  1. I loved watching the TV re-runs of the Three Stooges when growing up in the 70's/80's. And great to see @CalS & @gazumped have used them in their profile pics. So please, c'mon guys @DTLow, @jefito, @Dave-in-Decatur somebody pickup the last character... and for the record everyone knows Curly (not accounted for yet, pictured centre in attached image) was the most popular 😉

  2. Hi, I would like to request an option to disable automatic emojis in the Windows desktop version. Thank you.

  3. Evernote 6.13.14 for Windows I was just updating some tech notes, and went to make a note about a drive letter and the EN editor replaced my "D:" with a small black rectangle. I presume this was supposed to be an automatic text formatting element, and I can't think of anything else this might be except for a frowny emoji? I've tried searching the forums and can't find much on this, except for people asking for emoji support. I've also tried disabling the Automatically format text elements option, but that didn't help with this. Is there a way to turn this off that I'm missing?

  5. Hi, thank you for answer. I opened another account to try and chose a different choice. Just when creating a new note is the template ranking changed. Other than that, I couldn't see any difference.

  7. Thanks @gazumped for your reply. I ended up just clipping the first paragraph or so of the article text only, and the URL. That sufficed. It's not a big deal, except I wasted about an hour, maybe a little more, trying to figure out what was wrong - with Clipper, my computer, my Evernote account. It would really be great if the error was correct, then it would have been obvious what was wrong. It really churned and gave a lot of errors in the log file, so there is probably room to make this smarter in an error condition. I realize they don't do a whole lot with Clipper though, that may never happen lol. At least it's documented now...

  8. As you indicated we already have the share button; more buttons could get cluttered We can also right-click on the note in the list > Copy Note Link (Mac) >>1) Is there a way you guys could allow tag links? There's a request posted at the note linked below To indicate your support, use the vote button at the top left corner of the discussion

  9. @Stacey Thank you for letting me know! I'll be reaching out directly so I can gather some more information. @s_scott1 Does this happen with any attachment? Or just when you use specific ones?

  10. Thank you, The shortened addresses envisaged are for my personal use. Despite this limited use, I feared that tinyurl or bitly addresses could be the subject of chronological publications and subject to research by specialists Good bye

  11. Hi All, We're excited to announce the launch of the Evernote Forum Digest! At the beginning of each month we'll be releasing a new edition that contains news/updates related to the discussion forums, a recap of announcements from the previous month, as well as a collection of information and resources that we think you might find helpful. You can check out May's edition here. Also, we've added a link to the Forum Digest on the main forum menu bar. There, you can refer back to older editions of the Forum Digest when they are available. 12. Yes - since you are on Premium, issue a support ticket. It would be nice if there is a solution if you post it here for others.

  13. Thanks for the response...I guess it's helpful to know that it's something not seen yet - at the same a bit disconcerting! I'll see who else might post in the next day or so and go the support route. If there's this is an issue that can help someone else down the line, it would land here.

  15. No idea from my side. If nobody here kicks in, try issue a support ticket. Support is able to review a system dump, if there is any, and see where things go wrong.

  17. The gremlin may be back. I forwarded an email an hour ago and it has not arrived in EN as yet. Typically it takes a minute or less. Thanks. EDIT. An email forwarded right before the missing one arrived just fine, a 1 minute lag. EDIT TO THE EDIT. Resent the missing missive and it arrived this time. Hopefully the first will arrive as well so as not to have to worry about lost content. FINAL EDIT. The missing emails arrived. All is good.

  18. Hi All, The email issue should now be resolved, and you should be able to email notes into your account. Any emails that were sent while this issue was occurring should begin to show up in your Evernote Accounts. However, if it still hasn't shown up and you need it immediately, please retry emailing the note and see if it now appears. Please continue to let us know if you're encountering further issues!

  20. Dave, I agree with your analysis. Now we can just hope that someday EN will provide improved background colors for tables: I long for a pale yellow or cream.

  21. Hello All: I am been a long time Evernote user primary for document/email filing and project management. However I have had to embrace Notability on my IPAD 12.9" because it is an easy tool for annotating CAD drawings that have been converted to PDF. The ease and simplicity of Notability makes Penultimate and the entire user experience with Evernote very poor. When will you (if ever) support annotation features directly ? Also, we have been experimenting with One Note due to it's good annotation capabilities and it wonks pretty well. I really generally don't care for One Note but we may be forced to migrate to achieve cross platform as Notability is only Apple based. But truly, I don't want to give up Evernote Please HELP !! Regards, Bruce Torello - btorello@sdaoc.com

  22. Highlight the rows in one of the tables (click on the first row then shift+click on the last row) and then drag the rows into the other table.

  23. Feature suggestion: Hyperlinks/internal links to tags so that a reference to a tag could be inserted into another evernote note. This would allow you to reference the items that have been tagged with a specific tag in a longer note by clicking on the tag link. This might be enabled by having a "Copy internal link" function on a tag (from the navigator pane) which creates a URL for the tag of the form "evernote:///...", much as it is done for internal links to notes. The internal link to the tag could then be inserted into notes, word documents, etc., like any other internal link. When clicked, evernote would bring up a navigator of the notes having the tag, just as it would do if the tag were clicked from the favorites, tag view, or navigator pane. (Note that this is not the same use case as tagging the note with a tag, which, yes, I know I can do. The tag would be accessed within the flow of the document in association with explanatory text).

  24. Quickie clarifications for those following along... Yes, per @jefito, Conduit is common *plumbing* on the client-side. Conduit has no relation to the UX. Every Evernote client built on Conduit could have a different UX and Conduit wouldn't mind. Users might mind, and we would definitely mind, but Conduit wouldn't. That's basically the whole point. Where Conduit figures in is anywhere that information flows between client and cloud - whether that information is content moving back and forth or a service call of some kind. We expect all of that information to flow through Conduit (on the client side). The goal of conduit is to have common functionality behave in consistent and predictable ways across all of our clients. Sync is the easiest function to understand this with: we'd like all clients to sync a recently modified note (whether that's sync up or sync down) in a consistent way (allowing of course for variances in whether or not that particular note is supposed to be synced to that device). To the concern that @CalS raises about local data stores, part of Conduit's job is to interface to the appropriate technology that forms the local data store (which, unsurprisingly, is a pretty different technology layer on a browser, mobile device or on a PC). That, along with the different memory / CPU / power profiles of the different devices on which our clients run, drives the need for per-device optimization that we talk about in the video, that makes Conduit such a beast to get right. And finally, Conduit, in and of itself, does not close the door to device-specific customizations or integrations. To the extent that device-specific functionality needs to get to the cloud, it will have to go through Conduit at some point. But the functionality that fits that description is usually travelling a well-trodden (ie. pre-existing) path on its way to the cloud, rather than having to carve its own unique API pathway. As @CalS says, yes, there are so many questions. But I do not have time to answer them all (nor, quite honestly, have we actually converged on some of the answers yet - if only because hard experience teaches one not to constrain oneself to an answer before you actually need it). Hopefully the elaborations above provide some clarity. Back to lurking, ian

  25. I would find it very helpful to be able to create links within notes ... especially for those notes that are long ... so that I could jump to a section or place within that same note. Often my notes get long, and I edit them frequently, but I spend a lot of time scrolling up and down trying to find my place. If I could only create a marker or two ... or createose a couple of links (almost a table of contents?) within those notes. Thanks!

  26. I would also pipe in that I do NOT like this " feature". I take all kinds of technical notes with weird combinations of characters. I was just trying to add a note the needed ":p" (linux shell command option) and the EN app kept trying to convert it to some kind of block icon or something. Pissed away 1/2 hr or so before figuring out a way around it. Totally productivity killer.

  27. Evernote added a limit to .ENEX file sizes because some .ENEX importers couldn't handle large sized files, so large .ENEX exports are now split in the way you describe. To stop Evernote from splitting .ENEX exports, go to Tools / Options /Note; in the "Note merge options" section, look for "Split export enex files by [] MB" and set the value there to 0. Reference:

  28. Just want to add my voice and say that the automatic emoji conversion (with no opt-out!!?) is deeply frustrating. I would like to close a parenthesis and then use a colon, but ) : (without the space in between) transforms into a frowny face. This is on Windows Desktop, by the way. Here's what I think about this forced feature:

  29. Here's an example: I take a lot of notes in which I outline sequences of movements, and abbreviate the doer of the action as "A:" or "D:". But typing D: forces a sad-face emoji. Every. Single. Time. And no, this is NOT disabled by turning off the auto-formatting options in Tool > Options > Note. Forcing emojis on me to begin with is stupid. Not being able to turn them off is just a baffling UX oversight. Frankly, it's aggravating and I'm giving serious consideration to abandoning this platform in favor of Dropbox Paper, whose formatting options are far, far more robust.

  30. I moved the request to the Feature Request Forum I also use a date prefix for the note title. I use a script to process my notes: notebook, title, tags, reminder ... The script inserts the date in the format I want. set theTitle to theSubjectDate & " " & theSubject & " " & theDescription See the post linked below for setting the date format on a Mac
