I think I found the problem. In NordVPN preferences there is a feature called CyberSec that blocks ads and malware; I had it checked. Previously it did not interfere with EN, but either something in EN 7.12 changed that caused it to be flagged by CyberSec, or NordVPN changed something in CyberSec that erroneously flagged EN. After unchecking this feature, EN is now able to sync while I'm connected to the VPN. For anyone else using NordVPN that has the same issue, try turning off CyberSec.

I've seen people complaining about Evernote for Windows' speed back in 2017 and 18, but now for some reason it's getting unbearable. I have less than 1000 notes and try to keep as few images and other non-text content to a minimum. I wonder how's the experience of those really heavy users who maintain 10k notes and counting. Evernote is taking long to load when opening the app, long to switch between notes and if you fire up the search... You must have patience. I beg the devs to think about what Evernote was meant for in the first place: to be a NOTE TAKING app, not a full-blown American Congress Library replica. Edit: one thing I suspect is slowing Evernote down is the amount of preloaded fonts for each and every note: As you can see, there is a number of fonts that come with Windows – or not – that will most likely never be used in Evernote. So there could be an option for the user to limit or select just a few good fonts to be available in the never-ending drop-down menu.

How can I insert tables in Evernote for iOS? Is there a work around that would allow me to insert tables? Thanks!

I've been using Evernote for over a month now and love it. Though I found some things wich I would love as features in Evernote! Notebook Stick notes on top of a Notebook for a better visibility Sort notes individualy: freely drag and drop notes in a notebook Insert a register inside a notebook: like in real life I'd love to insert a register in a notebook to better organize my files Features A more versitile Reminder: using recurring reminders; remind when I'm at a specific place; and so on Tag system in Web / Mobile analog to Windows / Mac App: It is kind of irritating, that I can only manage tags on my Pc. I love the hierarchy of tags in the Windows / Mac app and would love to see it on my phone and in the web! Windows / Mac App Editor analog to Web Editor: I love the new functionalities of the beta function in the new Web version and would love to have in on my Windows PC App Less differences in general: It is kind of confusing if you switch from Web version to the PC App. There are better function in web, but in the PC App version there are advantages to. I'd love to see a more balanced system! Thanks for reading. What do you think of those ideas?

I am constantly copying text values from my notes using the Windows Desktop Edition, and in recent times, I believe it has started adding a carriage return to the copied text. This is very frustrating because when you paste the content the Carriage return may or may not be apparent and may or may not affect the result. So you may need to use backspace to delete it, or not. Could we have an option to disable appending the carriage return ? Or alternately, my preference would be simply don't alter the paste buffer at all, and simply copy what is selected. I'm fairly sure this is new behaviour in last few months, because I haven't noticed it over the past few years.

@crawfordpatterson @ObviousBob Thanks for all your support and interest in the Beta Program! We’re very excited to start sharing what we’ve been busy working on this year and to hear your feedback and input. We’re actively in the midst of recruiting for our betas and if you’ve already signed up, please know that you’re in front of the line! We’re on track and we’ll be in touch as we start rolling out more betas. Thanks for your patience!

The paid service you are using has a specific limit on note size. Perhaps picking a paid service that satisfies your needs would be appropriate. Or add your vote to the 22 above and compromise in the meantime and build your own solution.

Post your suggestion in the web clipper feedback forum at https://discussion.evernote.com/forum/256-web-clipper/

There will always be betas of ios, Android, Windows, Mac, etc. they will never be gone. When using beta versions of Evernote, you can already install a beta version alongside a regular version. If one version isn’t working, try the other. If seeking support for a beta version, don’t expect a lot. However, there is a HUGE flaw EN has here: Webclipper is completely destroyed For an OS that is probably releasing in around a month. I am not seeking support but simply asked if there was a beta of a safari plugin. When I heard there wasn’t, I suggested they EN should build web clipping into the actual client so if the plugin breaks in the future, this primary feature of EN is not destroyed. I don’t see why this is such an issue. This is my entire point.

*We* drive on the right side of the road, and you drive on the left side. Right is right, and left is... not so much... 😝

Typo? Or maybe just because we drive on the right side of the road. Rest of the world? Not so much...
  13. 1 point
I thought that went the other way, i.e., '<>'. At least you find that in Pascal, Basic, and probably others. '><' is kinda like driving on the wrong side of the road... 😆

To Dave-in-Decatur and CalS, The blog posts are intended to be an objective description of my experience, so that others can decide for themselves whether the effort is worth it to them - and perhaps avoid a few pitfalls. And to give people a little real world data to estimate the effort required - something I couldn't find online when I started this. It was never intended as a sell job for OneNote. For me, Dark Mode is a deal breaker. And I assume it's pretty important to anyone else reading this thread. I have concluded that Dark Mode on Windows is unlikely to appear anytime soon - in particular, before my hacked Evernote executable stops working. I could be wrong. But, like I said, it's a deal breaker for me. I cannot use a retina-burn-white background, and I decided to get it over with while my hacked version is still working and I had some free time to work on it. And, so far, I'm quite happy with OneNote. It feels comfortable already. And I can use my SPro and pen as a tablet - even record voice sync'ed to the content. It has replaced Livescribe for me. For me, it was worth the time I invested. Others may make different tradeoffs. The blog posts were intended to help people make that tradeoff. Paul Zimmer

I never thought of that...and now trying to think how i might use it. I think the easiest way would be to open the note in EN Web interface, make sure the note is full screen, then use a Chrome extension like Fireshot, my favorite, to capture entire page

Problem solved. This worked perfectly! Thanks so much for the tip about the website version rather than the app store version too.

@Ian Small, thanks for another great video. Structuring the Beta version to run separately, side-by-side, is huge for me. This will enable me to actively participate in the Beta Program.

My understanding is that Evernote for Mac automatically indexes your notes in Apple Spotlight, unless you specifically disallow its Library. So, you simply need to title your note uniquely (e.g., make your note title something like ### Note Title) and then search Spotlight by the keyboard shortcut (⌘ space on my system) and then typing the first few characters of the unique note title.

Following up on @DTLow's comment, you can directly access shortcuts using CMD-(number), e.g. CMD-1 will open the first shortcut, CMD-2 will open the second, etc. If you make your table-of-contents note your first one, you'll always be able to jump to that using CMD-1. Hope this helps! -- Tom

Really no response from Evernote? This is an old request from people who prefer working on iPad and mobiles. Please consider us! ☹️

It's eminently feasible to keep notes in Evernote and store attachments that don't fit elsewhere, with a link from the note to the attachment. Bear in mind that in any installation where the notes database is downloaded to local storage - ie desktops - an attachment that is part of a note just adds to the size of the database and takes up more disk space. I have a Google Drive folder called "Evernote attachments" which is where my large files go...

In your EN Mac app, See Evernote > Preferences > Clipping to set the default viewing for attachments.

Hi. The only 'response' I'd expect would be for the apps for Android and iOS to be updated with that facility added. Evernote (like most software companies) don't usually comment on when or whether they'll be issuing new features.

For crying out loud, Evernote COME ON!!! This is still happening in OSX 10.10 and 10.11 with version 6.12.3 of the app.
