We lost the hierarchical tag overview window. It used to be, when you clicked on the "Tags" label in the left bar, a window on the right side would show up with all your tags and their hierarchical organization. Now the only thing it does is put "tag:*" in the search bar. The loss of the overview window makes it much harder to work on the hierarchical organization of your tags. Dragging a tag along a long list of tags in the left bar is a PITA, when you have as many tags as I do. Please bring back the tag overview window. "tag:*" is a search I can do myself.

Story: "As a user, I want to easily switch between existing Evernote accounts, on my iOS devices, so that I can easily access notes from several accounts without having to share or mix them in the same account." Acceptance Criteria: - From the Evernote iOS app for iPhone or iPad, users can add multiple account credentials - New account credentials are stored on the device - Users can select an account already added to switch to that account. - Users can delete account that they want to remove from the device. - Removing accounts from the device removes them from the list of accounts and deletes all the associated data. - Supports a mix of accounts using varying authentication schemes; single and 2-phase authentication/ Please update, and or supplement .. Thanks Erick Crowell,

I have been an EN user since Beta, and became a Premium user as soon as it was offered. I do not understand why EN is lagging with simple security options, such as easy encryption of notes and notebooks. This really should be as easy as a Right-Click or selection in properties for a Note or Notebook. The existing method of selecting text in a note and then using a Right-Click option to encrypt it is cumbersome at best. Yes, it is a nice feature if one wants to encrypt only a portion of a note. That's fine. But there should be an easy way to (1) encrypt an entire note without selecting text and (2) encrypt an entire notebook. I would be willing to pay a few bucks extra a year for this additional encryption ability. Seems this should be a no-brainier for EN, both as a tech matter and as a business/profit matter.

Hey, I would like to make a feature request for evernote to implement a text collapse, as seen in coding software such as Dreamweaver. The idea is to make it a little bit easier to organise long lists. Simply mark the desired text, collapse it and then you're able to toggle on and off and eventually remove the collapse when you don't need it anymore. Here's a picture I found: http://www.creativepro.com/files/story_images/20050926_expand.jpg It's a really simple feature, but it would make my Evernote life easier! Philip A

I have thousands of notes in Evernote, mostly about completed consulting projects. I don't want to delete them, but they also clutter up, to a significant degree, my ability to search and sort on the current, relevant stuff--specially because many of the topics and keywords overlap among clients. How do I "archive" or "hide" the old stuff, without deleting it, so that my current notes are easier to manage? I am very familiar with the concept of Notebooks, but what I really need is an entirely new database. I don't want to create a second account. Surely this issue has come up before.

Got my note 4 about the same time my computer crashed and quickly realized if mobile apps only had all the same features as their desktop counter parts, I would have no need for a desktop pc. Would be great to be able to merge notes from the app. Also, didn't see a forum thread for feature requests. Is general discussion the right place for this? Thanks

Danke schon mal. Michael

How to set recurring reminders I just can't find it anywhere or I don't know how to set them up, any help?

I have tried to merge some notes on Evernote web using the instructions provided but no 'merge' pop up screen appears when I hit Control and click the notes I would like to merge. Am I doing something wrong? Also, is it possible to upload voice notes to one specific note on your phone - I am only given the option to create a separate new note per voice note that I would like to upload. I would like all the voice notes to be in one note. Thanks

Additional clarification: If you are running OneNote 2016, OneNote must be open for the import to work. (OneNote 2010 does not - MS changed something internally)

You didn't mention which platform but since 6.0..3 is a Windows version (Mac is on 6.6), I'll assume Windows. There's no one-step move to Business but you can copy to Business and then delete from Personal. To do that, select the desired note or notes in the notes list, then right-click and choose Copy to Business... from the context menu. Then you can just hit Delete to remove them from their current Personal notebook.

This was mentioned by me in the last beta, and the respons I got in that thread was that this ain't a bug but comes with the function of autoselecting child tags when you click on a parent tag. Either you move the parent tag with the hierarchy intact by not selecting the parent tag (and it's children tags) prior to moving it; you just click and drag as a single operation (but make sure that no other tags are selected as well!) OR you deselect the option to include child tags when clicking the parent in settings. I have mentioned that EN should reconsider this approach because the risk of data loss with this learning curve is too big, as there is no undo when moving tags..

Bug: When I drag a hierarchical tag tree to put this tree under another tag, it flattens the hierarchy! The hierarchy of the original tree is gone and I have to recreate it manually.

Hi, I tested out Saferoom for Mac for the first time just now, and ran into a strange issue right away. I duplicated a note, moved it to "Encrypt_Inbox", hit the "Encrypt notes" button (on the Saferoom app), and got an encrypted note. So far so good. I then moved the encrypted note to "Decrypt_Inbox", and hit the "Decrypt notes" button. To my surprise, the result is different from the original note! A side-by-side screenshot is attached below. The difference is too obvious to miss. In fact, all the image inserts in the article have been moved to the end (yes, they are still there thankfully) in the decrypted version. Two more things: the encrypted note is not tagged as "encrypted", nor is the decrypted note tagged as "decrypted" (I remember reading that somewhere, either in this thread or on your website). the url of the original note is missing from the "decrypted" note. (I think it makes sense to strip the information from the encrypted note, but it would be better if such information can be saved in encrypted form and restored when decrypted.) The note I tested with is a news clip from anandtech.com, so I don't mind putting it in a shared notebook if you want to take a look. Let me know. Edit: forgot to say: I tested on OS X 10.11.4, with Evernote v.6.6 (453293 Direct), and Saferoom v.1.6 (166).

@adbmil I realize that have some specific ways you want Evernote to handle your data, but there is another approach that will be a lot easier. That is, just copy the spreadsheet and paste it into an Evernote Note. With the Windows version of Evernote, it will convert your data into an Evernote Table. You can then search for titles and your original "notes" and not have to go to the trouble to create Tags.

Adding my voice. This would be EXTREMELY good and useful. I'm a premium user and am not looking at other options. Evernote is my life, but this would make it better....

Hi and thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying the editing improvements on Windows and Android. Rest assured that the improved editor will get into iOS as well - we're already working on it. Stay tuned! Cheers, Chuck

Yep, when things get really messed up, a clean reinstall is often called for. Personally, I prefer and use AppDelete for an app uninstaller. Some app uninstallers do NOT get all of the hidden files. To do a clean reinstall: See How to Completely Remove and Reinstall EN Mac BTW, I also recommend using the Direct Download version at Evernote.com, rather than the Mac App Store version. From time to time, the App Store version has had bugs NOT in the Direct Download version.

Oh that's a shame I really like using evernote but the absence of recurring reminders is a let down hope in future updates evernote team will do something regarding this.

Being able to manually create new contact notes without all the fuss would be fantastic. Evernote could be so much more powerful with better support for templates.
  25. 1 point
Looks like new accounts don't get a choice. Pretty weak that users are being forced to use what Evernote themselves call a beta.
  26. 1 point
These are all good suggestions and useful workarounds, but what is apparent is that this capability is not built into Evernote which is shocking. This seems like a very elementary requirement--even just a special tag that makes notes hidden would be sufficient. Evernote folks: Please talk to your users. I suspect this is a high priority need.
  27. 1 point
Some other ideas: I don't believe Evernote ever empties your trash automatically -- my trash currently has 1,500 notes in it -- but so long as you put notes in the trash they are excluded from searching (and can easily be restored, if need be). You can also merge multiple notes into one. I do a lot of keynote addresses about futurism, and after each speech is finally given, I merge all the notes related to it -- correspondence, the actual speech, invoice, etc. -- into one note, to cut down on the number of separate notes found by a search. (Use Ctrl-Left-Mouse-Click to select multiple notes for merging.) You can also tag all your older data with the tag "Archive," and then do future searches to specifically exclude any note with that tag; this will find only unarchived notes that mention "orangutan": -TAG:Archive orangutan

Hi. It has come up a few times - a quick search here for "archive notebook" turns up around 800 hits. There are various alternatives, including an Archive Stack and a second account with notebooks shared between the two. Your preference may depend on how often you'll need to archive material, and whether you'll need to search it again at a later date. Have a look at some of the options - a web search for "Evernote archive notes" gets 800 thousand hits.

I am having the same problem as Ms. Cooke. I have tons of business cards already "scanned" into Evernote via the app but how do I take those and transfer them into the iCloud? The ones I've done since I corrected the "save contact info to contacts" switch have appeared in my contacts but not the ones prior. Is there a way to do this? If I missed a prior post on this I'm sorry!

I support a "no distractions view" being available, but I do NOT want it to become the only available web interface. It's great for those times when I don't want to see more than what I'm working on Right Now, but the rest of the time it's a huge inconvenience. I would like to see Evernote keep both layouts available long term, since they serve vastly different purposes. Other web services I use allow beta opt-out initially, but eventually force a switch. If Evernote takes that step with their "no distractions" web interface, I will likely be forced to find another data management software service.

This worked for me: Preferences => Security & Privacy => Tab "Privacy" => Contacts. If Evernote not ticked, tick. Restart Evernote.
