  1. Hi all, Over the last few months, we’ve introduced a lot of new features and enhancements to Evernote. Now that we’ve stepped up the pace of our app updates, here’s a recap of some of the highlights to make sure you don’t miss out on any recent improvements that you might find helpful: Get the Evernote that’s right for you - We released a new lineup of subscription plans to make it easier for you to get exactly what you need. Whether you want to be more organized, keep your home and family life on track, or be more productive at work, there’s a plan that’s right for you. Easily manage projects and workflows - The new filtered notes widget helps you turn Home into mission control for anything you want to accomplish. It does this by displaying notes based on your chosen criteria alongside related tasks, calendar events, and more—so all the info you need to move your projects forward is front and center. Capture important info, right from Home - Create new entries from your notes, tasks, notebooks, and tags widgets. Click the button in the upper right-hand corner of these widgets to add content, without having to switch your context. Find what you need, faster - Filtered searches help you find your notes based on their attributes, like when you created them or what they contain. Now you can save your filtered searches for future use. Evernote will also suggest filters after you perform a search or add a filter. A smoother note-taking experience - We’ve made enhancements to the editor, so it behaves more intuitively. The editor is now better at recognizing emails and URLs, turning these into clickable links. It’s also better at handling dragging-and-dropping and copying-and-pasting files to and from Evernote. In addition to releasing updates more frequently, we’re constantly discovering more ways Evernote can be useful to you. Check out these blog posts on how Evernote can help college students be more organized and how fantasy football fans can use it to get a competitive edge. This is a quick summary of what’s new. For a more detailed rundown, visit our blog. As always, I’m looking forward to hearing about your experience with the latest improvements. Take care, Shane

  2. Hey y'all... this thread has diverged from complaining about why Evernote doesn't meet our personal needs and into political territory outside of Evernote's control! Can we please just refocus on demanding that Evernote build their apps to meet our particular needs so the product managers don't eventually quit in favour of drafting government policies? 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

  3. I have been a premium user for 11 years now. I struggle with every aspect of Evernote now, where as for about the first 9 of these 11 years I was using Evernote multiple times a day and a strong advocate. What has happened? It feels to me like they are not doing focus groups with users to make sure that new features are a)needed b) implemented well and further to that - things that need improving have not changed at all since day 1 (like the basic ability to support varying thumbnail sizes or improving support for stylus (S pen / Apple Pencil) input. I am so disillusioned that after 11 years I want out.

  4. 🚧UPDATE: .. regarding EN10.23.7 i had a chat with EN Support: The issue is still currently open with the development team and they are working diligently to get this resolved. inBetween: stay tuned and taste some wine🍷 will keep you updated

  5. Thanks for the reports. We've paused our Windows rollout temporarily while we continue to investigate the issue.

  6. I hope the import option will also allow to keep after import. Almost every note I have comes thru an import folder from Dropbox. I never delete any of them. It is a pretty good pre-backup.

  7. At this point I would rather have the option to preview documents and image files in EN just like with PDFs, PNGs etc. I guess a calculation table/ calculator could be added as a Home widget short term, for on the go calculations, either by Evernote or a third party. If Evernote finds the time to do a full calculation integration in the text editor at some point, that would also be great, but an image preview allows for so many other uses.

  8. I dream about this feature! I read this topic and see that many guys don't get it. They talk about encryption, hacker protection e. t.c. But we want it not to hide our sensitive information from Putin KGB officers When I talking about sensitive information I mean notebook with my journal and reflection about how ***** company that i work, or notebook in which I collect articles about best ways to please your partner in bed. Or notebooks with gift ideas for girlfriend. There is nothing criminal or illegal in this notebooks. I just don't wanna that on a work meeting when I show marketing proposal somebody bt chance saw this personal notebook, cuz I use Evernote for all my note taking needs. So all I need is ability to setup PIN code on personal Notebook

  9. I still have the line in my config.json file - in my case set to 500. I was just able to select 500 notes without any problem. The 'multiselectionlimit' variable doesn't exist in config.json by default any longer in Windows but adding it still works... "qa": { "multiSelectionLimit": 500 } However, I rarely need to select anything near the default 50 limit so it really isn't a benefit to me to have tweaked the setting. I just tried it as an experiment which interestingly continues to work on Windows (EN v10.23)

  10. +1 from me also. Tried other, always come back to EN. Its worth paying as you get central hub for all your documents, easy search options for them and OCR ( best in class ). Solid iPhone app, web access and desktop app. So yeah, def good purchase. Additionaly I have backup of all of my documents on NAS.

  11. Thanks @PinkElephant Well to each their own @Frki2 :-) I guess that's the basic problem behind EN, they need to be all things to all people to keep the investors happy, but we are all different and have different needs... in my case I used EN mostly with the web clipper, as a way to curate page, code fragments and screenshots from around the web, and Obsidian works brilliantly for that, especially now that it finally has an Android version (Disclaimer: haven't tried it yet)

  12. I think you can assume that any suggested feature is on list somewhere, and will be referred to whenever the company is doing maintenance or considering updates in that area. Bear in mind that Evernote get thousands of feature requests, running from "I don't like the shade of green you use" to "why not add outlining and mind maps as optional layouts". Every suggestion has to go through a process of Is this even possible? (Bearing in mind multiple devices / screen sizes / OS's) How much will it cost? Of our 200M+ users, from students to astronauts - how many would actively use this? What will it cost in speed / bandwidth terms? - and even if it meets all these tests (and probably dozens more) a "minor" improvement may mean substantially rewriting a big chunk of code to add the extra links for the new bit to fit in. That might get put off until that particular code needs an annual review anyway - due in a couple of years - to get planned in to any other work that comes up in the meantime. So even if someone said "We'll look into this" - it may not happen for years, and if a different bit of development takes priority, or user needs change, maybe not even then. But for ever after: cue endless reminders of "when is this coming?" ... "You said you'd consider it..." I'm with @PinkElephant - I'd rather they just hide in their bunker and get on with whatever they're doing. If the app fits my needs, I'll continue using it. If there are glitches, I'll find work-arounds; and if it becomes unusable - I'm outta here. No dramatic flounces, no impassioned statements - just a faint smell of brimstone and a drifting tumbleweed...

  14. No need to edit - I show you how to do it. Because it is not perfectly clear from the video what I did, to add a column or a row I simply clicked / tapped on the Right / bottom edge of the existing table. To remove a col / row, I place the cursor in a cell of that row / col, tap on the downward arrow and choose „remove selected row / col“. Because I did it on the iPad, the soft keyboard keeps popping up. If you do it on a desktop, the keyboard will not always interfere. IMG_2265.MP4

  15. Feedback is a gift so here is why I'm leaving after being a paid subscriber for a long time... I just wanted an app that allowed me to take notes and customize itself to be as clean and possible. With all the fancy changes we've lost the ability to customise Evernote to suit our needs. It feels like the engineering team think they know how we should use it and are enforcing that on us. Case in point, we can no longer make the title the default when creating new notes. I often Evernote for quick tasks and sometimes the ONLY peice of text is in the title. Why make me click it each time? I have also long wished for the ability to remove unwanted clutter as well but this has never been a feature to the extent I wanted it, and now you have even less control. Basic things like not being able to paste in from SnagIt. This is a known bug but is a big deal. It did work, now it doesn't and it doesn't seem to be a prioity. Evernote, you had a good thing going, you tried to be too fancy and dictate to us how we should use your product. In the process you broke some key functionality. I've just cancelled my subscription and are going to use OneNote.

  17. @Paul A.Amazon fix is ready and released in 7.15; Gmail fix will not be in 7.15 or 7.16. The Gmail fix is still in development but will be coming asap, but no eta at the moment. Possible workarounds to consider in the meantime, hopefully the Evernote for Gmail add-on or forwarding to the incoming Evernote email address can fill in until then.

  18. Received a reply from @evernotehelps that they "can confirm that this is an issue we are aware of. We recognize this is a feature mentioned in our App store release notes, and we're so sorry for any inconvenience this has caused. Our development team is tracking and diligently investigating a potential fix that can be made through Evernote as soon as possible." So apparently we need to "stay tuned".

  19. Support ticket is open, devs are investigating the issue. Meanwhile use „Open with …“, or place an import folder on your desktop, and drop content on it to get it imported.

  20. I just read somewhere that the clipper team at EN would count 40 devs - which would be a very significant resource dedicated to keep up with the ever changing web design and security features. It is 3 basic browser concepts ("engines"), and a far higher number of actual browsers derivated from them. Plus an ever growing number of editors, content managers and other tools applied to make web sites what they are today. Kudos to the team that works on this !

  21. Confirming here that doesn't work for me either. I'm concluding it is a bug and didn't report it. Viewing this release as more as a preview of what is to come with a patch/next release as very few things work for me as announced in the release notes. For example, the new suggested filters feature – I can see a brief flicker on screen of the suggested filters, but they don't stay/stick. It's a very buggy release. Except, the copy/paste of images functionality works so, I'm happy!

  22. Adding to a dated thread... sorry about that... but I can't help but comment I'm not anything like as power a user as the users who are commenting here. And that's relevant: For me, consistency in behavior makes it easier to learn the platform and apply it to my needs. I bumped into this thread because I was getting confused by the seemingly random changes in views. "Hey, what happened to that column... uffda." And I woudn't have perceived that clicking on the notebook name to get back to three column view was a feature -- I would have just perceived it as "Now what just happened!??", especially since I would have lost the focus on the note -- "Where did it go?" IMO, any perceived benefit of increased focus gets lost on a non-expert user like me who nevertheless uses Evernote All The Time... and I just perceive making the program harder to use. And I have to say, there are a bunch of these kinds of things like this that I come across -- what I perceive as quirky behavior that gets in the way that I really don't want to take the time to get to the bottom of. For me, consistency of behavior is really important. Hope this perspective is helpful. Vinnie

  24. Evernote added some file associations to support "Open-With" and "Send-To" to auto import some file types. Sounds like your system did not have default handling configured for some files and the OS was handling them for you. You can use this article to reset the associations to apps you want to use - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/change-which-programs-windows-7-uses-by-default-62fd162f-8c82-0436-806f-c60d69dcf495 You can also right click on the file and then "Open with" and select an application and set that applicaiton to always open that file type.

  25. I have some notes that go on and on which I have been breaking apart into separate notes and then not remembering which note had the piece that I needed to refer back to. Then when I was building my website and added a longer data collection form I used a collapsible section in that form and suddenly I can't imagine not having this feature in Evernote. This feature alone would be worth the price of admission. I'm not prone to begging but.... please, please, please, make me some collapsible dividers/sections in individual notes!!! Thank you in advance!

  26. I'm super used to typing in vim with Insert, Command, and View modes. It would be super useful to be able to type and edit my Evernote notes with at least Insert and Command modes. I know there's the vim-evernote plugin, which leverages Geeknote, which I like... but often I want the full UX/UI of the Evernote desktop app AND the vim mode at the same time 😕 I am happy to see the new(er) Keyboard Shortcuts feature and am hoping the work done for that would allow Evernote developers to more easily implement a vi mode for editing notes.

  27. I've been with Evernote ever since it used a calculator roll display, so likewise long-term and sticking with Legacy unless and until the wrinkles get ironed out of the new version. The problem with Evernote, I think, was that they decided to listen to users - who wanted (amongst many other things) the same experience on all devices in all operating systems including the web; and a standard layout no matter what size display. Sadly that didn't allow for the fact that the UI had to be dumbed down so the worst-featured device could operate as smoothly as all the others - and the fonts available had to be restricted to ones that were available to all displays and all systems. Evernote tried to fit in with that by using a 'wrapper' app that allows it to function on most devices - but no-one in house had any great experience with coding for that type of software. So I'd guess they brought in new hires and temporary staff and tried to reinvent the app from the ground up. Pretty much everything else - slowness, glitches and missing features - flows from that. It'll clear up or it won't. The company is on iteration 22 or so of the version, so they're clearly working very hard to get things up to speed, and have been pretty successful in some areas... Evernote wouldn't be the first of my favourite apps to bring in new services that fundamentally changed the way I use it. I bet it won't be the last.

  28. Please advise if Applescript is still supported by the latest Mac version (10.0) https://dev.evernote.com/doc/articles/applescript.php I found it But please be aware that there are a handful of features—such as AppleScript, import folders, and the ability to edit note creation dates—that are not yet available.

  29. It looks like the actual requirement has not been expressed properly. The real problem is that the list of stacks and notebooks can become cluttered with items that are not used frequently. Most of us would just like to reduce the size of the list without changing any tags or structures. A simple solution would be an option to tick any item in the list so that it is not displayed unless (a) a search reveals a note within the notebook/stack or (b) the option to "reveal all" is selected.

  30. Just for testing, I created 50 notes, selected them and tagged this selection with a single tag. It took more than 4 minutes! Adding a second tag took about the same time. Deleting the 50 notes was extremely slow as well 🙄 All this on a high end gaming laptop with 16GB of ram, V10 installed on SSD and a 200 Mbit connection

  31. When I export a note as a pdf, the embedded picture file just stays like it shoes in the note: Cut to dimension, distortion corrected. The pictures were created using the build in scanner of the EN iOS app 10.19, document type "document - b&w". The embedded file is a PNG. Will be interesting what the outcome with support will be.

  33. OK, will play with them a little. I use just one on a regular basis, the one to send a website into a EN note (instead of the sharing function). This works in most cases, on a few websites it doesn‘t. But often these are websites that don‘t support reader mode either, so it is probably a technical issue with the website. In general, to reach out to EN and to hear from them you need to issue a support ticket. I would rather issue one for each shortcut, because it makes following up easier. The forum can produce answers from other users, but that is it.

  34. This problem persists after at least 10 months. Syncing is abysmal. Using the desktop app, I created a new note, added an image. It made that image the thumbnail. Took too long for something so simple. Then, I removed it, added a new image. The thumbnail went away. Then after taking way too long to come back, it was the original, now deleted image, not the new image I put into the note. I feel like if the feedback I linked below was implemented, none of this guesswork on which issue to make the thumbnail and syncing and all that jazz would immediately go away. You guys are making this harder than it needs to be. People have been wanting the below solution for 10 YEARS, and instead you are using if statements to try to guess what image should show.

  35. @magnus110 Thank you for reaching out! This is an issue we're aware of, and working to address. As a workaround, please try these steps to see if helps to fix the problem. Open **Finder** From the menu bar select **Go > Go To Folder...** Paste `~/Library/Application Support/` (DDL) or `~/Library/Containers/com.evernote.Evernote/Data/Library/Application Support/` (app store) and press **Go**. Locate the folder titled `Evernote` and rename it to `Evernote.old`. Launch Evernote and try signing in. Let me know if this issue persists after trying these steps.

  38. i'm on a Samsung S20 plus (Exynos). Just 1300 notes 10.18 2 offline notebooks. both work well. the list of notebooks is however buggy. sometimes have to start evernote before sharing content to it (or share the content twice). Otherwise snappy. Starts in about 2 seconds. All operations pretty much instantaneous.

  39. Don‘t expect an answer from EN here - the forum is user2user. If you want to check in, try to send a support ticket. Unfortunately you often only learn something like „aware of, working on“.

  40. I experience exactly the same - every each step - crippled sharing to Evernote experience as Tim Kowal on all my different Android devices (Samsung topsellers). I once tried to issue this with support but they said they could not reproduce. I think they really do not put much effort on the Android platform. Since EN10 quality and performance was iOS first (and only) from the very beginning. Not being able to get standard functions like "sharing to" right in 10 months says everything about Evernote's priorities.

  41. I have this issue with all the latest versions of the Mac Desktop application, not just in-browser. Literally drains my battery down to 2-3 hours from 8. Anybody know of a fix? Sounds like web version isn't any better.

  42. Hi, I just went through support (ticket# 3383733) to be confirmed, that Evernote 10 for Android has NO background sync capabilities. Back in the days EN 8.13.3 could be set to a specific sync interval for background syncing so that when you start the app you are good to go with the remote changes already being on your device. In 2021 we have push syncing cloud services. OneNote and Google Keep do real time syncing without even having to start the app. Let's look what missing background syncing means at the moment: - no remote changes on scratchpads are on your mobile when you fire up EN10 on the go (having to wait 20-60 seconds to load then) - no remote set or changed reminders are on your mobile so you are likely to miss your reminders (this happens to me regularly) - no remote changes in your notes contained in offline notebooks are downloaded to your device so you cannot rely on having the latest stuff on the device when being offline later. - when firing up EN for Android I have to wait around 20-60 seconds to have "home"-screen updated completely if EN did not run for some hours on mobile. Support seriously told me, to be sure to have these standards features you have to open the mobile app after every time you did a change on web or desktop. If you collaborate with others you don't know about the changes and are out of luck. I suggest re-adding a background or push sync Android service to EN10 that could ensure this basic syncing stuff by updating the database in the background (as back in EN8.13.3).

  43. Now it is possible to put the headings of three levels. It would be great if a table of contents for a note is automatically created based on them

  44. Just to let people know, this might help - following PinkElephant's suggestion, I deleted the iOS app completely from my iPad. I then powered off. I re-installed the app v10.14 and provided my account details again. Now it seems a lot faster and the phantom notebooks have gone. I guess I had a local database corruption following the upgrade from v6 to v10 and the subsequent enforced business account split. I hope this helps people.

  45. I have lots of lists using the old checkbox feature and I especially like that the text does not change to strike-through after checking the checkbox. After upgrading to v10.4.4, Evernote for Windows keeps automatically switching my check box lists to checklists and changes all text to strike-through for checked items. This happens anytime I press enter anywhere in any of the items on any line. It is impossible to add a new line anywhere - in the middle, at the end, ANYWHERE, without the list getting switched to a checklist. PLEASE allow us to disable this new "feature". I can understand how some people might like checklists and I may even use them too, but please do not automatically assume that every list I have needs to get switched to a checklist. If I start with a list of check boxes, keep it that way. When I press enter for a new line, I want a check box on the new line, not everything switched to checklist. If I create a checklist, then keep it a checklist - that's fine. Just do not automatically switch everything to checklists.

  46. I've been wanting this option for years. If it's read-only by choice, where the user knows the consequences of unlocking if prior to editing, then there shouldn't be an issue.
