  1. Hi. IIRC that's resolved by setting the correct window size, then quitting out of Evernote (forcing a sync) and logging back in...

  2. I found plenty of article and tutorials on table of content. But they all seem to only consider it for many notes. I would link the table of contents to be in one note only. Anyone know if thats possible?

  3. After this last update, I am assuming, my notes auto-reset/scroll back to the top of the note after editing a note. So I can be editing a note halfway through a long note and when I hide the keyboard after edit it shoots the document back up to the top, losing my place in the note. How do I fix this?

  4. This is - sorry - a remark that does not show insight into how a web application works. Modern browsers do not allow applications to be run, they are based on a concept of internal and controlled add-ons, mostly executed in a sandbox. It was a security nightmare when external stuff like Java Code and Flash could be executed from a browser session, running malware as full apps through the browser backdoor. The cookie for Web Clipper stores the access information - or do you want to log in every time you want to clip something, and again, and again ... ? If you don’t like cookies in general, just block them by browser settings, and put EN on the whitelist. You will probably not have much fun surfing that way, but the web clipper should work.

  11. Hi all. Well, here it is 8 months later and the checkbox indent/bullet bug still exists. Apparently, the beta editor has been released recently, with that bug! I'm sure this is not high on the bug list, but it sure is an annoyance to those of us that use the checkbox extensively for project and to-do lists. Here are my observations and comments about the check box when using the web editor. I have confirmed in the current editor the bug that steve_montana mentions in the beta editor. Using the keyboard shortcut, Ctrl+Shift+C, creates an indented checkbox. This then appears as a bullet item in the Android mobile app. Checkbox is no longer in the editor ribbon. Now it is in the Insert pull down menu. Please move back the the ribbon. When opening a new line, "Enter", from a line with the checkbox, a new checkbox is not automatically created. Instead, a checkbox has to be manually inserted, mouse move to insert button, then click on the checkbox. This is too much effort, especially to execute for each line in a longer list. Previously, if I did not need a checkbox on my next line, a simple and quick "Backspace" keystroke deleted it. Please restore the automatic checkbox on a new line feature. Another user in this forum suggested a multi-click check box with blank, a check mark, and an x for the box status selections. I like this suggestion and second his recommendation. These features and improvements may benefit somebody, but certainly not this user. Please create and restore a more user friendly checkbox functionality.

  12. All for getting the foundations rock solid. Not bothered by the lack of news. Although I sense the company may be going through culture problems, perhaps by over-reading the body language in the last few behind the scenes videos. Also noticed the forums are not very active as such compared to other tools. But, Evernote is hiring data scientists and product designers on their career pages. All fo these are healthy signs for a company ready to pivot (culturally), getting in some fresh eyes and hearts and apparently not panicking with flashy competitor noise. Perhaps this is dealing with attrition, perhaps pressure is cascading down... Personally, I hate cognitive overheads, I love Evernote because the editor is simple, i have memorised keyboards shortcuts on Mac and the tool just gets out of my way. Its stable, its reliable and it doesn't offer me too many distractions. However, I have also discovered that there are certain features that are a must. For example, back linking and blocks like in RoamResearch and Obsidian. I am experimenting with my personal knowledge management outside Evernote nowadays. I hate juggling between tools but i have to as that feature gives me what i want. I still keep PDFs and other documents on Evernote (except for large ones that don't work in my quota) I also think the task lists and tables can do with a bit more intelligence, things that Notion, Coda and Airtable do. Saves me repetitive work, but those tools are so loaded that with a vocabulary that it slows me down to a drag. The point is not about my wishlist, I take it more as a long term perspective. For the past 5 years roughly, each November I have been going through an overhead of deciding to churn or not, somehow i stick after trials with others. Is Evernote ensuring their most loyal customer base remains intact? Awesome if they are! Is Evernote going to revamp some of its foundations to allow features to be built that previously weren't possible, e.g. backlinks (graph database required), shorthands for markdown, embedded videos, etc (all requiring web in a desktop) etc. I am not sure yet, and this is what will bug me in November again. PS: I realised I lost my Evernote wallet Edits:: 28 AUG, 2020: Obsidian doesn't have blocks as of today.

  13. Hello all! We know this has been a longstanding thread and issue with the current version of the app. We've been hard at work on our new app, which is now in beta. While it's still a work in progress, we think that this behavior (restoring the note and position in the note when leaving the app and coming back) is much better in the new version. If any of y'all in this thread aren't already beta testers and are willing to try it out, we'd love your feedback, especially around this area. To do that, first sign up for the beta program here: https://evernote.com/betaprogram Then, please DM me your email address and I can get you set up. Thanks!

  14. With apologies to Evernote, I'd probably say 'Google Docs' off the bat. Sharing there is pretty transparent and updates are saved back to the server immediately. With Evernote you have the complication that if you edit a note, your changes will sync back to the server over the next several minutes (depending on how your account is set up) and if someone else changes that note in the meantime you could wind up with one set of changes being overwritten or both sets being saved as 'conflicting changes'. It's not usually much of a problem, but if you're dealing with others, it helps not to create any potential traps to fall into. Evernote has a connection with Google - How to attach Google Drive files to notes - so it should be fairly easy to create a note listing all the files for a project. If you copy the public share link for that page and send it to your contacts, they'll always have the most up to date list of files available to them. There's a slight security hole there - anyone with that URL can see the page. You may want to password-protect your files individually to avoid mischief. Evernote notes are not searchable by public search engines unless you actively promote them as such, so the note won't be found by casual searching, but the access is there for anyone with the URL. Hope that helps...

  15. Original poster here. I'd like to see Evernote improve its synchronization technology. I just did a test with Google Docs, and when I type on my desktop, the letters appear on my laptop within about .5 seconds. Frankly, I don't need a .5 second response time like Google Docs has. But I do need a 5 second response time. Fixing synchronization so that it is within spitting distance of gDocs would take a big engineering effort. You'd need "always on" connections to allow "push" messaging, and the messaging protocol would have to be redesigned around the idea of sending single actions or keystrokes at a time. With that said, it could be done. Etherpad-lite was, if I recall correctly, written basically by a single developer: https://etherpad.org/ I don't mind paying for Evernote, but whenever I worry about whether changes have already synced, I wish that the document were in gDocs instead of Evernote. With that said, I'm quite impressed by the new management and the development pace since I made my original post, above. This is a gorgeous new forum redesign, by the way!

  18. Hi All, You may have noticed that all threads requesting an Evernote integration with Grammarly have been merged into this thread, regardless of platform specificity. This was done in order to better enable us to quantify and qualify user requests, and amplify their voice. While this does not mean this is a feature that will be coming, we certainly want to relay user feedback/sentiment to our various teams. Moving forward, please put all commentary and votes for an Evernote/Grammarly integration here!

  19. I don't have Grammarly but it does sound like a good idea. I think the more integrations Evernote have with popular productivity tools, the more new customers it will attract. Of course, more integrations also may mean more problems. So they would have to pick and choose. By the way, I assume you are using the desktop app, otherwise it should work on the web app, correct?

  21. Hi all - we are aware of this issue and hope to have a fix out soon. This isn't intended behavior. It seems to occur in one of two scenarios when at the bottom of a longer note: when checking a checkbox and when hiding the keyboard . I'll update this post when the issue is resolved. Thanks for your patience!

  22. This is a very, very, long-standing HTML feature, and oh so very useful for long notes. Two features I see essential for long (more than one page/screen) notes: Anchors/bookmarks Collapsible sections Both have been available in web pages since the early days of the web (late 1990's). ATTN: Evernote/ @Jackolicious, @SoftwareMarcus, @Justin Street: Come on, this is the very definition of productivity!
