  2. Hi All, my wife‘s iPad is an iPad Air 2, it was fine using Evernote.App V8.x This V10 is completely unusable on that device. Even after all Notebooks have been downloaded for offline use, it takes 3 seconds to display note content after tapping on a particular note. Everything is super slow. It take 3 or 4 seconds after tapping on the magnifying symbol to get the search view. But, I don‘t can use the search view because search in Notebook shared by others to yourself is not working at all - nonsens. So, search doesn‘t work, performance is super slow - what can I do to avoid divorce? 🙂

  3. I would recommend anyone that has not updated, don't. I turned off my Automatic App updates from the App Store when I saw 10 was released. So much is broken. I would love it if they would make everyone's live easier and release Evernote Classic on the App store giving people the option to use 8.x until they fix 10. It was released way too soon.

  4. We are working on title, background sync and tags currently. They should be available soon. Thank you for your patience.

  5. Two features to greatly improve the note writing and organization experience: Header Styles – Standard header styles, such as Title, Sub-title, Header 1, etc. Medium, Google Docs, and Slack Posts all are great examples of this. You should be able to select these header styles using a click of a button. The current workaround is painful: change font size for the header line, then change font size again to start writing in the smaller font. Note Outline – Once you create headers, these headers can then become a note outline that can easily be navigated. Look to Google Docs for a great example of this. This would greatly help my ability to navigate my more lengthy notes. Please see screenshots below. Hope you consider this! It would be awesome!

  6. When I joined Evernote customer club many years ago, it was unique and innovative. And during these years you managed to maintain highest level of user satisfaction. So what's wrong now? Why to remove the tool, actively used by many - smart and rational? Obviously, keeping Atlas doesn't involve too additional level of effort. Fellow Evernote users, I urge you to support this actively, as Evernote got big enough to listen to few users opinion.

  7. The iOS webclipper is saving each clip to the default notebook instead of the notebook I specify in the iOS sharing extension dialogue. I've repeated this several times with different notebooks, and it's happening every time I try to save anything on my iPhone. Each time, I have to then manually move the clipped note into the correct notebook. I'm using the most recent Evernote update on iOS14.

  8. Since the Keep It files are just located in Finder, they are part of any backup strategy you have, like Time Machine. So, you can have at least hourly versions of any file or note, that can easily be opened by navigating in Finder.

  10. Thanks for the update on resolving bugs. I can’t live without Evernote! I’ve been a member since 2014 & I have approx 12,000 notes I updated on Friday, 10-02-20, version 10.0.3. The new features are awesome. The missing features are devastating for me. My husband has his own separate Evernote account, not updated & I had to add data into his acct yesterday. It reminded me of just how much productivity I lost by updating my Evernote to 10. I regret updating to version 10. again, the new features are awesome. I predominantly & almost exclusively use my IOS iPhone 7 Plus for using Evernote. It works perfect for me. what I’m missing because of the update to version 10: 1) Printing ability. I have a paid monthly subscription to Adobe & via the IOS print function in Evernote before the update, I was able to PRINT and/or make an Adobe PDF of my notes. I can’t do this on the version 10 update. I found a tedious work around for printing but it’s wonky & I can’t make PDFs of my notes. 2) “”Find In Notes” I don’t use tags. They’re cumbersome & hit & miss for me. Again, I have almost 12,000 important to me notes. I deliberately inject hashtags within my notes in strategic placements within my notes & this technique works perfectly for me in “Find in Notes” or Find in ALL Notes/SEARCH. Since the version 10 update, the Find in Note or Find in ALL notes does not work = no search results. Maybe user error - but I’ve tried every way I can to get the SEARCH to work without success. I did get the Find In Note / SEARCH to work one or two times in newly created notes in version 10, but then when I tried again, that didn’t work & hasn’t worked since. PRINT /ADOBE PDF & Find In Note / Search are extremely important for me & I’m not sure if I can do without those features. I have faith that these bugs will be worked out & I’ll hang on. And, I like the new features in version 10.

  12. @ElephantPaper I'm sorry about the Upgrade button. We did not intend to nag our paying users to upgrade. This was a bug that we have fixed. You should see the button disappear within the next 24 hours as the updates get pulled in by the new client. Please let me know if you continue to experience the issue after that.

  13. If only it would get smaller and move down and be in the box at the bottom, which just seems like its natural place to be, as opposed to blocking the bottom bit of the last note visible...

  14. Wow, I am a long time believer in Evernote (12 years) and have 25K notes on everything from work, life, hobby, learning etc. in it. I understand the need for a complete reset & rewrite based on the many platforms EN is on. Like many loyal fans, I stuck with EN through the desert of "no features". What I do not understand is with all the talk of new software, modern engineering practices etc. how can EN release such an incredibly buggy IOS release (and I am not even talking about IOS14, which to some degree could be Apples fault. I stayed on 13 for now to update my EN...one thing at a time) ? I'd much rather wait another 6 months than have to deal with this untested pile... Basic, basic problems that really any minimal amount of testing should have caught: my new version defaulted to download all notebooks offline on my phone. Whaaaat ? Thats 25K notes people. Obviously not working. Sync: automatic sync we never trusted, yet finding a manual sync button is possible but very deeply hidden in this version. Doing the sync shows a blank screen forever, no notice of where we are in the process (log file, % indicator, anything). I still don't know whether sync is just slow or doesn't work because notes neither update on my ios or from my phone to the desktop. Isn't syncing one of the very basic function of EN ? When I open notes, I just see an empty screen, no content, no indication it needs to load anything more etc. Isn't displaying content one of the very basic functions of EN ? I do not know how many engineers EN has left. And I certainly do not want to diminish the enormous efforts of rewriting a code base from scratch. It is a huge undertaking. However, EN is not a startup any more. And we are not beta users. Modern software practices include thorough, automated testing of basic functions before any release. I cant believe this level of buggery occurs for a mature company and heavy users with lots of data relying on that company. Flabberghasted. Retract. Test. Test more. Test even more. Try with a small and willing beta base. THEN release. PS: I wouldnt mind paying more for a heavy user subscription if I have any confidence stability was a high priority in words and deeds and it helped EN be more profitable.

  15. My name is Caiyong, and I have been using Evernote since 2015. I used to work in Evernote U.S Redwood City as a staff accountant. Then, I moved back to China to start my E-commerce business, and it became a multi-million business. I thank for Evernote to help my company organize all the work and the collaboration efficiency it brought to my teams. I have two teams, the U.S team, and the Chinese Team. They use Evernote every day to manage their work. Thus, Evernote is the most important application for my company. Since my company is growing, I am interested in Evernote Business. However, something stopped me from upgrading from Evernote premium to Evernote Business. It's missing one of the WorkChat features. Here is the problem with the current Work Chat: When there is a new member joining my company. I have to start a new WorkChat group instead of adding the new member to an existing WorkChat group. If you want more people to start Evernote Business, please fix this WorkChat. It's an essential tool for companies to collaborate together. Otherwise, I need to pay for Slack, which I don't want to. Evernote has great potential if it targets the E-commerce business owners (Amazon sellers), helping them how to manage their daily tasks and help them discover new products and save the product information. It can also help them manage finance-related tasks. No one knows these tricks if they do not work in the E-commerce industry or finance industry. I've been monitoring Evernote updates for 5 years. And no videos talk about how to use Evernote for Selling on Shopify / Amazon. If your sales team can talk to the developers and fix the Work Chat, I'm willing to create tutorial videos for free and join Evernote Business. This will bring a huge amount of specifically targeted users to Evernote with premium subscriptions. Thanks for your consideration. I love to use Evernote to grow my business, and I have been waiting for the above Evernote WorkChat feature since the date it launched WorkChat. Caiyong Chen

  16. Hi All, I am locking and closing this thread as we believe the 10.0.3. update should address the root cause of the duplication issue for most of the users that have reported it on this thread. To clarify, we have seen some users report that they are still having some issues with duplicate notes after updating to version 10.0.3, but we believe the root cause of that issue is different than the one that caused this duplication issue. In this case, I've created this thread: For those of you on this thread that have updated to 10.0.3. already, but are still experiencing duplication issues, please post on that thread. (I'll move your posts to this new thread @Cherice B @ej8899) Let me know if you have any other questions!

  18. Hi All, Just wanted to let you know that I've moved several of the bug/issue reports here to the specific threads that are dedicated to those issues. The reason for this is to help ensure that we're more accurately quantifying the number of users experiencing specific issues. My apologies if this disrupts the continuity of some of the discussions here, and feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions!

  19. @PinkElephantthank you again for testing "my" scenario (you did previously the "search within shared notebooks" test, too) - in the meantime I decided to surprise my wife with a brand new MacBook Air ("Gold"), since she is using several tools more & more on an almost daily basis...iPad Air 2 will then be our Internet Radio device etc. 🙂

  20. Thanks. Moving 6000+ notes took a few hours (less than expected) and was a pleasant surprise actually. Keep It downloaded them all to iOS in less than 30 minutes (around 20 GB). That's what great software does after all. As an Evernote premium user since early 2008, I think I have the same "right" to offer possible solutions to other users as you do. Only that my proposal didn't involve buying new hardware. In fact, I'll write more about the superior features of Keep It shortly and explain my migration in more detail (including possible shortcomings), to offer some more insight into my decision to leave. After all, this does relate to a lot of users' complaints with the new version. Of course, you are free to keep recommending people buy new hardware as well. I just mentioned a different solution.

  22. Divorce your iPad Air 2 or ... 😱 Just tried my wife’s air, Air 2, 64GB, WiFi-only, 42GB used, iOS 14.0.1, EN 10.0.3, no offline content. Yes, way slower than my iPad Pro 10.5. Starting the app takes 5sec, switching to another note appr. 3 sec. When calling a new note, it seems to think a little about it, before it starts loading. Once the note itself is open, opening attachments (a lot of pdfs, in the low MB range, from scans) is pretty fast, and starts immediately. I tried some notes, and maybe there is a difference between own and shared-to-me content. As if it first waits for a permission to access the share, and then begins downloading. But this is just an impression. Handling shared content is anyhow one of the very dark spots of this iOS release, still not fixed with 10.0.3. It is as if EN management would not know that sharing is one of the key functions for many of us. Easy solution (and cheaper as a divorce, be assured): Get a new iPad. Even when the Air 2 is still supported by the latest iOS release, it is probably not the machine to try and do anything productive. For surfing & Mails probably still o.k. Or wait and see if it gets fixed with the next releases.

  23. Just tested with the german version of the FireFox web-clipper: Here/there I haven't any problems to enter these chars in title or comment-field. Doesn't seem to be a general problem with clippings in FireFox.

  28. No, my google account has not been compromised, there are no accesses there. I suspect that first I created the evernote account with a password , this was about 2014 or 2015. In some manner then the account could be accessed with google without using the original pass. I think that this is the password that has been compromised. I've seen that under security resume (on Friday was not working) that the password has not been changed since the original creation. Now I have changed it and I have enabled the two-step factor. I had some passwords there that I have changed and moved to a non-cloud storage like keepassx to avoid these problems in the future

  29. Also, the offline notebook selection list is sorted reverse alphabetic, so apparently there haven't been application testing for that feature at all, that kind of bugs would have been detected in those for sure. Markku

  30. Glad it is working for you. It is not for me. V10 is so bad, it's driven me into the forums - I am usually a contented user who just gets on with it. I have to agree with Gavin - I am now (reluctantly) looking at OneNote. For goodness sakes, I have ignored ON for the five or so years I've had an MS Office 365 sub, because I'd prefer to pay for Evernote. But I am not here to debug an alpha release.

  31. I've used EN since 2009 and thus have a long history with it. I recommended it to many people in all those years. I have had many thousands of notes in it, so I think I'm a heavy user. I don't want to prove anything. I have no expertise in a lot of areas, but do have some knowledge in few ones, one of which is development. I'm developing since 1983 and have seen a lot of toolsets. I once also looked at Electron and walked away quickly from it. It's very tempting to use a cross-platform like this. It will save you a lot of time. But if you want to create an app that is excellent and provides a good user experience then the only way to do this is going the native route. At my work I *have* to use several Electron and/or web based apps. I hate it. It's embarrassing that I need a PC with 32GB to be able to work a bit comfortable, because: Teams uses between 800-1200 MB memory. Visual Code uses between 600-1000 MB memory (for editing a 2KB html file ....). Opening a 20MB XML file takes 1 minute to load. Power BI starts with 1GB memory and after an hour or so working it raises to 15GB-20GB (not a typo) to work with 200MB of data. Etc. At home I use a Mac and can choose what I want, so that's only native. Opening a 20MB file takes 3 seconds to load in the native BBEdit. Native apps also give you the native look-and-feel and are well integrated with the OS. If I work on a Mac I want apps that behave like a Mac app. Same on Windows. You may see this as a lecture or see me as someone who wants to prove something. Whatever. I just think EN made a big mistake and I just don't want to use a note taking app that uses 1,2 GB of memory (after an hour or so when you have opened several notes). I hope that EN is doing well and I hope that its users, those who stay with it, are very happy with it. But I'm out.

  32. Recent response from Evernote Support regarding this issue: "I've checked with our developers, we are currently aware of this issue. Here is the workaround: Select one notebook at a time in Evernote Settings > Notebooks > Offline notebooks Open iOS Settings > Display and Brightness > Auto-Lock > press Never Plug the iPhone or iPad to a power source Leave your phone plugged with Evernote open for a few hours Repeat with more notebooks." For users with more than a handful of notebooks, it's not really a solution and I don't think new notes are automatically downloaded for offline viewing. Hopefully, a fix will be implemented sooner rather than later.

  35. I'm guessing that staff read the forum as I sometimes see replies. It would be helpful to hear news about this issue. Currently, Evernote on iOS is not downloading notes for offline viewing. This makes it unusable without an internet connection. I'm increasingly frustrated that using Evernote seems to demand an ongoing battle to retain basic functionality. I understand that development can sometimes be a case of one step back and two forward but it's disappointing when the most basic functions cease to work. The absence of news and updates only makes that sense of disappointment and frustration more pronounced. So, to any Evernote staff reading posts, how about some feedback and reassurance that steps are being taken to quickly fix the things that once worked and are now broken?

  37. I've made a simple python program to demonstrate the error concretely. Please see attached. One must set EVERNOTE_DEV_TOKEN appropriately in your environment. When I have no untagged notes, running the program gives this: $ python2 ./untagged.py NotesMetadataList(stoppedWords=None, notes=[], searchedWords=None, startIndex=0, updateCount=173443, totalNotes=16) And when I have exactly one untagged note, I get this: $ python2 ./untagged.py NotesMetadataList(stoppedWords=None, notes=[NoteMetadata(updated=None, created=None, deleted=None, contentLength=None, title='test untagged note', notebookGuid=None, updateSequenceNum=None, tagGuids=None, largestResourceMime=None, attributes=None, guid='942fb5ef-9382-4775-a4ec-5289baa6b3ec', largestResourceSize=None)], searchedWords=None, startIndex=0, updateCount=173443, totalNotes=17) Notice that in each case "NotesMetadataList.totalNotes" is off by 16. That is the bug. I do not know what could be the root cause. ( I want to point out that this python script illustrates the problem is now reproducible outside of the webclient, although the problem is still visible there. ) untagged.py

  38. I believe there is a larger issue in searching for Untagged notes, beginning somewhere around June 2020. In the webclient, when searching for notes using "-tag:*", I see "focusclient-0.js:15219 XHR finished loading: POST "https://www.evernote.com/shard/s1/enweb/notestore" in the console, and "16 notes" in the top of the note list. Within the note list, I see slots marked "Loading...", which never fill. (See screenshot attached). This is in an account that currently has no untagged notes. Worse, using the unofficial command-line client against the same account, "geeknote find --tag '-*'" hangs. Something is wrong.

  39. Dear Evernote Dev Team, I am an long-time Evernote Premium user, fan and advocate. It is part of my daily workflow, for hours per day I might add. You guys have done a wonderful job with this product and my hat goes off to you... However, this feature would be HUGE to me, and apparently many others. PLEASE consider adding this feature sooner than later. As mentioned, I am loyal but I have begun to research alternatives that would offer this feature. I really don't want to switch though. just being honest You guys rock!!! Best Regards, Craig

  40. Just to be sure we're understanding your question correctly, I think you're asking whether attachments (not just the text of a note) are stored locally. The answer is yes, I believe, attachments are incorporated into the content of the note in Evernote's local database on your computer, though not (I believe!) as separate documents. And they are also uploaded to Evernote's master version of your note database (in the "cloud"), unless the note is in a local (unsynced) notebook. This implies that if you attach, say, a .JPG file from your computer to an Evernote note and sync it, you could delete the original .JPG from your computer and still have it stored in Evernote.

  44. Feature Request: I dont know where to submit feaure requests, so i sent it through here. Evernote's notetaking capabilitites are amazing and versatile. Within the text note, users can create outlines with the bullet feature. I would like to see a new feature where after users create bullets, indented bullets, and sub-bullets, users are able to collapse and expand the indented bullets in order to create a more simplified view of the their created outline document.
    1 point
  45. Being not immediately simple doesn't mean it can't be done. Think of how useful this feature becomes when using Evernote's presentation mode: it clearly helps to make information easier to digest when looking at the main headlines, whereas you could focus only on the collapsed details in case the appropriate audience needs to know. Among the huge benefits of this functionality is time saving as you will not need to rework the information every time your audience changes, as is usually required in the case of standard document and presentation apps such as text editors, PowerPoint and Keynote. Collapsable bullet points bring the best of both worlds of bullet lists, mind maps and/or OPML applications to the fore. For the sake of getting a better understanding of how well this concept works and to get a grasp of its usefulness, please, take a look at http://www.workflowy.com or their instructional videos. Evernote coding team, I have every faith in your ability to bring this about and I am genuinely grateful for it. Keep up that excellent work you have been doing and feel proud of what you have achieved
