  1. I just heard back from the support team. The support team said that the product team is aware of this issue and isn't planning on doing anything about it but they are tracking it. If you think this issue is annoying I rec opening up a support ticket. Sounds like if enough people open up support tickets they will resolve this issue.

  2. Thank you for sharing this. He was a dedicated member of the Evernote community and we will miss his contributions and engagement here. He consistently helped us to identify bugs/issues, offered great product improvement suggestions, and provided guidance and help to other users whenever he could. We're very sad to hear about his passing, and he will be greatly missed.

  3. Thanks for posting this. I'm so sorry to hear this. An active member since at least 2011 (that's when I landed, was pretty sure he was active before that) he and I have shared many a thread and PM. He always pushed us to be a better product, was super helpful, and held staunch but well formed views. Will miss him round these parts.

  5. Evernote Mac-Version: 10.20.4 Hello Evernote-Team, with the Mac-Version mention above Evernote has the error to show only 128 notes when I filter with Tags. Can someone say when this will get fixed?

  8. The new version of Evernote on my Android phone retains tags applied to previous notes and applies them automatically to every subsequent note. It is necessary to open the new note and delete each inapplicable old tag every time a new note is created. This is time-consuming and extremely annoying! Please tell me how to make it stop!

  9. Hello! Today we released Evernote for Mac 10.21.5. This release contains some notable feature refinements and is primarily a bugfix release. It is available now via the Mac App Store and as a direct download version from our website. If you are already running one of these versions, we are progressively rolling out to compatible devices and the new version will be available on all supported operating systems within 7 days. To learn how Evernote delivers app updates, when you’re eligible for an update, and how to update your Evernote app, visit How Evernote delivers app updates to our customers. New to Mac 10.21 You can now add codeblocks and dividers to your tables. Adding filters to your note list or search results is a great way to narrow down your view, and now you can save those filters as a saved search with one click. You can now duplicate, copy, and merge notes while you're offline. Fixed highlights: Date pickers (little calendars used for selecting dates) in the app will now shift to a Monday or Sunday week start date depending on your locale. When exporting a note as a PDF, the title of the note would have a line break in the middle of a word. Note conflicts when editing on a single note (where we create a duplicate note automatically) should happen less often. We are still working on improving this further. Let us know what you think and we appreciate the continued feedback. We will keep hard at work! Thank you!

  12. 60 MB is a very low number. If you want to use Evernote for free and you want to add very many attachments (or attachments of significant size), then you might want to consider uploading files to somewhere else (G Drive, Dropbox, etc) and link to them from a note in Evernote. Evernote's model for storage is different than most file storage services. Most services limit the overall amount of data that you can *have*, whereas Evernote will limit the overall amount of data that you can *upload* in any given month. Doesn't matter if you delete it 10 seconds after -- it still counts against you because it was uploaded.

  14. "... are you thinking about an Import Folder?" Thanks, gazumped. Yes, I've been using import folders on the EN Windows version for a long time. Recently changed from the Legacy version to v.10.20.4, and started using the v10 web app as well, and have been trying to figure out which to keep. I can't use import folders with the web version, I'm now getting that 10.20.4 is squirrelly (I can't see half of the files assigned to a particular tag), so that leaves me going back to - Legacy. I hope they get the desktop version right because it has always been what I need.

  17. First, thanks for clarifying that this is not Evernote support. Secondly, in recent times I am astonished time after time, how weird one can build an application (be it Evernote client or webapp). Why would a web application download all my notes? That is like login to your email provider's web frontend and it would download all my emails. Are you telling me that Evernote web app loads all my notes onto... where? my browser? I cannot believe this. It would mean that if I open Evernote on my mobile it would suck empty my data plan in no time? Very strange. Anyway, opened a support ticket.

  18. Not surprisingly, a 3-year old issue has been solved since all this was posted. Copy / paste works fine in both Legacy and v10

  19. This is not true. As I described here it says saved not synced. They probally mean saved to cache so this is misleading. If you immediately force close the app (kill) after "all changes saved" you will notice that these last changes never appear on server (web) until you restart the desktop client for allowing sync completion. You can try it. There is always an upload lag from desktop. Even if only some seconds or a minute it can be problematic when you leave desktop and immediately switch windows to stand by or hibernate after last edits as @Carl-L-NDdescribed. You could than miss the last edits on mobile later on. To circumvent this you can exit (quit) EN desktop manually via EN menu. It than closes only after sync completion as described in my former posting. (I can only report for windows client) Therefore it would be nice if their all saved indicator could be replaced by a real all changes synced indicator.

  20. I've been EN since 2007. I am with the disaster crowd. I can live with some necessary changes to update with the times or an EN vision, but the web app slows my work flow down to the point of tedium. I will migrate, too, sadly, before updating to web app.

  21. The mobile apps only load one note at a time. Probably the assumption is that a mobile device may be on a slow mobile network, not allowing and not paying for an extended download. So they go note by note, even if a modern phone or tablet is not slower than a entry level notebook PC. And they won’t offer any multi-note-operations, which reduces the usability in a local context.

  22. First, you are not alone. You experience the exact same issues as many of us. Evernote 10 is now out for 9 months and except for adding new features there has been almost no improvement on speed and quality concerning bug fixing. Seeing this time span I would not expect that we will see a working EN on Android soon. Maybe using the new app framework killed the former user experience even forever when it comes to speed and responsiveness. Also background syncing seems to not be possible anymore. But the only chance to get an answer from Evernote is by raising tickets on this. If you need instant hassle free access to your data you could also consider rolling back to EN8.13.3 via APK sideload.

  23. The new version of Evernote (version 10) gets quite a lot of criticism because it doesn't (yet?) have as many features as the old (legacy) version. However none of the three specific features you mention have ever been in Evernote. Given that you decided not to use the free plan for a few weeks to give it an extended trial you will either need to get used to the EN way of doing things or accept the wasted money. There are some partial work arounds for some of the issues you mention: Background colour of notes. You can make a large, one cell table and fill it with a range of different colours. Format painter. You can modify the four styles and apply these quite easily to text Ordering of notes. There are various options including having a naming convention which allows you to sort notes alphabetically into the order you want manually changing the creation date.

  26. It was working fine in the past and it is still working in Evernote 6. To me this is to be considered a but or a stupid limitation. I just submitted support Ticket# 3377240 - Tag filter only selects up to 128 notes

  27. I too have developed, over many months, a suspicion that the problem is due to spell check. It really is pathetic that Evernote have never investigated this problem and posted a helpful response to us. Evernote is really quite a simple database application, and in no way needs to consume as much CPU resources as this.

  28. For all you Android-brothers out here; I found a decent solution. Uninstall the App and install an older version of Evernote. I'm now on 10.5.1 and it works like a charm. Even the annoying homescreen was not introduced in this version. Win win! The older APK can be found on: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/evernote-corporation/evernote/evernote-10-5-1-release/ (don't forget to turn off automatic updates in the Play store).

  29. The forum is user2user. To ask EN issue a support ticket. They probably will not tell any date. AFAIK this is no bug, it is a limit build into the filter to avoid runaway searches on the server. You get all notes by typing this into the search field: tag:mytag https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/208313828-How-to-use-Evernote-s-advanced-search-syntax

  30. Not a very "orthodox" way of doing it, but you can set it to English by removing the other language files from the installation folder, thus forcing the app to use the English. Normal installation: C:\Users\{your_user}\AppData\Local\Programs\Evernote\locales Windows Store: C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Evernote.Evernote_10.20.4.0_x86__q4d96b2w5wcc2\app\locales Mind that these are the default locations, so it may be in a different folder depending on wich version you have or if you have chosen a different location for during the installation process. Wish it could be a setting you could choose from. I'm not allowed to change the language of my Windows due to company policies, but I like using the English language for practicing and keeping in touch with the language. Hope it helps

  31. In my understand a note taking app should assist me on the go. That means the UI should react and perform at the speed of the user (writing, clicking, drawing). In 2021 this is standard even on low end and middle class Android devices...and it was until EN8.13.3 with Evernote as well. But with EN10.X: Look at the Android apps of OneNote and Google Keep. Compared to EN10.X they feel like out of another universe regarding responsiveness and speed. As a user, I strongly wish Evernote for Android would close this gap in performance as soon as possible and to become the assisting app again I loved for years. I would encourage everyone not satisfied with actual performance of the 10.X app to give a vote as well. Thank you 🙂

  32. The widget-based home screen is completely useless to me. In fact, it reduces the value of Evernote to the point that I'm actively looking for a replacement. I understand that people have different needs. But what about MY needs? I need a simple, easy-to-use interface that just gets the job done. I don't want artwork. I don't want tasks. I don't want a scratchpad. I don't want "pretty". I just want to get to my notes. That's why I captured them. Is there any way to get a plain, simple home page?

  33. @AlbertR@athertsthe ability to put tasks in tables is on our roadmap.

  34. I don’t see „everything goes“ as a reasonable approach. But tasks in tables make sense - it would allow to build a KANBAN style project management using tables and tasks.

  35. I also think this feature would be useful... I'm on MacOS and it's very troublesome to have to click to undo a missed stroke

  36. Albert, but it shows all the tags instead of just the tags used in that search or notebook. I have like 300 tags... It's a madness to find something...

  37. Yet when I attempted to email my comments directly, they directed me to the forum. And when you do post on the forum they don't bother to react. And they even cut off the chat. This is not a healthy sign. Customer-friendly companies engage actively with customers who are making the effort to give them feedback. It very much feels like a group of developers who have lost touch with their customers and withdrawn into their bunker. I've got a nasty feeling about this and am preparing a bolt-hole. This is more than a slip-up - it's deeply incompetent. Not helped by the fact that they seem to have crippled the export feature. It's almost as though they're trying to hold our data hostage? Joplin is a VERY active open source project that's pretty usable now and can only get better. And you own your own data. Pretty sure that's where I'm headed. It's the keen users like us who helped build the company - they can't afford to lose us. OK, I'm not a paying customer right now, but I have been in the past and I would have been again. And I've evangelised their product online and off. I've used Evernote since its days on the desktop almost 20 years ago - if they haemorrhage people like me they are heading for trouble.

  38. Another very disgruntled long-time user here - I've literally been with Evernote since it was a little desktop app. This feels more like Alpha software - how it was released in this state is unfathomable. It's bad enough that I genuinely think it might kill the company unless they move really fast to fix things - this might go down in software folklore as a $billion mistake! In addition to the lack of a sync button, the missing notebook counts, the missing Preferences, the weird keyboard combination to delete a note, the missing editing shortcuts and the missing right click menu on the stacks, I'm experiencing show-stopping performance issues. I'm running on a high-powered HP workstation, but simply dragging a note from one folder to another is taking a full 8 seconds. These are quite big notebooks, but this was virtually instantaneous in the old client. I need to reorganise thousands of notes for a new project, and with this performance it's totally impractical. And another huge bug - if you multi-select a group of notes and drag them to a new folder, only the one you drag moves - the others just stay put. What kind of quality control is this?? But there's more - notes are taking forever to load, and the editor isn't keeping up with my rather average typing speed. So typing a note is a horrible experience with the cursor lagging and stuttering. In short - the whole Windows client is unusable. Maybe the performance is just a short-term server issue. But if it's a baked-in software issue, they may have made a catastrophic mistake. Like you guys I'm looking at alternatives. It's hard to trust your data to a company than can do something like this to its customers. I'm a developer, and this looks like gross incompetence. An option to add to the list of alternatives is Joplin - a fast-maturing Open Source project with 18k stars on Github and a lot of momentum behind it. It's something of an Evernote clone and can import Evernote databases. It's a bit geekier than Evernote and is based on Markdown. It's still a bit rough around the edges but think that this release of Evernote will give it a big boost as people haemorrhage away from an unusable app. But maybe Evernote will get these issues fixed - they are going to get huge pushback from their corporate customers, and while they can ignore us small folks, they can't ignore the people who keep them in business. I'm going to give them a few days, because when it was working it was still the best app in the field, despite the ugly interface. Be interesting to see if the moderator censors this, or if they have the integrity to let it stand. Companies that don't listen to their customers don't last long - never mind the 100 years they claim to be planning for. For goodness sake Evernote - get this sorted!

  39. 2020... and still no hand-writing integration in Evernote... I fear that means that Evernote is struggling to stay afloat and no longer investing in the product. Anyone else feeling that way? (Evernote Premium user Fromm the early years of the platform. Penultimate purchaser before it even got acquired. Apple iPad + Apple Pen happy user for sketching etc. OneNote provided by work and despite the fact I do not love it the way I loved Evernote, at least hand-writing is built-in... I need hand-writing support in Evernote to keep justifying myself the Premium annual fee...) Come on Evernote! You're making it really hard for your hard-core fans to stick around... deliver on the Penultimate promises and give us *real* *integrated* hand-writing support!
