  1. Feature Request: Add Outlining Capabilities to Evernote Evernote is great, but it's dying for the ability to create Notes that contain Outlines which are easily collapsed and expanded during creation and in use. One way to implement it would be a switchable editing mode, between standard formatting or outline mode. In outline mode, pressing the Enter key creates a new outline item, and pressing the Tab key changes the current item into a sub-item. Clicking on an item's action icon causes its sub-items to collapse out of, or expand into view. That's the way the Ecco Pro PIM did it, and somethi

  3. I love Evernote, but it's preventing me from putting in sensitive content. For example, I can't keep a personal journal notebook, because other people (i.e. girlfriend, family members, etc.) could one day be looking at those notes, especially since they know that I use Evernote often for many purposes. Evernote already has the ability to encrypt single notes. This is useful for things like storing passwords or other temporary sensitive content. But it's not practical to encrypt many notes one by one. I wish I could password-protect a whole notebook. This way, I can do a

  4. I installed the beta today, and I see I cannot access Evernote preferences anymore in the Windows app. I want to disable the spell check because it has been enabled suddenly and is making the entire app borderline unusable to me. Red lines everywhere make for a deeply unpleasant experience. Even if it was possible to add items to the spell checking dictionary, the nature of my work would make that a pointless endeavor. Can this please be updated urgently? I find it absurd that such a basic setting is not available. I've looked around my online account settings and the app's options, and I

  5. Are there any plans to add inline code block (like Markdown's `inline code block`)?

  6. Since ENEX is simply an XML file, it's not too hard to convert spreadsheets to Evernote notes. Way back in 2012, I wrote a clumsy converter. Too bad I hadn't found Marty Zigman's blog post (Importing Microsoft Excel Data into Evernote without a Premium Account) before I had finished mine. Anyway, in the comments, many Excel users chimed in with various hints, questions and, most importantly, modifications to Marty's script. I have to use Doc.Write and UTF-8, because I want to preserve the Chinese characters that are pasted into Excel. Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to force the lin

  8. As I understand the description of Conduit here, it's a client-side component. Again, the little python script I included earlier talks directly to the API - no client involved.

  9. This is helpful. I didn’t realize it was impossible, and that clarifies things. There are lots of other options, but most of them are from startups that may prove no more stable than Evernote has been in recent years.

  11. Another vote for this feature. It seems clear to me that Evernote will never make this available, and they don't care how many customers they lose. I'm a paying customer, and I'm leaving because of this. Notejoy, Nimbus Note, OneNote and a host of others let you nest about as much as you want. Even 1 extra level of nesting from Evernote, and I'd stay because their web clipper is by far the best. Still, it's easier to work around the web clipper issues with another product (and hope it develops the features I need eventually) than deal with not having nested notebooks. Nested folders are how

  13. I understand there is a merge note command, but I am in need of the opposite. I have a bunch of papers to scan (and am using Scandrop directly into Evernote), and need to separate the scanned documents into separate notes. Any suggestions? Thanks!

  14. Hi. Should be a pretty simple fix - you seem to have a link to the installer, not to the main executable file, which should be in this folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Evernote\Evernote\ Got to that folder and look for Evernote.exe - right-click the file and choose 'send to' from the drop-down menu. Choose the option 'send to desktop (create shortcut)' Use that new shortcut in future. (Delete any others you may have.)

  15. I believe something like this has been reported here a few times. I don't recall what the solution is, but if you search the forum for it, you should find some suggestions.

  16. It'd be wonderful if there was a way to establish a view for each notebook. I find different views (or in particular different orders!) useful for different notebooks. For example, for one notebook I always need to see notes organised alphabetically, whereas for another one I always prefer to see them organised by 'last updated'.

  17. Thanks again, but in the Beta there is no such menu

  18. It is distressing that multiple beta updates have occurred without such a simple feature being added. Thanks for your input. In my opinion, Evernote should not be inviting users to participate in a beta when the software is better described as in an alpha state. If much needed updates haven't occurred yet I assume they will take much longer to arrive. I'll uninstall the beta then and reinstall the regular Evernote app.

  21. Yes, I realize Evernote can't do it. That's why this is a feature request. It seems obvious to me that if you have a feature that merges notes, it would be useful to have a feature to split them. I have been using external scripting for this; but it is less than convenient. I have multi megabits of data that I would like to convert to Evernote.

  23. I agree. I need this functionality. It must be possible. When. I double click on one of several images in a note, EN selects just that one image. So it knows that this notes image is a collection. But I cant cut/paste that single image! And I have some very large compound images that would be painful to do one at a time, even if it were possible. Is there an applescript solution, maybe?

  28. Thanks, we had reports about similar problems recently, and have filed an internal bug to improve our handling of plaintext cut-and-paste between Evernote and other applications.
