  1. I hate to once again sound like the ungrateful curmudgeon, but a quick scan of this 7 month old thread with dozens of users experiencing this debilitating bug and the first participation by an Evernote employee is after the problem is solved? I assumed that nobody from Evernote read these forums. It's even more annoying to know that they do and still nobody addressed this. Again, I'm glad the problem is solved but I'm an IT consultant who's spent years recommending this product to hundreds of my clients and all my positive experience was completely undone by the failure to address this g

  2. We do read the forums, but we usually aren't the ones with direct control or knowledge of when/how bugs will be fixed. Mostly, we try and take what users on the forum are saying and get it seen by people in the company who can affect change, help when we can, and bridge gaps between the forums and our customer support teams. We usually have nothing to offer other than "We hear you, we're working on it" and often even that message doesn't get out (something we are trying to change). Evernote employees posting here are largely volunteering their own limited time to try and help out, they aren't

  4. I want to put in a plug here for the EverTool App. I'm not the developer, just a happy new user. It's a Windows 10 and Mac app that takes the text on your clipboard and formats it. So you can cut text out of Evernote, open up EverTool, select a predefined format, and then paste it back in. Voila! User-defined styles. Here's the forum posting that pointed me to it. So what's so cool about it? First, it's a nice, convenient way to get user-defined styles in Evernote. Second, one of the options for a style is "Parse Markdown". So you can write your note in Markdown, cut i

  6. Thanks for the tip. I kept seeing suggestions online about updating "your app" but it's been such a long time since I had to manually check for updates on a Windows program that I was mentally stalling out about how one does it. Your simple graphic, even though it didn't show the process, jogged me into remembering it. I'll put it here for anyone else who finds this message later and doesn't know / remember how: #----- Have your Evernote for Windows program (app) up on the monitor screen. Along the top of the window, you'll see the familiar windows option words: File ... Edit ... V

  7. This can happen when Windows thinks a file has been modified (or deleted) from what was originally installed. MSI automatically attempts to fix it. But fails.

  8. Hi, at this moment there are not other apps like Evernote. Bear is very closed to Evernote, but not for windows. Also apple note, but without tags and export possibilty. There are years since I try to go away from Evernote becouse I think is too arogance with costumers. Evernote don't hear the voice of costumers!!! Evernote is the best example of how a costumers service don't must be . Evernote don't care about his costumers. I'm still waiting for Evernote alternative: Trello, notion, simply notes ecc. are not Evernote's alternative. Good apps , but there have not the Evernote f

  9. Just tried it with an "all" search. Looks like the search loads correctly, but if I try to change to "any", it instead displays all notes. This seems to happen only if there are multiple search terms. For example, a saved search which looks for just one tag is unaffected (probably because an "any" search is the same as an "all" search if there is only one term). Again, all of this is better than how it was before - the saved searches upon load do what they were designed to do.

  10. I'm not 100% sure, but it looks like this bug is fixed in Evernote for Windows, at least as of beta version 6.14.1.7551. When I load a saved search that has the "any" term, it comes up as "any". If I click on the any to change it to all, I can't change it. That's not ideal functionality, but it's better than the alternative. At least this way the saved search does what it was intended to do, even if it's a little harder to change from "any" to "all" with the same search terms. I haven't yet tried to save an "all" search to see if it works the same way - when I do, I'll post back her

  11. Hey, Dave-in-Decatur (or I should say GENIUS Dave-in-Decatur, your workaround was successful. I copied and pasted the text in the bad boy note and pasted it into a new note. I was able to open that new note on my Android phone. Thanks very much.

  12. @CalS thanks for the nudge. Yes, there was. Found the offending note and my export is complete. Thanks for the tip. Should've thought to look there at the outset. Again... thanks -- jay

  13. Is there an intention that the new web version will have multi-select capability? This is what is keeping me using the classic version despite it no longer working properly on Chrome. As a linux and android user, the classic web version is the only way I have to get multiple note selection and note merge functionality.

  14. Thank you! Reboot had no effect, so downloaded and re-installed 6.11.2.7027 from your link. All looks good and seems to be working fine. Much appreciated. Do you think it's worth updating to 6.14?

  15. Hey Shane- YES! Thank you for keeping me honest and reminding me and sorry for the delay. End of summer craziness with kids :D. Yes! I have to give credit where credit is due. Evernote took care of this very quickly and was kind enough to refund me. Have to say that not many cloud based providers are willing to do this so easily and I think this reflects well on Evernote. Many thanks! - Bill

  16. Hey @TK0047...yeah I only picked up on this later after posting the video. and I think @Dave-in-Decatur probably nailed the cause. Again this is a small thing (for the moment) but as I find ways to make the most of EN Tables, this issue has proven to be a little time waster/less user friendly, having to go back and manually format cell-by-cell. Agree with Dave re his comment quoted below...and yeah same behaviour if using CTRL+B...cheers

  17. Dear Evernote. Why isn't there an option to copy and work with a note link in the iOS version? Or am I missing something? Please add this functionality! If I can't perform the same tasks on iOS as my Mac, the product isn't as useable. Thanks...

  18. I'm a big fan of this request. Developer IDEs have the concept of a "Closed" Project which removes its reference from search and other places. Projects (in the case of Evernote, Notebooks or Stacks) can be easily closed or reopened. My specific use case is that I have notes and materials from past projects and companies that I want to ignore in my current working context. I have similar notebook naming patterns for different areas of my work and responsibilities and it slows me down to have to select "the right" notebook from the new project.

  19. Hate hate hate this. I have a 27" monitor and have no need for this. Please let this work like the Windows client, where you can choose what sits inside of the ... option and what sits outside in the header. Every single one of these actions now takes an extra click. Ouch!

  21. I also want that feature! Let me choose the default file type when I scan a document (like you can do in scannable on iPhone, that App is also from Evernote, so where is the problem ?) Sure there are workarounds, but they all make it too complicate.

  22. From https://evernote.com/blog/ceo-notebook-evernote-brand/ I hope so. Because it hasn't worked out that way so far in the last 2+ years. Product reliability is not near what it should be. I don't even know where to start with this one. My cursor continues to jump around, the the cursor at the bottom of the note is below my screen, general releases get published with sync errors that were clearly identified in the beta builds, merging notes can still cause data loss - which can be corrected if you notice and retrieve from the trash can, and the UI still freezes way too oft

  24. Hi, I am the developer of EverTool. Thanks for Rob’s great post. This post interprets all the features I want to provide to users. About the Fifth point, I am glad you find this little surprise! Yes, it works globally. Therefore, EverTool can transform the text style in every full-text editor, like Word, Gmail, etc.. Right now, I am working hard to make EverTool easier to use and provide as many features as possible. For example, in the next version you can resize all the images in Evernote to the same width in one click. Windows 7 is always in my plan. I hope I can support

  25. I see this thread began in 2012. Years and years go by and such a basic feature, styled headings, still don't exist in the desktop version of Evernote. I find this astoundingly ridiculous. An application that has "note" in its name doesn't provide customers with a way to style heading which are key to being able to organize content. PLEASE implement this feature!

  26. I just registered to share the one thing that disturbs me in Evernote. The clipping, voice recording and all that stuff is really neat and new, but one basic thing that's missing are templates for Headings. Just like in Microsoft word, but only a handful styles, like e.g. Heading 1, Heading 2, standard. I believe that just a few templates for headings are of great value for anybody using Evernote to write down thoughts about a topic. Personally, everything I write down needs a heading, and doing this by hand every time is annoying and unnecessary for users. Anybody who writes down her thoughts

  28. Onenote is a great tool in it's own way. Just like Evernote, it has it's drawbacks. Advantages: - Free, up to the limits of Onedrive free storage. Not sure what it's stands at now, I think 5 GB ? - Excellent attachment handling. You pretty much can position any attachment anywhere, which makes it great for keeping project notes. - Excellent table function - Full section encryption. - Fantastic editor. Disadvantages: - Once you run out of 5GB free space in your Onedrive, you can't upload any more notes unless you buy more space. For the record, all of my

  29. I think Evernote is great for organization and recall. Tagging is very efficient and not something that OneNote implements in the same way and are not searchable. I think both are great products though. I have about 1000 notes at this point, and I know many on the forums have many more. I'm not sure if I could do the same thing in OneNote without it getting unwieldy. -Alan

  30. OneNote is better at editing (proprietary format). Evernote is better at filing documents/files. I don't need a new editor; I have access to various editors that get the job done. I need a tool to store my +10,000 documents and make it easy to access data as required. The Evernote note can contain files of any format. I use the Evernote editor for basic notes. I use MS-Word/Apple-Pages for word processing, MS-Excel/Apple-Numbers for spreadsheets, PDFs, Images, ... >>I'm not saying to make it free because its an awesome handy app but saying that on the free ve

  33. I think another word for "headings" is "styles". A style is simply a set of formats (font, size, bold, underline, etc) that can be easily applied with one click to a paragraph. Styles are not limited to headings, but can be applied to any paragraph. I would find styles very useful. Often, after a web clip, I find the need to "reset" the entire Note to my standard Note "style" of Verdana, 14 pt. Sometimes in longer notes, I need to set formatting for the title of sections. So, having user-defined styles just one click away would be very helpful.
