For example if I want move up a note towards the top of the notebook stack manually. Is this possible?

Evernote used to automatically create a telephone hyperlink for any phone number that I put into a note and opened it on my iPhone. It appears to have stopped working? Does anyone know how to get it working automatically again?

I feel on the biggest missing features is native support for Markdown. Please add native Markdown to Evernote.
  4. 1 point
It currently isn't possible and it'll make our use of Evernote a lot more efficient.

I already have some of them in my notes (the ones I wanted to keep). Will try deleting one or two later and see if those still pop up!

Unbelievable, this simple action did solve my problem! Thanks.

I originally posted on this thread to support additional levels of note sorting [not using tags]. One additional level would be great - two would be fantastic. I like Evernote and have used it for years but have always found this restrictive. I had hoped that over those years Evernote might have effected this change [for people who don't use tags] but the repeated mantra of 'use tags to do it' is, as may on here have commented, becoming somewhat tiresome. I do not wish to tag - I have years of notes that are not tagged - and the way I have ALWAYS worked is to drop something into the relevant 'directory'. It is a shame that even if it did require a major rework Evernote have not sorted this. Quite a number of users seem to feel the same way. The general consensus of the thread seems to be 'Use tags or use a different program better suited to you'. Thanks for that.

Hi All, Thank you for reaching out! We are aware that this issue is occurring, and we are currently working to determine how best to address it. I'll follow-up here one I have more information, but please let me know if you have any other questions in the meantime!

I use export to HTML on my Mac for backups; daily incremental and weekly full The note is generated as an HTML file, with attachments stored in a separate folder (.resources) For a cloud solution, check our cloudHQ

More specifically, export to HTML is available in the Evernote for Windows application. Not sure about Evernote for Mac. It's not available in the Android or iOS mobile Evernote applications, or in the web application.

I have over 10k notes, most of them PDF. My pc freezed a lot. Often for thirty seconds or more and then again after a few seconds again. It happenend already by just selecting another note. For me the problem is solved by deleting all the contents of the attachment directory! The program is now faster as I haven't seen for over a year!

So Evernote finally decided to respond to continual user requests to upgrade the crappy editor. Dropbox Paper must have been hurting the bottom line. I was a paid user from day one, but cancelled my sub a couple of years ago because of this issue; Dropbox Paper and Bear Notes filled the gap beautifully. This coming upgrade has prompted me to renew the subscription. Now when do we get Markdown? :)

Hmmm, ok. Let's break this down a little (and I think that this follows your screen caps): Opened up my @Todo notebook Tapped on the search icon at the top right Typed 'dowsing'. That doesn't appear in any note titles, and no matches were found Tapped on the search icon on the popup keyboard, and the note that contains the word 'dowsing' was shown So evidently the search-as-you-type results shown are based on in-title matches, but if you then press the search icon, it returns notes that contain that text. Yeah, I find that confusing, particularly since results are presented without giving any context.

I tried this with the 8.11 version. Searched on "dowsing", which, in the desktop appears in only one note, and no titles. In Android, that note was found. So it seems to be working ok here; not sure what the difference would be.

Hey everyone, Looks like for most this issue has been solved but even w the latest app and iOS updates it wasn’t for me, either on my iPad 11 or iPhone 8. What I found to be the culprit was the Siri option in Control Center app settings. Not sure why, but once I turned off “Siri and Search” >”Siri and Suggestions” options for Evernote I no longer have the hanging problem on either device (after app close and restart). Was a super-frustrating issue and nothing else was working, so hopefully for those who may still have the problem this will help.

Hi All, You may have noticed that all threads requesting Markdown support have been merged into this thread, regardless of platform specificity. This was done in order to better enable us to quantify and qualify user requests, and amplify their voice. While this does not mean this is a feature that will be coming, we certainly want to relay user feedback/sentiment to our various teams. Moving forward, please put all commentary and votes for Markdown support here!

The fact that it's not a universal issue is irrelevant - it's a consistent issue that is well documented and has affected many users for the past 19 months. Here's some conclusions we can draw from evidence: There was a version of Evernote in which this was not an issue. Now it is. This suggests this is a problem with the client, and not people's hardware. There is a current workaround that severs Evernote's connection to the internet, and many people in the thread I linked in my above post have reported that this solves the slowdown issue, once again suggesting this is a problem with the client. I can consistently edit and render large files on Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects on my computer, both of which should be more intensive actions than opening a note in Evernote, yet the former causes no lag or slowdown, and the latter does. Just how much juice does a notetaking app need? The slowdown issues are not present on the Mac client, so unless they are vastly different software for some reason, it seems this is a bug in the Windows client of Evernote in particular. All of the above is why I describe anyone's attempts at trying to scapegoat an affected person's machine in respect to this issue as a "con." The fact that EN is constantly full of bugs and every new update seems to bring new ones also leads me to have little faith that this is anything but a client issue. As for why I posted it in multiple threads, the fact that it's been 19 months and there's not even been a peep from Evernote staff about the issue is disgraceful. Several people have reported that EN has been rendered unusable to them because of this issue, yet the priority seems to fall to frivolous things like emoji support. My posting in multiple threads is simply to draw attention to this issue, and EN's lack of response. It helps the community at large because it draws attention to the problem, and if it is ignored, it draws attention to how EN chooses to handle user concerns. People can draw their own conclusions after that, but I frankly expect more from a service I pay for. Your comment, on the other hand, seems to be trying to detract me from mentioning an issue that has affected many users, and keeping quiet about bugs not only doesn't help the community at large, it negatively affects it. Yes, you are fortunate that it doesn't affect you, but just because you aren't affected doesn't change the fact that many users are.

Totally agree with others. Very frustrated with this feature change! I don't understand why Evernote would reduce features, rather than add...?
  19. 1 point
Please bring this feature back. It is almost impossible to navigate through a large collection of notebooks with the single-column view.
  20. 1 point
Another vote from me to bring back the grid view - this long scrolling single column is very frustrating, far less elegant and not as efficient. If developers have to constantly iterate the UI, please give us the option to change the view to how we've become accustomed. I use Evernote constantly all day and its consistency is key to its ease of use. I don't want to have to relearn a UI just because a developer has become bored with what works.

The grid view allows a much better overview of all the stacks and notebooks, please bring it back! Scrolling does just the opposite...takes more time and removes the possibility of having an overview...a strange move for a productivity software...

Thanks for the responses guys. Please bring back the grid/multicolumn feature of v6.11. It was very useful to quickly see all the notebooks in one shot/view. Having this list view "feature" is unfortunately not as useful :-/ If requests are really high for a list view "feature", maybe it could be added on as an view option, depending on how difficult it is to implement...

Yeah, I'm reaching the point where I might abandon Evernote in favor of something that DOES support markdown.
