  1. Are there any plans to add inline code block (like Markdown's `inline code block`)?

  2. After upgrading from 6.4 to 6.6, all my notes now have wide margins on both sides. I cannot find any setting to adjust this. Top and bottom margins are ok. This issue is related to viewing notes..NOT printing.

  3. The so-called zealots are often the folks who have been around long enough to understand that Evernote has historically and consistently been uninterested in providing nested notebooks (this particular thread is a prime example). Pointing that out, and advocating for the use of tags, and offering examples like GMail to show that hierarchical containers aren't necessary features in a product like Evernote isn't attacking anyone; it's giving some context to the conversation. I feel like I understand the use case pretty well (and I'm sure that Evernote does as well), and while I don't need nested notebooks, I understand why some folks believe that they do, or maybe actually do. Sometimes it does indeed come down to the fact that they don't understand tags, and sometimes some tips can help that. Regardless, only Evernote can make the decision to implement nested notebooks, and since they haven't, we users have the power to choose whatever competing product that suits our needs / budget / aesthetics is available, while those that want them in Evernote can continue advocating for them. If that's done respectfully and reasonably, then that's welcome to the conversation as well. Some of it is not, however, and I think that that's when most conflicts occur. *shrug* 'Twas ever thus, on the Internet.

  4. I'm realizing now that the clients for Evernote might vary in many ways. I do have the ability to view children tags of parent tags in my version of Evernote on OSX.

  5. Not so sure about EN promoting notebooks. Notebooks exist as large non-hierarchical buckets for sure, but I think EN is more about promoting tags for organization and notebooks as limiters for search and on-line/off-line storage.

  7. ?? Evernote already does this. Certainly the desktop clients offer all of the same functionality with respect to tags (what GMail calls 'labels'); I tag notes with multiple tags all the time.

  8. On Android, by default, all notes are locked, and requires pressing an onscreen button to enter edit mode. In my opinion, this is the perfect solution for mobile devices, where the vast majority of note access is for reading, not editing. Desktop is a different story, where editing may be very common. But as @JMichaelTX mentioned earlier, multiple concurrent windows and multiple monitors are common these days. I have multiple monitors and more windows than I can count open at any time, including multiple EN note windows. There have been many times where I start typing thinking the desired window is active and it turns out some other window is the active window. Seems to me the optimal solution here is not to default to locked state for all notes (which would require an unlock step prior to editing every note - this could become very onerous very quickly for those who edit notes frequently - think about journals, task lists, etc.), but to give the user an option to lock notes. So notes are unlocked by default and editable. But the user has the option to put the note in a locked state, which requires an unlock step prior to editing (can be a simple one-click unlock). Users can then lock down all their reference notes and other notes they don't anticipate updating frequently.

  9. Agree with that : plain text only. If hyperlinks are userful for some users it should be an option in settings : "keep hyperlinks on copy/paste"

  10. Yes, the size of the fixed margins is a bit absurd. It reduces visible content.

  11. Am I the only one having some specific printing problems with 6.6? To be precise, those wonderful new tables do not print as formatted. Anything else from within Evernote will print as saved and seen on display. Win 10, 32/64Bit Creators Update. Known issue? Any idea how to fix?

  12. @gazumped The inline code block is for example used if you just want to point out a command example. If you, like me, write a lot of tech stuff that feature would be really helpful. Inline example: To show all files in a directory, one would type ls -la and so on Code block example To show all files in a directory, one would type ls -la and so on You see that a code block for short examples breaks the readability?

  13. I support having an "EDIT" and "SAVE" button on Notes, just like we have for files. Autosave to temp location could provide protection in case of crash or the user forgets to save. Today, large monitors are cheap, and many users have two or more monitors. With so many apps/documents open at once, It is not hard to mistake which app/document is current, and start typing/deleting/pasting when you did not intend to make any changes to Evernote.

  14. I prefer the current version - tapping EDIT is only a fingertwitch, and everything defaults to safe unless you take a specific action to change it.
