Thank you. I just ran the scheduled update for Evernote, and that seemed to clean up whatever it was. I can now create new notes without any extras.

The same operation on my iOS app works fine. Since I don't see any other posts about this, I'm guessing there is something odd about my copy of Evernote or the way it is configured. It used to give me 3 notes at a time, but now gives me 5. Happens when I use the hotkey (cmd-n). Happens when I use the File menu item "New Note". So that eliminates sticky keyboards and faulty hotkey definitions. Even so, I made sure the hotkey was reset to the default. It has been happening to me for years, through multiple version changes of both Evernote and MacOS.

@rstrejcek, I'm only guessing at the logic, but the system seems to look for a note with changes to be saved, so that the "Save as Template..." command will work. That's why we make changes to the file (then delete them) and try saving while it's still fresh. At least that's what works for me. Does that give you some idea?
