Thanks gazumped - that's a good system - but I really like CalS's solution; it's pretty quick and works well. Wish I'd figured it out years ago!

I'm on Basic. When I launch Evernote, it opens to the All Notes page. I'd like to open to Notebooks. Is this possible?

I think Evernote is a fantastic product, especially with the iPhone integration. I currently use a program called UltraRecall because of it's heavy use of subfolders. This makes organizing my data very logical. I was wondering if Evernotes has a way to create subnotebooks under existing notebooks to help group numerious notebooks together? Please let us select the thumbnail picture shown in the note previews. I read the forum and I saw there is an annoying work around, but that's why I'm requesting this feature for real. Something like: • right click the image and select "Use this as Preview image" (I believe this should be the easiest to implement) • right click the note preview and select "Pick a thumbnail" that leads to a small selection of the images available inside that note • right click the image and set a priority that overrides the current priority These are just ideas, but any of those would be amazing so we have decent control over the thumbnail pic!

Is there someway I can control which image is displayed as a thumbnail in the snippet note list view I can't work out what the basis is for which image is shown, its not the first, its not the last, and I don't think its the biggest byte-wise or largest pixel-wise. tia - RP

Hi. You should be able to enter whatever title you'd like... do you see something different from me?

Yeah you have to rename the PDF. My method is to copy the note name, right click and select rename, then paste. FWIW.

I just realized it's finally there! Thanks a lot, Evernote. iPad and iPhone both show the number of words and characters now!

To view the maximum amount of a PDF possible while eliminating all the wasted white space I do the following. 1.) Open the note to a 2nd full-size window. 2.) Click on the "Fit to Page" icon twice. The first click shows the entire PDF page with lots of white space. The 2nd click zooms the page out to eliminate the white space and make the text legible.

Can't comment on a complete fix, but earlier this week, I received the following comment about a lag I was having with PDF viewing from Evernote Support. "We're currently aware of this issue and working on a fix that is scheduled to be included in the next release (version 6.11). Evernote for Windows Desktop version 6.11 is scheduled to be released within the next 1-2 weeks." They suggested I try the latest Beta version, but I have found Beta testing to be too risky, So I will sit on the sidelines and wait for the GA version. Then I will wait a couple more weeks while I read the comments once the GA version.

I am experiencing this in the 6.11 Beta as well. Clicking the button only shows a large see-through border. It could be fixed by moving the shortcut-bar to one of the two other places and moving it back.

Hi guys, I opened an support ticket to them and they answered me. The answer was that they know that the problem is ocurring with Chrome and Firefox, and the development team are working to solve it, but they said that don't know how long it will take to solve. The only options now are use the Safari browser or Evernote apps. So, basically there is no fix, we have to wait

Fix confirmed. Starting search with intitle: or created: does not pause and create a note with the beginnings of the search value. Thanks for that.

Could you give some details on the LectureNote features you're using. I agree the Evernote handwriting/sketching features are limited, but I'm not sure what more you need. My ideas are OCR for transcribing to typed notes free form canvas for typing, sketching and handwriting, images colour selection

I have just ran afoul of this issue. I have a previously encrypted file that I must have available on my mobile device. I updated and reformatted it today and love the new table look. However, I am NOT a fan of not being able to encrypt it! I tried all the tips in the above thread but none of them work for me. The data copies in as a really messed up column of text when I copy into the encrypted portion and if I copy it outside of the "box" then it doesn't encrypt. I did try the option of encrypting the Excel file and I'm fine with the extra step when I'm on my desktop. However, it doesn't help me when I'm mobile. And I am mobile often. Any ideas on when the encrypt feature will come back to tables?

I am not a fan of the new PDF viewer at all. I hope the option to choose the old style will be available in the near future. This is one of the reason why I have 6.7 on my work computer. The new viewer does not feel part of the note either with the new window within a note.

The worst thing is it doesn't show the whole document any more. You have a scroll window in a scroll window. Bad UI.

On my PC, I can hover the mouse pointer right over the little arrow or triangle that collapses and uncollapses the notebooks list or tags list and get a count to pop up. I don't actually have to click it. But I do have to be very precise about getting the mouse exactly over the arrow, not over anything else in that header. If this is not working for you, I'd suggest exiting Evernote entirely (use the File menu, then Exit; the red X-box only closes the interface). Then restart it. That often cleans up flaky program behavior.

Also totally agree with the previous posts. I also have an Ipad pro and use it extensively. I'm forced to PDF expert to do annotations on my PDF's. So.... +1 for better PDF annotations/mark ups within Evernote +1 for copying PDF form note to note Another useful feature would be to be able to select the size of the eraser like you have with the pencil and the marker

This is a huge issue for me as well. The handwriting experience in Evernote is awful with the iPad Pro and pencil. Evernote hasn't been designed with annotation in mind. The fragmentation of their product line makes things very messy as well. The complaints regarding annotation have been here on the forum for months and I've complained to support myself to only be told that "it is being worked" but they were unable to give any sort of estimates. I will say that Evernote has at least acknowledged the issue but at this point there should be some real improvements.

I also wish to have the option to have my opening screen display the notebooks list. I have hundreds of notes, organized into about a dozen notebooks. And yet when I open Evernote, it's like a disorganized file cabinet with papers strewn everywhere rather than sorted in my carefully made, tidy folders. I was astonished to see that someone wrote that 'the notebook list is a click away.' A basic tenet of usability is 'don't make me think' and its parallel is "don't make me click.' Besides opening to a mess rather than order, there's a privacy issue, mentioned in a previous post. I may have sensitive information in a recent note that I don't want someone to see when I open the app. Please allow users to customize this! A related matter... once I get the notebook list, I prefer not to see a set of recently used notebooks at the top of the list. This all too often requires more scrolling to get to the notebook I truly want at that moment. I would like to have the option to turn that feature off for a smoother user experience.

Hi everyone, I am a premium user and I used to be able to annotate my PDFs. This feature seems to have been removed from all my devices running with Windows 10. I can read them but I can no longer edit or annotate them directly in my notes. Reinstalling and/or updating evernote as well as loging off/on do not solve the issue. I used to be able to annotate on at least 1 device. When I logged off and back on, I could no longer do it. I did not find any option or feature related to this situation in Evernote. How can I solve this situation? Thank you
