  1. I'm a visual person. I like seeing images to help me find my way through a bunch of files, and I like structure -- things to be visually organized. Evernote's true power is in the fact that it'll accept anything you throw at it (pain text, an attachment of any kind, a screen shot, a web clip, and audio file etc etc). And you can put all of this together into a single "note". It's not always the case, but let's say I buy a lawnmower this summer. In a single note I can store a scan of the receipt, the instruction manual, a photo of the serial number, the URL to the manufacturer's websi

  4. Hi all, Earlier this year, we launched a brand-new feature in Evernote for desktop and web: Home. Today I’m happy to announce that we’re starting to roll out Home for iOS and Android (OS 10 and up) as well! Soon you’ll be able to access Home on all your devices, making it the best way to start your day in Evernote. Home gives you immediate access to your most recent and relevant information from one convenient location. Individual widget size is fixed on mobile, but otherwise, Home offers the same functionality across desktop, mobile, and web. Text you

  5. Hmm, ehrt74's response doesn't seem particular detailed. I wonder why. Out of curiosity I just checked a tablet equipped with Android Evernote V8.13.3 (June '20 release) and the sidebar, for example, seems indistinguishable from the new, improved web version. That said, I must recant a previous criticism of Evernote when comparing it to Joplin. A check today showed both apps returning proper results for Japanese, Russian, German, et al. The lack of search results I previously noted had only been observed using the New! Improved! web interface. That would be same interface that flashed the

  8. I have no doubt, er, little doubt you are correct. This begs the question of how many months of v10's deployment can be honestly be described as a roll out. In a little over a week it will be six months since that accursed Evernote email notice arrived to tell me "The new Evernote is here." Certainly customers should be advised of a roll out schedule, no? I've received no such notice from the company. Without your help I wouldn't have realized I was a second class Evernote Web citizen. This morning I tried web access again and was rewarded with a large popup notice asking if I wouldn't li

  9. I'm a long time and a huge user of Evernote. Since the rewrite it has been a nightmare. Yes as it's already said : it's so slow. But not only : UI events are handled in random order, with keystokes handled before mouse clicks, even if you did it the other way. The worse thing I've ever seen in decades of computer usage. The longer the notes are, the worse it is. And some of my notes are really long. It's unbearable. The rythm of new versions is intense, and each time I hope a performance improvment, but no. More features I absolutely don't care about. There are UI changes t

  11. Hello, I am running 10.11.5 on my Macbook pro (intel processor and 2 years old). I have been a long time user of Evernote (6 years plus) and am on a paid plan. However, the Evernote website won't let me contact support because their site goes in a huge loop. I am VERY frustrated with Evernote lately. I cannot get Evernote to sync from my Macbook application over to any of the online web interfaces or any of the other devices. (I am on a plan that gives me unlimited devices). I have tried all the troubleshooting steps like quitting Evernote, restarting, making sure it isn't

  13. Technically your picture is downloaded, but it's just black. 😛 I have tried to save a picture from a note on my phone and same happened. Got just a black picture. So another bug in the buggy v10 android app. V10 is a mess on android at the moment from the very beginning. Support is super slow, feedback info seems like it's not getting to the developers - you give them feedback but you don't get anything (bugfixes) back. I'm using android version just for reading my notes and do all my editing on windows, where basic Evernote functionalities are working (but still not fully restored from

  14. "A little unkind" - OK. I've been in charge for development for a long time - such basic functionality should be either on the list of ToDos from the start on (to implement user friendly i18ned SW) or even implicit thinking of developers itself 😉 Meantime I use Legacy - which uses system dates - and AutoHotKey to support key combinations that add dates and times in various formats as I need them. My notes forinstance routinely have valid Creation Dates to sort into chronological order. But this is crazy:

  16. I'm in almost the same boat as you. I don't have any Apple devices however and my most recent Android devices are only up to Pie (9). My options for satisfying any v10 curiosity were the PC desktop (never again) and the web. In the past I'd used the web interface on the rare occasion I was restricted to a Linux box. Nowadays Android tablets, VNC, and SSH have removed even that use case. So it appears I'll be sticking to Legacy versions for the remaining months of my Premium subscription. There are worse fates.

  17. The merging notes problem finally seems to have been fixed in V10.11.5 This means that two major bugs preventing me from using V10 have finally been fixed (this one + the incomplete indexing of prior-to-v10 text in images) . I will now try to use V10 more - to see if any other showstoppers remain.

  21. Duplicating notes on the PC will result in creating a copy of the note in the background. My expectation is that the new duplicated note would be brought to the foreground/becomes the active note (same behavior as IOS). This is seemingly a trivial bug, however, depending on where you are on the notes list, it might be difficult to find the duplicated notes.

  22. For a while now I've noticed that when merging or duplicating notes, some attachments (web clippings, PDFs, etc.) get dropped. Not all of them, but some of them. I just duplicated a note that contained a web clipping, and the note got duplicated but the web clipping was missing. When merging multiple notes some of which may contain attachments, it's a hit or miss; some of the attachments make it to the merged note but others do not. Like I said, this has been going on for a while now and I have reported it several times, but I never got a response. I suppose I need to open a ticket...

  23. I just tested against 10.10.5 for Mac and the same problem still exists. It's great that there's an awareness of when the sync algorithm gets overrun by data (good troubleshooting from @Jeff Bass. I keep hoping that Evernote corrects the issues in v10+ and also at least reaches feature/performance parity with the Legacy version. Until the basics are fixed, it's hard to recommend Evernote as the right tool for managing notes.

  24. Back to verson 8.13.2 until this android clipping is fixed. As above, in latest version, stale tags persist, clipping doesn't complete in the background and only finishes when returning to evernote; next time I clip the previous clip has saved but a new window is hanging there to be cancelled. Hard work. Looking at Onenote and Joplin though....

  25. Thanks to all who contribute to this thread. Having tried the new Evernote a coupler of times and absolutely hated it, I am glad to see that alternatives are coming along. After more than a decade on premium, I am definitely leaving as soon as I see an easy escape, and thanks to folks here, I am seeing plausible exits opening up. I did port to OneNote as an experiment but that did not work well. Besides, even on a desktop, ON is very Internet and server dependent and as a consequence, unpredictable, and unresponsive at times, at least when I tried it and the way I was experimenting.

  31. I've been using the Windows app since many years. With the recent upgrade Evernote has become so slow it's unusable. Switching between notebooks and notes, updating something in a note, everything just takes really long to actually use the app efficiently. The UI also doesn't make any sense with some part of the screen super packed and other parts completely empty. This is unfortunately another example how a great app got ruined by trying to make things "better". For me, Evernote has worked perfectly before. There was really no reason to "imporove" anything. I'll wait another updat

  32. I spend much more time saving items in Evernote than I do searching and recalling saved notes. So saving new notes has to be quick and slick. However the new note tagging system is painful, to the point of being a deal breaker! I hope I'm just missing something? If so pray tell. When saving an item from android, The fact new notes are prepopulated with same tags used the previous time, I think is subjective and personally I do see the benefit. However, where this falls over for me is the method to remove the prepopulated tags if they don't apply this time around. You have to s

  33. Hello, I realized the Presentation Mode is gone in the new MacOs update. Presentation Mode is the ONLY reason I paid years of Premium Membership for. I use it almost on a daily basis. I would regret to cancel if this feature is now removed for good. But I hope you can bring it back soon.

  34. Sharing the same frustration. I wss thinking that there was some obscure option/setting regarding the tagging process when clipping new notes in Android. I can understand the need for prepopulation of tags if one is doing a lot of repetitive capture, however, if there were settings/options regarding tags applied to new notes I would expect the new notes to default with an empty tag list. Removing or editing the prepopulated tags whilst capturing/clipping a new note using Android (share to Evernote) requires one to search for each tag automatically applied, then unselect the u

  37. Dear Evernote Team, thank you for continuing to evolve my potentially most cherished piece of software. However, the new v10 I just installed is annoyingly hard to use, because all interactions are so slow: Clicking on anything is no longer snappy like in typical desktop apps, but rather a slow and laggy experience, and I see the dreaded spinning wheel everywhere, e.g., just by switching between notes. Luckily we can roll back to the v7 client for now, but I hope this can be solved and the UI made fluid and usable, as this version of Evernote is, I am sorry to say, 100% unusable to me. Looking

  38. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring back tabs! I use the Mac version, and tabs are essential (as mentioned by another poster). I always have several tabs open. I have a Daily Work List that is my main tab and I click on other tabs for doing other work. As a Premium subscriber, I believe that EN should have taken a user survey before making the incredible decision to jerk tabs out.

  41. For the first two and a half months of 2020 the v8 Android app was probably the app I used second most (behind a v5 Mac app) using it every day and I found it perfectly fine... Web seemed fine too on the occasions I used it, which I admit wasn't often... Actually last I tried I found I can't use the new web app, just wouldn't load at all for me, so I have myself set to one of the TWO other web versions... just checked and I have it set to "classic" as opposed to either "previous" or "new"... Perfectly usable...

  42. I would love it if the Remarkable folks would loosen up on the impulse to try and control the data. Their hardware looks really nice, but I don’t want a kludgy interface with Evernote. A back end integration to use the Remarkable pad with Evernote data would be killer. Maybe one of the companies could buy the other and make it happen.

And 'saving all user data and passwords' is not possible or advisable, and may not be legal under your local information laws. Evernote is for filing and finding personal or business notes, not detailed user record keeping.

  46. Hi, I have been using evernote for quite a long time, since when it did not look so good. However, the UI of evernote has been changed a lot, it looks a lot better now. But what makes me sad is: it's loosing its productivity. I use evernote on both Windows and Android. To talk about android, it made me pretty happy when I first came across the recent massive change in UI, everything looked great. But after using it for 3-4 days, what I found was it's performance has been reduced a lot. Whenever I minimize the app and open it a bit later, the whole app loads from scratch. NO MULTITASK

  47. I really hope Evernote has a performance team that is constantly trying to improve performance of all the apps. I haven't noticed any major improvements in App performance since the new version has come out. I've noticed off late that even the web version is prohibitively slow. Basic things like typing in the note editor and adding a tag oftentimes has a 4-5 second lag. It is not a pleasant experience. I often find myself switching back to the old faithful native Mac client. I'm concerned that Everntote should not take it's focus off performance as it continues to add fancy new feat
