  1. Quentier is a cross-platform (Linux/Windows/Mac) note taking app capable of working as Evernote client. It can also be used for local note taking, without the necessity to even have the Evernote account. Quentier supports such features as: Synchronization of user data (notebooks, notes, tags, saved searches) with Evernote Evernote search syntax can be used for data searching within the local storage Printing of notes and converting them to pdf files Ability to open several notes simultaneously in either tabbed or windowed interface Ability to switch between

  2. I love Evernote, but it's preventing me from putting in sensitive content. For example, I can't keep a personal journal notebook, because other people (i.e. girlfriend, family members, etc.) could one day be looking at those notes, especially since they know that I use Evernote often for many purposes. Evernote already has the ability to encrypt single notes. This is useful for things like storing passwords or other temporary sensitive content. But it's not practical to encrypt many notes one by one. I wish I could password-protect a whole notebook. This way, I can do a

  3. Greetings. I normally use evernote on my android phone. It would be really useful to be able to insert the current date and timestamp by touching a button. It would be a good feature to be able to select default format in evernote settings, and just insert date and/or time stamp by demand (hopefully not both at the same time, one button for each). This feature should also be included in a new note using the widget (this interface for a new note is really poor, I use it to type a fast note but I usually need to write the current date or time stamp). I hope you include this feature.

  5. I regret to have downloaded the new version of evernote, as now my notebooks are all organized in a list. This does not give a good overview - one has to scroll down + it is an extremely boring layout. The old book form (the little squares) where better in both aspects (going from left to right, it was possible to see many more notebooks on the screen.) My request is to allow users to choose for themselves if they want list or books (just add an icon next to "your list" => sort by => books (instead of only number of notes, etc., names etc.) , and why in addition (later, afte

  6. After spending substantial time creating a custom paper and trying to make the lines darker, I was told by EN tech support that custom papers are always grayed out. This is incredibly annoying, and there's no good reason for it. Maybe back in the day when you wanted to drive business to the paper store, but now there's just no excuse for this. I can't believe this is a difficult thing to fix. PLEASE let your users make custom papers that look as nice as your generic templates.

  7. I had written up a draft for a forums post in Evernote on my Mac. I thought I would work on it on the train today on my iPhone. It turned out to be unbearable to do in iOS! It was taking forever simply to correctly select the text I wanted, or to move the insert point around. After about 20 minutes I gave up, selected all the text, copied it and pasted it into the default iOS 9 Notes app. In Notes, all the selecting and editing problems went away. It works fine there! So I know it must be possible. I realized then that Evernote is simply awful for note taking and editing in

  8. All, As I mentioned earlier, when I first noticed the problem, I "updated" Evernote to the latest version. This appeared to "uninstall" old versions then install the latest. However, that did not resolve the problem. Over the weekend I manually uninstalled Evernote, backed up/deleted my local database files, then reinstalled Evernote and sync'd. This has solved my problem. I can see all my notebooks again! Thanks again to all who tried to help. Rulison

  9. This feature is still a reach for me, in terms of general utility. In terms of workarounds, if you don't have a huge number of synonym clusters (e.g. "Ibutamoren/MK677/159752-10-0"), then you could possibly use saved searches. What synonyms actually express, under the hood, though, is really an OR search. In this case, you're saying a search for notes with tag "MK677" should return all notes that have any of the tags "MK677", Ibutaamoren" or "159752" (we'll ignore the fact that a tag with dash characters in it like "159752-10-0" can be problematic in Evernote). That search would be expres

  11. Please try this on multiple browsers! I cannot stress enough that multiple browser capability is essential. Most of our issues stem from using the same browser to do everything. When a browser updates, YOU are the regression tester. If something that was working before doesn't work after a browser update, it is more likely the fault of the browser. Try the same steps in a different browser. If it works then, make sure you report the bug in the incumbent browser as well as notify Evernote of the issue. I have two browsers installed on my Google Pixel 2 XL and a half-dozen browsers in

  12. Hi, I want to find out if a web page has been saved in evernote or not? I used clearly but the related searches does not come up in the first click. It usually takes multiple clicks to list the related searches. My Use case is as follows All my bookmarks are stored in pinboard. I highlight the text and then save the entire article in evernote. Now when I open the webpage at a later time, I want to see the highlights. Currently I click on clearly to see if that page comes up in related searches or not. Is there a way to directly open the saved web page in evernote? Thanks, Ajay

  14. Agreed they're not synonyms in my usage, but why couldn't you keep a note containing all your brand / chemical / CAS names as a comma separated list and just copy/ paste the relevant items into the tag field as "<brand>,<chemical>,<CAS>,"? - The note would act as a look up index on any of those terms. You would grow your tag cloud, but the limit on tags is 100,000 per account, so you have some leeway...

  18. In Android, when I open Evernote, it always opens to an alphabetical list of ALL NOTES, which seems useless to me. I'd like it to open to a list of my NOTEBOOKS. It's annoying that I must click the hamburger menu, then select Notebooks in order to see them. I can't find any way in settings to change the default/opening view. I've used Evernote for many many years, and it seems that this was once possible. Is there any way that this is possible? If not, I would request that Evernote make this change. Seems pretty basic to me.

  19. I just fired up Evernote after almost 2 years of inactivity. I just got a Samsung Tablet S3 and I love the pen. I would consider upgrading to Premium if Evernote supported the s-pen using the Samsung Android SDK. This would reduce the lag greatly and probably offer more features. http://developer.samsung.com/galaxy/pen

  20. Is anyone else having trouble with the note editor using the new version? Editing plain text with simplified formatting is excruciating -- after each keypress is about 750 milliseconds of dead time before a response. I don't see any posts about this -- is it just me?

  22. I love the integration now between Google and Evernote. I would love to see similar integration with iCloud and/or the macOS Apps Calendar and Reminders. The idea is simple enough (though I know execution is far more difficult ): If I create a checklist in a note, it can sync to the Reminders app, a due date would appear in Calendar, and a meeting in Calendar would allow for a meeting note to be made in Evernote.

  23. Pdfs in Evernote (on Mac and iOS) are pain in the … . I heaviliy wish that it gets improved. „Skitch-Engine“ is outdated. I currently use PDF Expert for annotations. But the drawback is, that I have to send my files back to Evernote – which is also quite time consuming/annoying as there‘s no way to send it back to the same (originating) note. The pencil is a great tool/device for annotaions. Hopefully Evernote will get it done in the very near future.

  24. I've been an Evernote devotee for 4 years and this is the first time I've ever posted to any of these forums. I had to though - this change was soooooooooooo disappointing! Ugh! The visual aspect of this app was a BIG part of what made it so special. Hate the list view. Will continue to use it, but will not be singing praises about Evernote to my friends any longer. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE restore the graphic notebook view.

  25. OMG yes, please bring Notebook layout back! I spent 20 minutes looking for the preference setting that would allow me to get out of this eye-numbing list view and back to notebooks. I'm here looking for clues as to how to do it and am disappointed to see that its not an option. Please bring it back. I am with everyone else in this thread - that view worked so well. I'm not usually one to fuss over inevitable changes, but this one has been quite disappointing.

  26. This lack of grid view has completely thrown off the way I interact with Evernote. Please bring back, I am a paid user, and I make no threats of leaving as Evernote is my life, I am trying to just appeal to your desire to provide the product your customers need. Thanks.

  27. [Cross posted from Help Forum] I want to echo the sentiment in this post. I initially thought this was a new "default" setting not a removal of a feature. This is a very poor user experience move. Had you warned me that you would be removing what was a key branding element of this product, I would not have upgraded. As it stands, I will reconsider other options for me and my team. May I recommend that in the future, you perform beta testing / customer validation of such a major change before you launch.

  28. Not only would it be nice to be able to merge notes on the iOS, but be able to select which note you want to retain the primary title of the notes selected (i.e. - which note you want to be first). For some reason when I do it on the mac it isn't necessarily the first note I select which would be logical.
