernote added before the ability to chat or present within Evernote existed. maybe the core features will be worked on for the next release!
  16. OMG. Here is my beef with Evernote. There are so many EASY PEASY simple little things they could do to make their programs 40 percent more usuable and faster. Its crickets. All I am saying is master the little things the low hanging fruit before deciding to turn a note taking program into a presentation tool and chat client. lol smh
  17. I am pissed this only has three replies. Yeah man again this is basic stuff. Even when you search gmail it says there files that match your search. I think i need to be a UX guy and for get about web app develeopment. Gang let this be a consolation. Im going to try and not use Trash anymore and just put all my notes in a notebook so it could be search. Its a hacky workaround but its all we can do at the moment. I hope this helps the previous posters.
  18. Hello Evernote Users, I updated the below so thats out of date, and will post soon. As you can see above, I am deciding to make this post be the "repository" for the workflow for using Scrum Kanban and indirectly Kaizen methodologies. Franks methodology also inspired me, shoutout to him. Even though Evernote is not LeanKit ( and by that I mean visual ) Im learning to give up on that, but focus on using what I have in evernote while doing my best NOT making it complicated and cumbersome to do so. The reason why Im not using LeanKit is because they and many others do not have an offline option, surprisingly. Stay tuned for the latest iteration... Thanks, Dwayne
  19. This is not the greatest but im using it for now.. Major points.. Inbox at the for tasks I need to do Inbox Ephinanies are for ideas that need forming or things i realize The titles starting with a. b. and c. are my individual process steps. Remember my only with Franks was how to represent different project workflows...I was going to duplicate the 01. Progress stack for every project but that would have been too long vertically. I decided to keep the process in a seperate notebook but keeping the progresst steps and tasks within visible using the "Snippet View". I would manually pull each tasks to the seperate notes... I may change this next month but this is what it is for now. In order to see if i am being balance by completing tasks, another hack is that when i complete items I drag them to the done notebook then tag them with the project or area of responsibility. yes, this would mean kinda sorta duplicating the project lists i have as notebooks as tags... maybe too hacky Non project tasks go in a notebook for them under 01. In Progress Also In Progress I have the priority level p1, and then the wip limit 7. im clearly not following the limit but thats another storIts rough, I made it work Maybe Ill give workflowy another shot https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9503377/Screen%20Shot%202015-03-28%20at%208.21.23%20AM.png https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9503377/Screen%20Shot%202015-03-28%20at%207.53.38%20AM.png Hope this post was clear, Its early in the am
  20. Good stuff, Frank I will do that. And on a seperate note Ill share what I came up with regarding the scrum/evernote stuff soon.
  21. Hey Gang, Again renaming a notebook is not a power user feature, I respect that 1000%. And again it's not the only reason why I was thinking about building a lighter version. Some else started this thread with more good reasons.. my lil example was just a bad scapegoat that got more attention than it was worth. Agree there also. More relevant post that I should have said was " Hey EN Power users, since you guys are already thinking of alternatives ( because of more than the lack of renaming notebooks ;-) ) Im thinking of trying to build a version of "offline" Evernote to practice AngularJS programming. I was hoping to see what kind features, power users needed from evernote to see if its direction that i was going to go with my evernote light idea... So far JMicheal provided features that I would add and someone else mentioned secure notebooks, so ill keep those in mind. " Thanks, Hows this?
  22. "as suggested before, if you step back from it a little and evaluate the app as a whole instead of focusing on the insignificant issues, you might find it's more than adequate for most " Does that apply to every person who makes a suggestion to improve for Evernote to or just my suggestion.. Are they making a case that its not adequate by suggesting it. I'm not sure what sets my suggestion apart that makes you feel so but, Grumpy that's what we have product feedback forums for.
  23. Hahaha No problem, JMichael. That was absolutely hilarious. I wont quote. Metrodon: Im not misunderstanding because I agree 1000% your last post. In fact thats why i wrote earlier " The funnier thing is that how you say u wouldnt do x y or z id never guess EN would have made a chat client/ presentation option for notes. The principles youve mentioned [ about keeping it simple ] go against what they done." JMichael thank you for unintentionally helping me articulate what was were removed in version 3. You are right it is indicative of a larger problem, but I was getting flak just for reporting the symptom so I didnt want to get too deep lol. JM That list you wrote was very comprehensive. A lot of you probably dont see why I would write this much about one thing but if it existed in a previous version, a valid question is why in the world would you take it out? lol Thats why i say it doesnt matter how much times i need to rename something, usually software releases do not take a cool feature out, you know? Also JM you may remember I tried looking for the OS.X version 3 and would do anything to have it back. I knew I should have saved the DMG. ... Maybe it should be removed to rename notebook? I disagree yes we are talking a lot but we are also talking about the discontent I have from En not having features that address the power user. Trust me this is so not about renaming a notebook lol. Its just an example, a microcosm...
