Six years ago I gave them a 5 star review. Since then, I've updated the review each year. Any year that included one or more long-standing, reported and well-documented bugs, I deducted a star from my review, and wrote about the problem in the review. I am now at 1 star, been there since last year. What's worse: at least 1/3 of these bugs are regressions -- by which I man a bug that occurred in a feature that as working fine in the previous version, a bug that could have been solved by simply rolling back the change(s) in the relevant code section(s) so that the feature resumes working ag2 points

Most will tell you not to install apps from third party sites, as they may contain malware. Evernote should make a downgrade (or an upgrade with the old code) available. There really is not excuse for this. Evernote made a video where they talked about customer focus. Letting this issue continue for so long without any resolution is very anti-customer.2 points

Hi, I don't know when it started, but at some point Evernote started tagging my clips automatically based on the text in the content being clipped. I searched the forums and found how to turn this "feature" off so it wont' do it anymore, but now I'm stuck with HUNDREDS of one-word tags cluttering my tags list and would like to get rid of them. To solve the problem, I click on the icon for TAGS in the left sidebar, which brought up the whole list of tags. I then did a CTRL-A (on a PC) to select all of the tags I held down the CTRL key and clicked to de-select any tags I1 point

Currently Evernote allows an upload of an Apple Voice Memo from the share button in the Voice Memos app. However, Evernote does not currently allow an upload of an Apple Voice Memo from within the Evernote app. Furthermore, it's possible to upload a single Voice Memo, but if I wanted to upload another, related recording from Voice Memo, I'd have to upload it to another note in Evernote. While this isn't a serious problem, it would be nice to be able to add related recordings to the same note for better organization, similar to how one can upload multiple photos to the same note.1 point

We try to avoid this style upgrade - as I noted, we re-release Beta3. So MSI sees this new version as the same version as the old Beta3 - this is the same-version upgrade path. It's not very user friendly, so we try to avoid ever doing this publicly. However, the old Beta3 has a newer version of CEF - so any upgrade from that would cause "very bad things" to happen (because we would be violating MSI component rules). We made a conscious decision to inflict that same-version upgrade so the CEF dll downgrade would properly install. Probably as clear as mud now. tl;dr: Installers are ha1 point

When I want to find a note, I begin typing, and if something shows up below the "Refine Your Search" bar such as a tag I've used or the title of a note, I can get to that and it works well. But just plain old typing in the search bar, which I guess is a "full text search" or "search all text", that doesn't work. I get the dreaded "recycle" circle arrow. ----- I tried using Evernote in Firefox on my Android phone. Apparently Evernote blocks that. Why? ----- Searches that worked, and full text search failed1 point

OK thanks, Shane. Just want to reiterate that this is a crucial function/use case in terms of the web version even being usable.1 point

I will avoid the sarcasm that rushes to mind, and simply try to speak directly. Andreas, this is your usual unfriendly and unhelpful contribution here. What would happen if someone would flag your post as a violation of the forum's terms of conduct, which it certainly is? Would you flame them as well? The search issue is certainly a terrible problem. For myself, I've been updating EN Android regularly and not encountering any problems. But I'm trying to avoid this one until they get it fixed. I don't know why they haven't fixed it yet; I too think it is getting ridiculous; and I too am di1 point

To search for all notes containing tags under a parent tag go to Tools - Options - Navigation and select Automatically select child tags. This creates an Any search for these tags. In general a search for tag:sauce should only return notes tagged with sauce, a search for tag:sauce* should return any notes with tags beginning with sauce. Works that way for me anyway.1 point

I'd like to posit another direction regarding code block - that not all who use code are programmers! I run a website, and as a solo-preneur, that means I need to find ways to code myself sometimes. I use Evernote for everything related to my business - I blog/write in Evernote, I keep track of business receipts, I log all my marketing in Evernote. What I'd also like to do is keep track of snippets of code that I write for website themes, plugins, widgets, and CSS. The "wider audience" might not be the programmers - it might be the thousands and thousands of women like me wh1 point

How can Evernote not fix this hours after it's discovered? This sort of problem is so fundamental, they should do a code rollback to the previous version. In the meantime they're releasing dark mode improvements?! Evernote: why?!1 point

Whatever you select for those two settings become the defaults, for any default text in notes in any case. Check -- I meant the "factory defaults," i.e., what the program initially sets as defaults. Sorry for the confusion.1 point

I did it for almost 3 years at another company. Driver installs too. (Funny thing, headhunter contacted me, my skills were a perfect match - for installers. Nope! Once was enough!)1 point

Just reset the size on the original text and you will get the same result. If you look at the ENML a font size parameter gets added, <font style="font-size: 10pt;">. Don't know what the plumbing is, but it would appear that EN left to its own devices has two different sizes, 10 isn't quite 10. I've seen the same sort of stuff when dragging default text from one note to another, values get added which then causes display size on IOS to vary for what one would think was the same parameters, ie, default. Saw this with my workout notes, the font was smaller on my phone after dnd wh1 point

Downgrading brings back memories....what I remember from 2+ years ago is, downgrading won't destroy or prevent access to existing large notes, but it will prevent you from creating new ones over the size limit. It may let you edit, but it presumably won't let you save if the edited note is too large. So far, reasonable...but the limit can cause some very subtle problems! For example, if you cut a large embedded object from a note, get distracted by a notification or something, then paste it in a different part of the note...and the note auto-saves in between the cut and the paste, it might1 point

Come on please, I've been waiting for months for Evernote to fix this. It's downright annoying.1 point

Same here. But c'mon, it's been just 11 months, how would Evernote respond to anything that quickly? -.-1 point

I'm also having this issue on Firefox. I pay for premium. Please fix it. Thanks1 point

I have been directed to move here (from the long thread about a feature request for a proper folders/notebooks/sections hierarchy) my request for someone to explain how to use the tag hierarchy to implement/simulate a nested hierarchy of folders, notebooks, sections, subsections, etc. It is common in that thread for people to just says "tags can do this", but no-one seems to be able to offer an explanation of how to do it. I am not necessarily asking people to put in time to explain it themselves - just point me to the instructions that explain how to do this.1 point

Hi, @jerlenaz, and welcome to the forums. (Love your avatar, BTW!) The trick (and it is a bit of a trick) is that right after you select "Add to Evernote" from the "Share with" dialog, you have to tap on the Evernote icon (the elephant) while the "wheel" is spinning around. That should pop up options for notebook, tags, and whether or not to clip the full article. The next time you share, it should use the same choices you select here.1 point

I feel on the biggest missing features is native support for Markdown. Please add native Markdown to Evernote.1 point
