  1. Add words to the dictionary? That's the "fix"? It's gonna be one h*** of a job to right click and add all words to the dictionary. No thanks, just give us the option to NOT have any spell checking at all, please.

  2. Hi all, I’m happy to announce that today we’ve released a brand-new Evernote feature: Home. It's rolling out to Mac, Windows, and Evernote Web customers over the next few weeks, with iOS and Android to follow. Home makes Evernote even more powerful by putting your most important information at your fingertips. It’s a one-stop dashboard that keeps the content you need front and center—neatly organized and instantly available—so you can stay on top of your day without feeling overwhelmed. Evernote Basic and Evernote Plus customers will see the following widgets in their Hom

  4. The M1 has a very fast SSD, and is swapping memory between RAM and the SSD. Let us just hope that the wear of the SSD cells by the swap does not take its tribute one day. The EN app will never return to the level of memory and CPU consumption as when it was natively programmed. Since there are other Electron-based apps that run reasonably well, I believe with some tweaking and tuning EN v10 will finally run in an acceptable range of resources consumption.

  5. Hi All, This is an issue we've been able to reproduce, and are working to address. In this case, I've split out the recent comments from the old thread as the root cause of the issue at that time has since been fixed. This is a new/different issue that is causing the cursor to jump to the top on the Web Client. I'll follow-up here as soon as I have an update on a fix.

  7. You are right but... I like to rename the PDFs' and look for the most efficient way to do it. I also use notebooks and need to distribute the notes to various notebooks. It is super easy in Scansnap Home to rename them and drop them in their respective notebooks-except no more. Scanning directly to Evernote Legacy ScanSnap Manager, cloud dump. if you will, results in that weird glitch in which the renamed PDF reverts back to its former name if the sync isn't "Just so"... Thanks so much for the reply. I guess patience is king in these trying days.

  8. Very interestring. I tried creating the note on the web version and syncing it to the windows desktop version. When I changed the image in the web version and synced, both versions have the wrong image. So it appears that my statement that it works on the web was not completely correct. It only works if you change the image on the desktop and sync to the web. It's a mess, so I am glad that @agsteelehas raised a support ticket. I am sure he will update us if there is any progress.

  9. It was a support ticket direct to Evernote support so no link available.

  10. I agree. The really weird thing though is that the web version also works correctly so it's something very specific to how how V10 is implemented on desktop. @agsteele Can you please post a link to your issue you reported? I did a quick search and could not find it. I also posted an issue on EN IOS forum for the wrong thumbnail image in snippet view: https://discussion.evernote.com/forums/topic/133126-thumbnailsnippet-view-image-not-being-refreshed-correctly-when-image-replaced-in-note-for-ios-devices/ @Mike P @agsteele I am noticing the wrong thumbnail image seems to be IOS sp

  12. Hello! Today we are releasing Evernote for Mac 10.6 (v 10.6.9 build 2254). It comes with the all new Home, which we’ve detailed in our announcement post here. We’ve also released a number of improvements and bug fixes. Please see the highlights below. It is available as a direct download version from our website, and will be available soon via Mac App Store. If you are already running the direct download version, you will see an automatic update sometime soon as we progressively roll out the update and do not need to take any action. 13. Given the level of response, I am likely wasting my time. Add me to the list of Power Users who wants to see a MANUAL SYNC Button. That this basic functionality would be removed as an "improvement" is a discussion for another day, but for the love of gawd, just put the damned thing back, since *everyone* appears to want it! Geez.

  14. Thanks Rajesh. I rolled back to Legacy version and it works perfect. I won't do another update until it is more stable.🤣

  15. Thanks, interesting article. It's true that on my 8GB M1, I don't feel issue with memory even if there is more than 8 or 10GB used. But if I go further and open too much programs using too much memory, I can feel it badly and everything becomes slower. No miracle even with M1 And I agree too, the fact that Evernote 10 is slower than legacy is not only a memory problem. Just that using more memory is another bad point against this version and this revolution with Evernote moving from native apps to Electron Framework app.

  16. Exactly. We're not beta-testers. Obviously Pink is at the very least biased, and probably "involved" with the company in some way. Marketing/brand promotion or otherwise why have so many posts on this forum defending Evernote's mishaps and incompetence?

  17. Yes, problems have not been fixed in EN 10.6.9...they are ignoring us.

  18. @Andis& @conant. I know this may be bit late but try updating. if not you can always pull a support ticket for the problem. I can see this would be a great problem of it copied uncontrollably and it also decreases you monthly sync amount.

  19. I have the same problem. They appear randomly it seems. Going back to the old version now.

  20. I can only add my disappointment to the comments above. I capture more than just items from the internet so I have to use other software to "clip" what I want then drag it into a note. I have been a premium user since 2008 and have loved this feature, like most people have commented one of the main reasons I use Evernote. I submitted a ticket to get details on why this feature or if there is a setting to turn it back on. I suggest everyone do the same. In 2008 Evernote did not have much competition, now there are alternatives, I am even pondering moving offline for security

  21. +1 Trying to expand this out for the Evernote developers: While editing a note, I would press a special key [[ "bracket bracket" or @ followed by a Note title Application offers me to relevant Notes' titles. If Note title exist, I will end up with an internal link to the note If Note does not exist, I will end up having a new note in the default Notebook. This feature exists on modern note taking app like Obsidian and Notion. Please add this to Evernote.

  23. That reminds me of another reason why I am still using the EN Legacy app: When I create new notes, EN 10.x sometimes hangs and the new note does not become "available" (stays a white sheet, with no title and text field). As I typically am in a hurry when using Evernote to take notes "in realtime", having EN hang on new notes is a total deal-breaker. Last tested and encountered on EN 10.5.7.

  24. This new version of Evernote, released only days after iOS14 came out (I ran betas of iOS14 before the main release) seems to be a disaster. Once again, they seem to be unable to get it right before a major release (this has been the case for years - I've been a Premium subscriber almost from the beginning of Evernote). Either their beta testers just don't pick up these bugs, or the coders don't fix them. And once again, they change stuff for the sake of changing it - like the Clipper, which now doesn't seem to work at all. See separate thread on Saving to Evernote from iOS. Mine simp

  25. Actually, the images in the snippet and card views are not working correctly in v10. It isn't just this particular issue but, for example, create a note containing a single image. The snippet or card will be given an image based on the image inside the note. Now remove that image and replace it with a different image. The snippet/card will still have the version based on the original image. Go off to the legacy version of the application and the snippet image will have changed to something based on the new image. I've got a ticket open for this which has been acknowledged as an issue

  26. Is the format of this image different? I assume that if EN can display the image in the note it can do so in the snippet as well but there could be a bug. I don't know the complete list of acceptable image formats but certainly jpg and png work ok. The other thought is whether the image is a lot larger than the others. I know with pdfs large pdfs do not get displayed inline for example. Just some thoughts.

  27. Since you're a big fan of information perhaps you'd like to share with the rest of the class your evidence that EN is indeed "clawing back to offer working v10 clients." Because a lot of people keep using words like "slow", "buggy", and the like. When someone complains they find 10.6.9 unusable on a Mac that is in fact useful information. It might not be at the level of detail to help developers fix problems or to warn users which particular features to avoid, but it's not the ****ing job of paying customers to help a company debug software that should never have been released in such a state.

  29. Evernote is already a frequent case study. I'm sure this whole episode will spawn many more.

  30. Exactly. Almost everyone gets that unifying the codebase was a pill that had to be swallowed. And Evernote power users are a very patient bunch. Waiting until they had v10 closer to feature parity with v6 and had most of the bugs ironed out, even if it took another 6 months would have been fine. Instead, by foisting this beta onto an unsuspecting public in the form of a general release and breaking many workflows, they have destroyed perhaps the most important aspect in the relationship between note app user and note app developer - trust. And for what? Any attempt to protect their compet

  31. Use cases do drive how we view the new product. Glad the new works well for you. There are too many features missing of which I have become accustomed. Kind of like going from a $70 steakhouse dinner to a $70 fast food burger for me. Value proposition not nearly as compelling. Hence I sit on 6.25.1 and observe the proceedings for now. I do hope they bring back the bits of feature that folks are requesting, maybe clamoring for, if that isn't too melodramatic.

  32. Perhaps I missed something but what is the purpose of having a strikethrough AND a check box? If an item is "completed" and checked off why do we also need to have it show with a strikethrough?

  34. "sadly" - Have you never been sad to see something good go downhill fast? Evernote is a great product. The v10 release is a disappointment. Manual Sync and nearly 100% success synchronizing for almost 10 years made my expectations for Evernote products high. This roll out is the absolute worst major software rollout I have ever seen by one of my major software products I use.

  35. Nice presentation. BUT : what's happening with the beta test program ? 1) When I choose a new picture in background, go away and come back to Home, it's always the same pic with the cup of coffee which appears ! 2) When I choose a pinned note, it disappears from the widget a few seconds later !!

  36. I cannot believe a company of this size would release such a steaming pile of dung and put out so many customers. I'm running a much fast windows PC than most people ever will on a network connection that is faster than most people have and it's completely useless. Everything I do results in a spinning green wheel. EVERYTHING. Utter garbage. I've been with Evernote since the beginning and it's amazing how a company manages to make a product worse over a period of 15 years.

  37. I'd say the odds of EN incorporating Local Notebooks into v10 are zero. For the past few years, they have deemphasized Local Notebooks (I'd bet many users who started using EN within the last few years don't even know the feature exists - when they hear "local notebooks", they're thinking offline notes), so this has been a long time coming. The odds of maintaining v6 in perpetuity are also zero. You don't switch to a new platform to unify the codebase only to maintain an older codebase that differs dramatically for each OS. If you need to keep certain notes/notebooks confidential, y

  38. @Austin GYou cannot be serious, it is not time for april fools. You are then almost on EN 11 but not have even resolved such a basic issue for a NOTE TAKING app. This is absolutely ridiculous. Waiting another 2-3 months for that is no option. Instead of playing with shiny GUI adjustment I would prefer to see some more substantial evolving...it is so sad what you are doing to the product and the brand! 😞

  39. Regardless of if the next update fixes this issue, I am definitely canceling my Evernote subscription. I honestly can't believe how poorly designed this app is. Its the same with Spotify - The company realized that 90% of their income came from their mobile versions, and so they don't care to put any real amount of their budget towards actually designing the computer versions to be usable. For the amount of money I've put towards Evernote over the last 5 years, I feel like I should expect a notes app that is actually useful to take notes with, instead of the app we have that is cons

  40. So curious about how Evernote found such engineers to kill itself! Worst ideas and practice in designing the version 10.

  42. I left similar feedback during the beta as well. Long time paying customer. Have convinced other people to use Evernote. It is UNCONSCIONABLE to say "we're not going to let users choose their own fonts. Because everyone is sharing notes with weird fonts, and that's a problem." No. Absolutely, NO. I've been using the current release and the legacy together. Yeah, current release has some nice things. But I will continue using the legacy as long as I can (or until I find an alternate app that fits my work), because I HATE THE FONTS YOU HAVE IMPOSED ON ME! And I don't share notes

  43. Sadly this shows the notorious ignorance of CEO and the EN staff. Leaving us with this premature spell checker and kicking off almost every non english typing user for months. Ignoring necessary foundation work. But in meantime wasting time playing around with shiny dashboards... Early at school kids learn that homework comes first, then playing. Obviously no one at EN can remember this simple rule. Hard to see, they leave us with this until 2021...

  44. Not sure anyone from Evernote is reading these posts... Evernote? You There? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? Registered an account to post a question about how to turn off the distracting red spellcheck lines, only to learn that many others have already mentioned the same. One thing blatantly missing from the forum is a response from Evernote. These lines are SO DISTRACTING it makes my notes unreadable!!! Guess I too may be leaving their services behind... been onboard since 2011... sigh!

  45. I am upset that all of my previously viewable / readable notes are now back to showing PDFs inline making a majority of my notes tedious to view and/or find things. Please bring back the option to view ALL attachments (including and most importantly PDFs) as just that -- ATTACHMENTS!

  46. I just installed Evernote Legacy, thanks for the link! I understand the reasoning of the dev team. Using the built-in Windows spellchecker saves maintenance. I think you can change the language of the spell checker by installing language packs and enabling multi-language support in the Windows settings. However: there is a major bug somewhere; turning off spell-check in Windows has no effect on Evernote! This is a killer for many people, as not everybody types plain text in Evernote. For example: code. Another tip is to use the web interface. There, spell-check can be disabled.

  48. Hi All, You may have noticed that all threads requesting the ability to lock notes and make them read only have been merged into this thread, regardless of platform specificity. This was done in order to better enable us to quantify and qualify user requests, and amplify their voice. While this does not mean this is a feature that will be coming, we certainly want to relay user feedback/sentiment to our various teams. Moving forward, please put all commentary and votes for the ability to lock notes and make them read only support here!
