I love Evernote, but it's preventing me from putting in sensitive content. For example, I can't keep a personal journal notebook, because other people (i.e. girlfriend, family members, etc.) could one day be looking at those notes, especially since they know that I use Evernote often for many purposes. Evernote already has the ability to encrypt single notes. This is useful for things like storing passwords or other temporary sensitive content. But it's not practical to encrypt many notes one by one. I wish I could password-protect a whole notebook. This way, I can do a lot more with Evernote. If I can encrypt single notes, then why can't Evernote just allow me to encrypt entire notebooks? If reason behind this is because Evernote thinks one could lose a lot of data if a notebook password is forgotten, then perhaps Evernote can help recover the passwords through email. In the meantime, I'm stuck with using other apps (i.e. Pages, Day One, etc) to password-protect my content. Any insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Whatever you guys are doing to allow Grammarly to work in your product, please don't change it ever for any reason. It irritates me to no end that I can't use it in Google Docs and other things I like, and that's mainly why I'm here.

It would be great to support selectively sync notebooks. Thanks! Our notebook becomes bigger and bigger especial if you are a premium user. However, our Mac hard drive is usually just 256GB or 512GB. iOS, Android version Evernote all supports. Alternote also supports this feature. Resizing images works great in EN - it would be nice if I could select many images at once and have a resize apply to all of them. As far as I can tell, it is only possible to resize images one at a time.

@MALAPPA S B ??? This is not a support forum, and your post is less than clear. Writing in full sentences instead of a bunch of words would be a good first step.

Hi. As a user and not a staff member I tend to follow the various updates and videos that float through here, and recently - although my vapour brain can't remember the where or the when - I saw a comment by Evernote's CEO that the way that sharing and/ or chat was set up initially may not have been the ideal way for today's software environment. Evernote are getting to the end of a yeas-long project to redevelop all the various clients so presumably with be updating the mechanisms of chat and share along the way. With some (or a lot) of ground-up work going on however they wouldn't have been able to look at improving those services until the basic user-facing interface is nailed down so I'm guessing that's last in the queue for attention. Evernote though don't generally make comments on what may or may not be in development and when or if it will be released, so it's just a waiting game...

It's not posted anywhere officially, but I definitely saw it from an official source. Might have been from the CEO's Twitter account. I also saw some people talking on another public forum about being invited to a limited Evernote web beta test and they reported being on a 6.x version. That's definitely not official, but the info triangulates so I'm fairly confident it's accurate (or at least was accurate as of the recent past). Edit: This also matches up with what Evernote has stated publicly in their videos about having limited tests for more advanced versions, and what some people are posting on these forums, in that most people seem to be on v5.29 but a few people are on v6.5, v6.6, etc.

As far as I know, 5.29.0 is the "broadly available" web beta version. The 6.x versions are (currently) more limited tests. Apparently, you've been quietly placed in a v6.6 test, but only for Chrome, not for Firefox. At some point 6.x will become the "broadly available" version. Hopefully soon, because I'm still on 5.29 myself and would like to see some new features.

The EvernoteSpotlight quit unexpectedly Bug has been going on for months. It even occurred with me on a NEW MacBookPro 16" 2019 with 64 GB RAM, 2 TB SSD with the only addition being a FRESH Evernote installation. The problem is NOT with the Evernote application. The problem is the EvernoteSpotlight PLUGIN that is installed in Evernote itself. This is the piece of code that crashes. ---------- Evernote supports solution DOES NOT WORK. They want you to completely deinstall Evernote and wiping out all traces and files of Evernote then reinstalling Evernote and waiting for your own files to download to your Mac. EvernoteSpotlight will still crash. Their solution is not a permanent solution. It does not answer nor eliminate why the EvernoteSpotlight crashes. It is also UNTENABLE to repeatedly reinstall Evernote and its files particularly when you have a large database of Evernote files. This takes hours to download. ---------- SUSPECT CAUSE OF CRASHES: I suspect the problem is that EvernoteSpotlight may be encountering certain PDFs that it chokes on when it tries to OCR them for searches. A similar problem was crashing a different app called KeepIt - which has a similar function to Evernote but is a local Mac App what stores its notes on iCloud. KeepIt was trying to do OCR on PDFs so that it could do a Spotlight Search on the contents. But this function kept crashing. I stopped KeepIt from doing OCR on PDFs (since I do OCR using a different App) and KeepIt has stopped crashing. If EvernoteSpotlight could just more elegantly abort OCR functions that fail and simply AVOID crashing the entire EvernoteSpotlight plugin, then this would get rid of the problem. ---------- The EvernoteSpotlight plugin has TWO SEPARATE FUNCTIONS: 1) SPOTLIGHT SEARCH: It apparently allows you to do Mac OS Spotlight Searches on Evernote's Contents stored on your Mac. 2) SHARE TO EVERNOTE: It allows you to Print PDFs to Evernote, Share PDFs to Evernote, Clip Web Content to Evernote. I AM FINE WITHOUT SPOTLIGHT SEARCHES ON EVERNOTE. But SHARE TO EVERNOTE is VITAL. ---------- The villain is the EvernoteSpotlight PLUGIN that is installed within the Evernote App. YOU CAN REMOVE IT MANUALLY TO STOP THE CRASHING. Simply: 1. Select the Finder menu item "Go to Folder..." 2. Enter: /Applications/Evernote.app/Contents/PlugIns to directly go to the Evernote Plugins Folder 3. Then trash the EvernoteSpotlight.appex file THIS STOPS THE CRASHING. HOWEVER LOSING THE SHARE TO EVERNOTE FUNCTIONS IS DEVASTATING TO THE EASE OF USE OF EVERNOTE. I need to be able to Print PDFs to Evernote and to Share PDFs to Evernote. Otherwise, I have to print PDFs and manually drag them into Evernote. This is much more tedious and time consuming. The crashing will stop when you trash the EvernoteSpotlight Plugin. And Evernote will itself run just fine. Crashes will recur only when Evernote itself is updated and the EvernoteSpotlight Plugin is once again reinstalled. IF SOMEONE COULD CREATE A SEPARATE PRINT PDF AND SHARE PDF PLUGIN FOR EVERNOTE and simply eliminate the EvernoteSpotlight plugin, this gets rid of this bug and solves the problem of crashes and will keep us all happy.

I have also found this a problem (and have reported it via the web editor feedback button). Here is my experience: It happens when I use the web client. (I've not experienced it on the Windows client.) It happens in Firefox and Chrome, both on Windows 10. It happens on different Windows 10 machines. I have only noticed it since the Beta Editor was introduced. But... It happens on both the Beta Editor and the Classic Editor. Here is what happens: I am typing in the middle of a text note (in Beta or Classic editor of the web client). At some random point the following things happen in quick succession: The last few keystrokes are suddenly undone. If I was typing this means the last few characters disappear from the note. If I just pasted a bit of text that might disappear. The cursor jumps to the start of the note. The screen does not move to the top of the note until I type the next characters. Note that those things happen in quick succession. So - if I am typing without pausing - it looks like the cursor has just jumped to the top of the screen in the middle of typing. But on closer inspection - when I scroll back down to where I was typing originally - I also find the few characters before what's at the top of the screen have disappeared. For example, if I type "Once upon a time" at the bottom of the document and 1, 2, and 3 happen just after I type "upon a" then I will see " time" at the top of the screen, scroll back to the bottom, and see just "Once up". A slightly different effect happens if I am typing and the bug occurs a moment after I pause to think. In this case, steps 1 and 2 have happened, but 3 has not yet happened because I've not typed anything more. In this case the effect is that I will see my typed text, I will see the last few keystrokes mysteriously undone before my eyes(!), and the blinking cursor after that text will have disappeared. Scrolling to the top of the note I will see the cursor blinking away there. Yes, this is very annoying, and yes, it does make it near-impossible to work in the web editor.

Hi @SAGAR4695, thanks for the updates. If you're seeing duplicate copies being made on the older (current) version of Evernote Web, that's usually an indicator there's something amiss with the network connection. If the connection drops or there are connectivity issues the current web app tries to save the current content by creating a new duplicate note with the changes. However, the new beta web app should be continuously syncing and not creating the duplicate note (or losing data, hopefully), but it's possible the network connection may also be related to what you're experiencing there. Do you possibly have another network to try and see if the same issue happens on either the current web or new beta web versions? While we continue investigating this, if possible, please download and install the free desktop application of Evernote - this has a local database and should not be as affected by possible connectivity issues.

What a brilliant response. Why do you even reply? This thread and forum is about improving moving forward not jerks running users off with "maybe you should be looking somewhere else". When you run out of intelligent responses that add to the solution you can just not reply and move on because "if it's not for you..." is about as juvenile a response as you can make, it demonstrates you're out of ideas to contribute so do us all a favor and don't troll treads where people are looking for positive change with your negative infantile responses that you've made 200 times before, its boring.

I am a paid user and have many Notebooks. I have notebooks that relate to my hobbies as well as my career. On laptops that I bring to work, I only want my business-related notebooks to replicate. After installing Evernote on a new computer, is there a way to tell it what notebooks I would want on that computer? Thanks!

Concur. It would be nice to have the ability to "resize" multiple images simultaneously as The big Discovery has suggested.

Hi All, You may have noticed that all threads requesting an Evernote integration with Grammarly have been merged into this thread, regardless of platform specificity. This was done in order to better enable us to quantify and qualify user requests, and amplify their voice. While this does not mean this is a feature that will be coming, we certainly want to relay user feedback/sentiment to our various teams. Moving forward, please put all commentary and votes for an Evernote/Grammarly integration here!
