  1. Mike, this is not beta behaviour - it has been around for years. I have always thought of it as a design bug. When I worked at Realm, the mobile database company, I used this behaviour in Evernote as the counter-example - we don't want to force people's apps to behave like Evernote. If anyone's interested, I was on the Xamarin SDK team, implementing the C# SDK to the common database engine. This kind of behaviour is something you have to do a fair bit of work to avoid, it's not a result of someone being sloppy. Consider that lists in Evernote are live in that, whether you have a Note

  2. EDIT: FIXED WITH WORK-AROUND. In the interest of cutting to the chase and helping any google-searchers to find the solution many of us are using, I'm posting that work-around here at the top of the thread. To see my original problem and post, read below. The problem of regular freeze-ups while typing, inserting, or modifying notes via the windows client (which seems to present to users with very large databases) is somehow related to the client using the network in the background. The solution is to create a windows firewall rule blocking evernote.exe while you are using ever

  3. I noticed it number of times, whenever I select a text for highlighting or for formatting the text automatically becomes bigger. The text size is changed automatically. Is it a bug in Evernote Windows ? Please someone tell any solutions because its really troubling me while making notes.

  4. Recently updated to 6.12 of Evernote for Mac and now it crashes every single time I quit the application. After quitting there is a flash of an enlarged waiting for sink dialogue and then crash. I've tried reinstalling the application, uninstalling and reinstalling the application, no love. Any and all help would be appreciated. I am kind of a Mac geek but feel free to remind me of some basic things that I might have thought past.

  5. Since I couldn't find any documentation of a new Evernote install downloading NOTHING (documentation was all about update syncing problems), and I had just downloaded Evernote and nothing had happened on it, this is not what I would expect would fix the problem, but it turned out to be what did the trick. I moved the Evernote app and the Evernote folder in Library->Application Support to the trash, restarted my computer, downloaded Evernote again, and as soon as I logged in the Evernote app, all my notes downloaded. Weird. But thanks for answering my post.

  6. I have this problem as well. I had to use App Cleaner and restore from a backup to reinstall 6.11. I've wasted half a day on this. This sucks.

  8. I've made a minor adjustment to this code, it preserves folders and account by making a new notebook for each folder (within an account) and tags the account the note is associated with. This can be easily switched if you prefer your notebooks to be based on accounts and tagged with the folders. tell application "Notes" set theMessages to every note repeat with thisMessage in theMessages set myTitle to the name of thisMessage set myText to the body of thisMessage set myCreateDate to the creation date of thisMessage set myModDate to the modification date of thisMessage set

  9. With Evernote for Windows Desktop you can select File > Import > Microsoft OneNote, to import your content from OneNote. To do this, you must have OneNote 2007, 2010, 2013 or 2016 and Evernote for Windows Desktop installed on the same PC. This option is not available with OneNote for Windows 10 , "OneNote". Click here for more details on the differences between the two.

  10. OK I'm a convert now - have been noticing after recently passing through 40,000 notes (and still going) that any minor change to a note, or sometimes just starting a search will instantly cause Evernote to max out on disk access and slow everything down while it becomes the busiest app on the block for no apparent reason. This lasts for 20-30 seconds and then we're back. Recently annoying on a phone call when I needed a reference number and had to do the "my system is running a bit slow today" BS to fill in time... My laptop is a Win10 i7 Dell with 4GB of memory - spinning rust 1TB HD

  11. Darn, I was afraid of that. The main use / advantage of Sticky Notes for me is the fact that they appear my desktop (Windows) all the time. Although I occasionally create more, I primarily have two Sticky Notes that I work with - one is a "scratchpad" that I use it to jot down random stuff, notes when people call, etc and the other is my "to do" list. Having them open on my desktop all the time saves me from having to open Evernote whenever I want to work with them. I thought about just using two Evernote notes and keeping them open all the time but I like the fact that the Sticky No

  12. For me, selecting text and formatting in ios (latest ipad pro/ios 11 beta) is getting a lot better. That said, the editing is one area of Evernote that still needs a lot of work compared to peoples’ expectations. I’ve no doubt more and more people are going to be using the ipad as a laptop replacement once ios 11 drops and they will expect to be able to do painless basic editing. Please put some extra love here. Thanks

  13. The conflicting notes problem I experienced in the beta is still there, although does seem a bit harder to trigger. However, it hit me within the first hour of using Evernote since updating. I logged support ticket #2195069 with the following text: "The problem I raised in Ticket# 2188207 and that was discussed at length in the beta thread still occurs, although with lower frequency. Version 6.12 (455415 Direct). Unlike that original ticket, I ensured that my network was not at all congested - responsiveness in all apps is good and the only thing I was doing in Evernote was

  14. Ah, thanks for that Jefito. This was my first time in here and I just did a search for the problem I was having. Didn't pay attention to the sub-forum breadcrumbs.

  15. I've made a small change to my workaround instructions which explains how to put an icon on the taskbar to easily activate blocking when needed. Here's the link again: http://www.evernote.com/l/ALrsBe2IrjdFfbGIOZYVpxRJAOUnjFZD2f4/ Cheers.

  16. Yes. This could be fixed if the thing was at least 50% translucent until you hovered over it.

  17. Try the Awesome Screenshot if you want an exact image. Has a print option to create PDFs on FF and Chrome, jpeg works on FireFox. A couple of extra steps versus clipper, but you do get an exact image. FWIW.

  18. Yes, this is outdated. Here's how you do it with the updates: 1) open the note you wish to tag with a new category 2) click the button that is an 'i' inside of a circle 3) Instead of clicking the + sign to add an existing tag, click on the green text that says "add tag" (this is actually a text feild, and will open your keyboard and drop your curser into this text field) 4) Type the new tag's title and press return/ enter on your keyboard; your tag is set, and it will automatically add that tag to your list for future use

  20. Just got my Apple Watch and set up on my iPhone 6+ to "Show App on Apple Watch". It is "installed" and it opens. However, it does not update along with my iPhone. When I open a note on my watch, it is really really old! [It's a shopping list that I have changed many many times since the one displayed.] I have tried turning OFF/ON both iPhone and watch. Uninstalling/Reinstalling Evernote from "My Watch" on iPhone. "Searching" for note instead of looking at what is there. I also tried 'Keeping in Dock" and "Remove". Is this a bug, or is there a solution?

  21. The "Suggested Note Titles" on my iPad app is great. However, the date format does not make sense. "Meeting with Tom 09/12/2016" is ambiguous, and means different things in different parts of the world. The ISO8601 is the universal standard for writing dates, and always results in an unambiguous date "Meeting with Tom 2016-12-09" cannot be misunderstood. As a lot of people like the US format (MM/DD/YYYY), and equally a lot of people like the European format (DD/MM/YYYY), I propose that you create an option to select the date format. See http://www.iso.org/iso/home/standards/iso8

  22. When creating a new note (on iPad), Evernote looks in my calendar, and proposes the current event, followed by the date on the format DD/MM/YY. Please make an option to use the international standard formate ISO8601 (YYYY-MM-DD), which is the only sensible format for showing dates. This should also affect the dates shown below the notes in the note list.

  23. Thanks for your comment. Reason for wanting to know word count? Because I write for publication and must stick to a specified word count. I'm curious that you feel this is niche, seems quite normal to me. Anyway, maybe other apps do this, just a matter of convenience as I like to use Evernote.

  24. [under the title of the note, you'll see the name of the notebook the note is in and the word "more". Tap on "more". You'll see a line that has any tags you already have on that note and an the words "Add Tag". Type in the new tag. Tap in any other field. The new tag will be created. - from Megsaint in Jan] This is not true. The word "more" does NOT follow the name of the notebook, and "Add Tag" does NOT appear after existing tags. Unless I have a rogue version of Evernote on my iPad.

  25. Not for me it doesn't. I just get a map showing my location & the option to use an existing tag
