Because more power requires more electricity. That means power plants run more. That increases emissions. That create a greenhouse effect. Then Antarctica melts. Then baby penguins die. WHY DO YOU HATE THE BABY PENGUINS? 🐧

I don't but polar bears scare the bejeebers out of me, and baby penguins too, I expect. Nice emoji, btw...

I think Evernote is a fantastic product, especially with the iPhone integration. I currently use a program called UltraRecall because of it's heavy use of subfolders. This makes organizing my data very logical. I was wondering if Evernotes has a way to create subnotebooks under existing notebooks to help group numerious notebooks together? Example Notebooks: Work Clients Customer1 Customer2 Customer3 Customer4 Personal Electronics Web Clips

REQUEST – It would be amazing to have a feature where an image can be selected, and when you right-click (ie, the same way you rotate it, etc.) there could also be an option to override the "largest smallest-dimension" algorithm and set that image as the note's thumbnail. A little background –– One thing I use EN for very heavily is as an artist database for my job. I really like having both a photo of the artist and an example of their artwork at the top of their card. However, when I'm scrolling through snippet or card view, it would be really helpful to have the image of their artwork always be the one to show up. This usually happens but there are a few times where the photo of the artist is used instead. I've read up on the algorithm that chooses the image with the "largest smallest-dimension" (PS, see what I did there with the hyphen? Way clearer that way.) and I am actually OCD enough to try to amend the file sizes to have the algorithm pick the right one. However, even this doesn't seem to work – it's probably me because I guess an algorithm can't lie, but even when I resize the images, it's still not choosing the right one. So my question is – why would that be happening? Could it be that once EN's algorithm chooses an image, it always chooses that filename even when the size changes? But what would be SO MUCH EASIER is my *request* – could there be an override option to the largest smallest-dimension algorithm (which I agree does work at least half of the time for me) to choose a thumbnail? I'm not talking some fancy thing in the settings where you tell EN how to pick your thumbnails – that sounds like way more work than it's worth. I just imagine, like I've said above, having the image you want to be the thumbnail highlighted/selected, then right click (in the same way that you can rotate an image, etc.) and have something like "set as note thumbnail." Please?? Thank you!

Does anyone here experience the same problem? for about a month now, new PDFs scanned to Evernote don't have a preview anymore in iOS. In Windows and OSX preview works fine and even for older PDFs, the preview in iOS is working. Only new stuff no longer has a preview and only in iOS. Has anyone noticed the same?

Whining and paranoia....I joined just to point that out. You berate a user simply because he or she likes the app? How very strange. Evernote is hands down the very best app of its kind...nothing comes close and no one could convince me otherwise. In my experience not only is the product outstanding but the development and response to issues are too, especially for the price! It's funny how so many people complain but then worry about the future of Evernote. So instead of whining and name calling and accusing why not try to be constructive or be quiet. Thank you, that is all.

You can hold the Shift key and drag the file into EN.

In part to approximate how my netbook runs EN slowly (3-5 seconds sometimes), though I do use power saver to darken the screen when taking a break. The processing thing was just guessing, I only know previously EN could run fast on a slow machine. Nope, I am aware that can add extra time.

More a Win10 issue, but yeah emoji issues!

Really? Emoji issues? this will be fixed by next build, but On Demand Sync Merging of Notes with data loss, massive whitespace in tag view, lack of search progress status for On Demand Sync configs, will remain broken for years to come.

@jyl Maybe let Ian be CEO for more than 5 minutes before calling for his head on a pike?

I echo the sentiments expressed here -- I also preferred having Reminders visible on startup. I use reminders to keep "priority" notes at the top of the stack, ordered by date due. Now they are not visible at all, unless I go seek them out. I note that Reminders are still at the top of the note stack in the PC and web versions. I would prefer that Reminders go back to where they were in the previous Mac version; or at least make it a preference option.

This has been a problem with Evernote ever since early September, when I called it to the attention of Evernote support. For a while, a workaround was to create a duplicate copy of the note and then delete the original note. A pdf preview appeared for the duplicate, but this workaround no longer works unfortunately. I am really unhappy with the direction Evernote seems to be going. There seems to be a loss of focus on the core functions of the app that made it great for many years. Let's hope they turn this around soon.

I'll second that! Please update the thumbnail previews and also allow card view with PDF previews on all versions of Evernote (iOS, Mac, Web, etc.)! I typically bulk scan all documents into Evernote and then simply search for keywords when something is needed, seeing that the system OCRs the text within PDFs for me. Being able to search for text within PDFs and then have visual card previews of the PDFs pop up, plus have the searched text highlighted when a card is chosen, is INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT! Please keep PDF preview thumbnails on all devices, Card View and Expanded Card View on all devices, the ability to OCR and search within all PDFs, and also to see the searched text locations highlighted within chosen documents. For me these are the most important elements of Evernote and if feels like they are slowly being taken away. This is what makes the service great and separates it from Dropbox and all other cloud storage options. Taking away the visual card view elements, the backend-OCR function, or the full-text search with highlighted search terms, would be a HUGE mistake. It seems like the newest Beta Web version (which typically becomes the future aesthetic) is trying to take all image previews out of Evernote and remove the Card View altogether... let's stop that and instead KEEP EVERNOTE VISUAL! The service should feel like a board of pinned images, not like some old boring email client with an endless list of text and dated fonts.

Overall I think people want more customization to their Evernote and want to make it look the way that works for them. Different size fonts, different layouts for ShortCuts, or note views, more color options etc. I am all for it as well. I use it all day long and it is the app that I spent the most hours according to RescueTime everyday. Thus, I want it to feel, look the way I like it. Of course, with a lot of customization options, comes a lot of problems for the developers and for the users. I would trust the Evernote team to walk that fine line nicely.
