  1. A Home widget for tasks is coming soon. Currently, you can pin a note that has tasks in it and it'll render the tasks on the Home page, but it won't be interactive.

  2. Hi all, Great news! We’re giving everyone early access to our newest feature: Tasks, starting to roll out now and available over the coming weeks on the latest versions of Evernote for desktop, web, and mobile. We believe that the information you keep in Evernote can work harder to help you achieve your goals. Tasks helps make this happen by allowing you to seamlessly connect your to-dos with the information you need to get them done: Manage tasks from a central view or from inside your notes. Changes made in one place automatically show up in the other. Connect your tasks to related information in your notes, including web clips, images, documents, and audio files. Unlike standard checklists, you can set due dates, reminders, and flags on each of your tasks—so nothing falls through the cracks. This forum gives you a place to ask questions and chat with others about Tasks. Feel free to start a thread or reach out to me directly. Please keep in mind: You'll get all features within Tasks during the Early Access period. But certain features will be limited to specific Evernote plans when Tasks is officially released. Tasks is only available on our new apps and cannot be accessed on legacy clients. But if you’re not ready to make the switch to the new Evernote, you can still try Tasks by installing the latest version of Evernote for Mac or Windows side-by-side with one of our legacy apps. To learn more about how Tasks helps you move beyond remembering to accomplish more, check out this blog post from CEO Ian Small. Thanks for trying out Tasks. We’re excited for all the ways it’ll help you stay on top of your day-to-day. Take care, Shane

  3. Great news ! Two things would make it fly for me: iOS widget or an entry to the icon drop down menu, to be able to drop a quick reminder without a need to ramp up the app Apple Watch app, with the possibility of set a quick note / quick reminder gadget as complication on the watch face

  4. Hi All, I wanted to let you know that in the latest version of Evernote, you no longer need perfect punctuation to find what you’re looking for. For example, “R.S.V.P” can be found by searching “rsvp” and “mother-in-law” can be found by searching “motherinlaw” or even just “inlaw”. See below for more examples. Watch this video to see this search update in action. As always, feel free to start a thread if you have feedback, or reach out to me directly if you have any questions. Thanks! Shane D.

  5. It would be great to be able to add subtasks under a task... since they display similar to a bullet item or check list item, it kept feeling like I should be able to indent the task so that it falls under another one. It would also be great to be able to fill out a few tasks so that they are cascading where completing one makes the next one in the list now ready to do.

  6. Hey Evernote, I really would like a collapsible toggle list (like a toggle list in Notion). That would give a lot more structure in making notes! Is there something like this coming up in future versions?

  8. Great feature so far! Is it possible to display 'Tasks' above 'Favorites' (Shortcuts) in the left sidebar? Because I have over 100+ Shortcuts and so you can imagine, that it always takes around 5-10 seconds to scroll down to 'Tasks'... Of course it would be best, if you can decide for yourself in which order the different areas are displayed in the left sidebar... because I have the same problem with 'All Notes' -> It also always takes 5-10 seconds to scroll down to the button (Notes) below the shortcuts. And you always have to keep in mind that 'Notes' & now also 'Tasks' is ALWAYS only ONE button and it actually makes more sense if these two buttons are above 'Shortcuts', because their number doesn't change, while the number of 'Shortcuts' can vary greatly for each user. A user with, say, 5 shortcuts will not find this annoying, while a user (like me) will often find it annoying to have to scroll down 100+ shortcuts each time to get to 'All Notes' and now also to 'Tasks'. That's why the ability to set the order of the areas (Home, Shortcuts, Tasks, Notes, Notesbooks, Tags, Shared, etc.) would be a huge step forward in Evernote (because some users also want to have, let’s say, 'Tags' displayed above 'Shortcuts', for example...). But the first impression of 'Tasks' is definitely positive and I think, I'm not the only one who is happy about the positive development of Evernote! (I published the same post 30 minutes ago, but apparently it disappeared... It had 2 or 3 likes by then, so it seems there is resonance with the improvement of setting the order of the areas for yourself!)

  9. Thanks, all! I got it to work. What was an obvious step is now buried and not intuitive... who would have every thought "copy app links" = "table of contents"? Many thanks. Tim.

  10. Hello! Today we released Evernote for Mac 10.15 (v 10.15.6 build 2680). This release contains Tasks Early Access. If you manage any tasks and checklists within Evernote, you’re going to want to check out the early access version of our newest feature. Announcement here. Past release notes are archived here. It is available now via the Mac App Store and as a direct download version from our website. If you are already running one of these versions, we are progressively rolling out to compatible devices and the new version will be available on all supported operating systems within 7 days. To learn how Evernote delivers app updates, when you’re eligible for an update, and how to update your Evernote app, visit How Evernote delivers app updates to our customers. New to Mac 10.15 Tasks Early Access - see the forum announcement (and accompanying early access forum for your feedback) here. If the Collapse Sidebar toggle was getting in your way of the keyboard shortcut menu and hover state - it’s now a little more user friendly. Fixed highlights: The app would occasionally prevent you from editing a shared note, even though no one else was editing it. If you opened a note that was already open in another window, you’d expect the app to bring that window to the front. Turning off spellcheck should now correctly apply to note windows. Coming soon: Dragging and dropping note links and tags directly into your note Additional export options (in progress - HTML and export options released in 10.13) Import folder Duplicate more than one note at a time Filtered notes widget for Home

  11. This is not looking at the apps we used for years, and try to advance them a little bit. If you followed the communication in the past, they had grown to a complexity that was stopping improvements. How many releases did we have prior to v10 ? Hardly any ! The EN management decided to push the reset button, and start from scratch. IMHO discussing changes compared to the old clients and whether we like them or not is beside the point. V10 is the platform from which EN will evolve. Everything before it is already history. The basics of design and functionality are in plain view, to be seen and tried. I read the situation as like it or leave it.

  15. Hi All, Early access to Tasks has started rolling out and will be available to you over the coming weeks. Tasks in Evernote help you stay on top of it all by making your notes more actionable and giving your to-dos the context you need. Notes and tasks make each other more useful: Add tasks directly to your notes to keep the things you need to do with the information you need to get them done. Streamline your workflow—when notes and tasks live together, there’s no need to keep switching between your notes and a dedicated task manager. Avoid information overload by capturing the details, actions, and decisions you need in one convenient place. Take control of your day: See the right task, at the right time. Unlike standard checklists, you can set due dates and reminders on each of your tasks. Get alerts for tasks even when you’re not in Evernote, so important action items never fall through the cracks. Quickly focus on what matters most by flagging important tasks. Master your priorities: Get a summarized view of everything you need to do, or immerse yourself in the context of what you need to do now. Work your way—sort tasks by note, due date, or flagged status and use filters to focus on what you need in the moment. Changes to your tasks update instantly across every view and on all your devices. Get early access to Tasks and start each day confident that you have a clear path to tackling everything on your plate. If you have feedback on Tasks, please share it with us here. Thank you!

  16. Feature Request: Add Outlining Capabilities to Evernote Evernote is great, but it's dying for the ability to create Notes that contain Outlines which are easily collapsed and expanded during creation and in use. One way to implement it would be a switchable editing mode, between standard formatting or outline mode. In outline mode, pressing the Enter key creates a new outline item, and pressing the Tab key changes the current item into a sub-item. Clicking on an item's action icon causes its sub-items to collapse out of, or expand into view. That's the way the Ecco Pro PIM did it, and something simple like that would be a good start for Evernote. The name Evernote implies a product that takes notes -and collapsible/expandable outlines are a huge part of note taking.

  17. It is possible to clip an entire webpage, but to highlight or annotate them it's necessary to convert it to an editable form. This breaks the format and doesn't prevent changes.

  18. Hi. First comment - you may want to change the tag line for this section: "If you have feedback related to the older version of Evernote for Windows, post here!" (my emphasis) - I think you mean the new one? Some questions arise before I update my current version 6.25... Is there a "step back" option? - i.e. once updated would I be able to revert to my 6.25 version if the new app is not performing well? Local (unsynced) notes are no longer supported - do you still store local copies of the notes synced with the server database? I ask because I use Backupery's app to export my notes to ENEX on a daily basis and I'd like to continue to do so after updating. For anyone wary of updating to the new version - how long do you forsee support for legacy versions continuing? Will there still be bug fixes and updates for those versions? Presentation Mode is something which is very useful for academic users - is there any prospect of this coming back / some sort of integration with a presentation app? Another service I use is Postach.io - will that app continue to be able to convert my notes to a blog? I can work around the Outlook Clipper no longer being supported (there's still email!) but the list of unsupported features in the help page says (again my emphasis) Can we expect an exhaustive list of 'no longer supported' features anytime soon?

  19. Just updated to the latest version of Evernote. Why is it so slow! Prior to this update pages opened instantly. Now its a wait so long that that is not helpful at all. I hope this is just a temporary issue - maybe the data is loading up in a new location on my HDD? If not then Evernotes usefulness to me has been significantly diminished. Also - previously I seem to remember being able to change the location of the local storage. I don't see that option anymore. Any reason for this. Evernote has for several years been a central part of my work organization and productivity - these new changes are concerning.. Any intel would be well appreciated

  21. It is working. I just scanned one of my many files. Thanks for the answer. An interesting observation: If I name a note in Evernote it will not automatically change the name of the file that was saved in the Folder. Also, If I change the name of a file in the Folder it will not automatically change the name of the note in Evernote. Therefore, I have to change manually the Label in both Evernote and the Folder. I wonder if I could change the name once either in Evernote or in the Folder and it would automatically change the name in the other. Anyway I have a long way to go in this project.

  24. There are limitations … AFAIK the TOC tool was not designed to create a TOC of an entire notebook. I can always see this list of note titles live, by clicking on the notebook in the side panel. If you NEED it, install legacy with the old TOC feature.
    1 point
  25. Sure, that doesn't seem difficult at all..depending on the size of the Notebook you want to have a TOC for! For a few hundred, 50 at a time is just a few minutes of sorting where you left off for each set of 50 links you can copy. My most used notebook has over 1500 notes, I would prefer we had the TOC feature back so that I didn't have to copy 50 links each time.

  26. OK. I can see why you can see the search criteria easily. Because you have an expanded sidebar. You can see the search criteria when you select the shortcuts. I have my sidebar hidden most of the time. So, this is what I get. I cannot see (I didn't know there is) the search criteria. By the way, my shortcuts is called Reminders. I thought I click the Edit saved search, I can edit saved search (Name and Query). But... . In the good old Evernote 6.25 Windows, this is how we can edit saved search. You can edit the Name and Query of the Saved Search. What UI/UX has Evernote v10 bring us.

  27. In one of the many videos Evernote produced about EN10, Ian Small interviewed one of their UX designers. They talked about this specific change at length. Personally, I wasn't a fan of the change either, but as @PinkElephant mentions, this is where EN will evolve from. I have developed the "muscle memory" of the shortcut keys (on both Windows and Mac) and now their location in the display is a non-factor for me. Was it an initial challenge - yes, but now I'm on to the next challenge. Speaking of the video with their UX designer, I shared that with the equivalent where I work. He was impressed with the data-driven approach to decision making. He (my colleague) internalized a statement made in that video, "Delivery velocity - the lifeblood of innovation".

  28. Hi. Before the table of contents option, we selected a bunch of notes, copied the note links, and pasted those into a note. In my opinion. that was never terribly difficult, so the table of contents option was nice, but not necessary. Give it a try, and I think you’ll find it is pretty easy to do. I often link up clusters of notes this way by appending the list of note links to the end of each note, creating a kind of mini wiki of related content within your database.

  30. V10 is practically a browser that runs the app embedded. This double layer uses more system resources. On an older PC probably legacy alone is the better short term solution.

  31. Does that export out the attachments? And where have you move them too? I mean another app to manage the content.

  32. This problem first appeared and has been recurring for us since about April 2021. We have observed that this is a major issue affecting multiple Evernote accounts of staff and colleagues who are also using Slimjet Browser with the Evernote Web Clipper. It seems to be affecting all Evernote Web Clipper / Slimjet users. There were no previous issues. Any responses from Evernote / Flashpeak that could provide an explanation and address the problem that many of your users are facing? I'll forward the link to this thread to support@flashpeak.com which is the technical support email for Slimjet / Flashpeak. Hopefully this can start dialogue between Evernote and Flashpeak if needed. Anyone with any updates or who are also facing this issue, please post. Cheers!

  33. I use non-dated reminders (pinned notes) a lot. They are more functional to me in Legacy than they are in v10 for two reasons: 1. Being able to custom order my pinned notes by dragging/dropping them is a key part of my workflow. Not having this option in v10 is a workflow issue for me because it is less efficient (another micro-efficiency lost for me). I use non-dated reminders as "shortcuts" for a specific notebook. By taking away my ability to sort them, I have to mentally think about which note I'm looking for in the list each time I go to that notebook, vs just knowing that, say, my "project management" note is at the top of the list every time. If you can image the pushback Evernote would get if users couldn't manually order shortcuts, that's the workflow frustration/inefficiency I'm feeling by not being able to manually order the non-dated reminders. REQUEST TO HAVE DRAG/DROP TO ORDER NON-DATED REMINDER NOTES RETURNED TO V10! 2. I miss that the side-list layout for the reminders tab no matter what the view of the notes tab is. The important part of the reminder for me is the title (often using it as a project management note, a task list, or a shortcut for that particular notebook). I don't find the v10 behavior of the view (where it mirrors the selection of the notebook) as useful. This one doesn't "break" my workflow like #1 does though and if I could manually order them (request #1) it *might* be less of an issue for me – although have you have it in Legacy is great...and this doesn't feel like a functional improvement.

  34. I've been successful in moving content out of Evernote using the Evernote Legacy product on a Mac, and the export feature (html format) Separate files are created for each note, and the content can be accessed using any browser app Less successful with this method is access to metadata

  35. The sequence is first change it, then save it Open it, modify the parameters by clicking on the 3 dots, select filters, do the changes save it again - when you enter the same name, it will overwrite the existing saved search Done Edit: This works in the iOS client, not on desktop.

  39. I strongly stand behind the EN team. I deeply appreciate the effort required to build things ground up when the legacy is already rocking it. Demonstrates vision, courage, leadership and long term commitment to users. The team has been working through the pandemic and delivering the goods. I can find lots of reasons to be dissatisfied but I choose to focus on the EXTRAORDINARY effort of the team. way to go TEAM. And Ian superlative leadership.

  43. (Update 2 - we've pushed a patch for 10.14 (10.14.7) to resolve a service related issue.) (Update - there was an issue with our initial release and the quick switcher shortcut was not working. We've pushed an update for this same release that should address the issue. If you have downloaded this update already and the shortcut is not working for you, please see this thread for a fix.) Hello! Today we released Evernote for Windows 10.14 (v 10.14.6 build 2651). This release brings an improvement to search with a new quick "switch to" option to Windows. Hit CTRL-Q to quickly pull up a search box to switch right to your preferred note or notebook. A top requested feature, it is now available on Evernote Windows for the first time. Past release notes are archived here. It is available now via the Windows Store and as a direct download version from our website. New to Windows 10.14 We added a new keyboard shortcut! Quickly search or switch to a note, notebook, or tag by pressing Ctrl-Q on Windows. Evernote for Windows will now open a little faster thanks to some performance improvements. Fixed highlights: If you selected multiple notes but the first one was blank, the app would sometimes forget your selection. The app would sometimes have trouble importing a lot of .enex files at once. When the Evernote app is minimized, the keyboard shortcut for new note windows now only opens a note window instead of the whole app. Coming soon: Quickly search and move to different note using a keyboard shortcut (Mac - CMD+J, Windows - Ctrl+Q) Dragging and dropping note links and tags directly into your note Additional export options (in progress - HTML and export options released in 10.13) Import folder Duplicate more than one note at a time Filtered notes widget for Home

  44. This is happening to me too over the last couple of days! Have uninstalled and reinstalled, but continues to happen within a minute or two of opening EN. Continual pop ups until I force quit. Unlike AKB_MTL I am still on Catalina OS (10.15.7) and the error occurs even if EN is the active app. It also happens EVERY TIME I open EN, so it has become unusable. I've had to resort to the legacy version. Please help!

  45. My notebooks are all heavily interlinked. Every note contains many links to other notes. This is essential to how I organize my information. If link support does not work well I am forced to migrate to another app. Two fixes are desperately needed to make links usable in version 10. When clicking an internal link in a note opened in its own window, open the link target in that window, not in the main window. Opening it in the main window is insanity. It has nothing to do with the current context in which I'm working. It destroys the context I chose and want in the main window. It leaves the current window open but hidden in the background having to be manually found and closed later. It makes navigating back to the note I was in impossible Essentially it turns Evernote from a functional multi window app into a broken, unintuitive, inconvenient mess for heavy users of internal links like me. Clicking a link should navigate to the link target, not show some editing information. Requiring two clicks and mouse movements to navigate a link is absurdly inconvenient for such an extremely common user task. You read and navigate far far more often than you edit. It's obvious that you should optimize convenience for the common case, not the edge case of wanting to edit a link. At the very least provide an option to navigate rather than edit as the default action when clicking a link. I cannot believe that neither of these UI design disasters have been fixed 3 months later in spite of complaints. Please Evernote. Please don't force me to go through a painful migration to another service through UI design decisions so bad that the app becomes so inconvenient and quirky as to be virtually unusable.

  46. I dropped V10 for Windows desktop after about 15 minutes, severe lack of function and speed. I use a 7 year old Lenovo x230 (8GB mem with SSD) docked with two monitors. Response time is virtually instantaneous with 51k notes on 6.25.1. V10 was like web browsing with a really bad connection. Sticking with 6.25.1 until this gets sorted. Geez, I hope it gets sorted to some extent. Version 6.25.1 is the best option on the market at this point for my use case. What a shame that statement is.

  47. Why is this marked solved? I'm LOOSING information that I capture on my phone and then it just NEVER shows up on the web or desktop versions. Does anyone have a suggestion for an app that just works? They destroyed this application in the most recent revamp. What's worse? They don't seem to realize or care they destroyed it.

  48. I split your post into a separate discussion I have 14k+ notes; minimal Notebooks; 100+ Tags In some ways Notebooks and Tags are interchangeable; they're both fields in the note metadata Tags are Evernote's primary organization tool Notebooks have a special function; to identify notes as private/shared, offline My preference for Tags is based on the restriction of a single Notebook assignment per note What is your process when a note fits the criteria for multiple Notebooks? >>I find two levels of notebook hierarchy fine With your "subtopic" in the note title, you have three levels If I was a Notebook user, my preference would be unlimited levels; similar to Tags

  49. I'm with Richard. Releasing a dysfunctional "upgrade" like this is unbelievable, Asinine stupidity. You don't replace a solid version of software with "a work in progress" without half the features of the previous version. No excuse. About 20 min into Ver10, I was so mad I couldn't see straight. Trying to get work done and hitting walls every time I tried to do something. Back to legacy.

  50. Is there any hope of getting the ability to change font/test sizes/colors on iOS? There were people in 2012 pointing out that this feature was lacking and here we are in 2015 and we still don't have it. This is a pretty core need and it really surprises me that EN does not support it, given that it is supported on web and desktop.
