  2. I think given the frustration of users from the preview, beta and now the general release about the removal of functions and sparse information about which may still be under development, I think it would be a good idea for Evernote to publish a full roadmap to show which features are coming and a list of those that have been removed for good. I don't think this would even need dates, just a list of features with a guide as to In Development | Coming Later | Removed Permanently and to show where the new client is going. I think this would give users a clear indication of what to expect and maybe a little faith back. Communication goes a long way with things like this. Personally I would really like to see this, especially as I feel a lot of the beta feedback has been ignored. My premium subscription renewed a little while ago so I am going to cancel my auto renewal, then if it improves before it is due again (and I really hope it does) I will consider re-instating it. I am afraid I cant see the value in paying for this when there are other products available that suite my workflow better than the current build. I have enjoyed Evernote for years but personally feel this is a step back in terms of product development. If you agree please think about giving this post a vote in the hope it is picked up by the team.

  3. Feature Request: Add Outlining Capabilities to Evernote Evernote is great, but it's dying for the ability to create Notes that contain Outlines which are easily collapsed and expanded during creation and in use. One way to implement it would be a switchable editing mode, between standard formatting or outline mode. In outline mode, pressing the Enter key creates a new outline item, and pressing the Tab key changes the current item into a sub-item. Clicking on an item's action icon causes its sub-items to collapse out of, or expand into view. That's the way the Ecco Pro PIM did it, and something simple like that would be a good start for Evernote. The name Evernote implies a product that takes notes -and collapsible/expandable outlines are a huge part of note taking.

  4. I`ve just installed the new v. 10 and I just couldn't believe my eyes: oh, no, they kept most of the horrible beta version they realeased a few weeks ago! I would't call it an upgrade. I see it as a new concept, a whole new design - and they turned the back to old customers, simple as that. I spend 90%> of my computer time at Evernote. It has been so for the past 11 years, my workflow is based on Evernote, I have thousands of notes. They messed everything up. My first shock (not yet recovered): they killed the local databases and syncing. Who asked me if I want to have all my notes on the cloud ALONE? I'm collecting a list of missing functions and I'll add to this node. For now, my statement is that the downgraded their own piece of software. They sacrified a robust desktop client in favour to an Andoid-like app: just the basics. Not my idea of a note taking software.

  5. It's unbelievable how such a good product can turn into such a bad thing that it induces a customer from years of using the product and the platform to start a process of mass migration of their data to the competition. How can a company do not make a market research, a survey among its loyal customers about what they expect or not from a new version. To me, if Evernote continues like this, it really died. And there it is to look for alternatives to other products, which maybe don't have all the features of Evernote but at least they don't charge us for what they can't offer, different from Evernote which keeps charging and at the same time has removed crucial functions for me. Let's go to the list of CRUCIAL functions that have been removed, and that for me disfigure the whole product: - There is no way to change the color of lateral toolbar from Dark. - There is no way to put shortcuts list in the top of screen. It will not move anymore - There are only FIVE Fonts. For me that store computer code in the notes, it is A TERRIBLE choice - Desktop App is a web based one, and notes are not synchronized anymore. Just turn off your Ethernet adapter and the program will not show notes anymore. The proof is that you are able to show "developer options" that show a web page render in the right side of the screen. Another proof is you can use the old classic version side by side with the new one, so the new version 10 is not using the database files that is stored locally. - I can't change the Interface Language. I like to use English Interface, since I can have a lot of info in foruns instead to get translated the Brazilian version to English one. - I can't create a Notebook inside the Notebook stack as I always did. You need to first create the Notebook, then move it to stack - I can't grab a screen capture anymore - I can't Paste text directly to Evernote note (CTRL+shitf+V) anymore - I can't import a folder anymore - I can't un-stack a Notebook from a stack using right click mouse. I need to drag an drop them. - I can't narrow a search inside a specific Notebook or Notebook Stack. Please, if you noted some another missing feature, feel free to contribute to this list.

  6. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring back tabs! I use the Mac version, and tabs are essential (as mentioned by another poster). I always have several tabs open. I have a Daily Work List that is my main tab and I click on other tabs for doing other work. As a Premium subscriber, I believe that EN should have taken a user survey before making the incredible decision to jerk tabs out.

  8. You destroyed Evernote with this new version. Why don't you think twice about ***** people's lives? Everything that has changed has changed for the worse. I have been using it since 2012. The worst version ever. The slowest and dumbest.

  9. Thanks for nothing. In one swoop you have completely destroyed my workflow and 7 years worth of an information database. Many moons ago with the idiotic limitation of 250 notebooks I was forced to go the tagging route. That took a whole weekend to re-organise 3000+ notes. BUT once set up it did work well and no longer a limit on a high level entity. Today that's all gone - colour coded tag tiles gone. AND when you go to a tag area and create a new note you are bounced to ALL notes - the new note is not kept with the tag set. OK so I thought I'd look at Notebooks again and moving notes within tag to a Notebook - oh no the data is lost - brilliant how can that possibly happen! This is a complete waste of space - and I am now looking at moving out of Evernote to something else - I just hope that the receiving software can read in Evernote data.

  10. I've participated in the Preview and the Beta programmes for this release. I've noted bugs when I've seen them, responded to the feedback questionnaires and posted observations to the Preview and Beta forums. I'm really surprised to see this release go live when the most recent beta didn't seem nearly ready. It feels as if this release has been rushed rather too rapidly. Perhaps to catch up with the iOS release? It doesn't even feel like a robust Beta, let alone a full release. I appreciate this is a "journey" and improvements can still be made, etc. etc. but shouldn't the app at least... you know... work? I made a list of some of the basic functionality that I was waiting to see fixed. I say "fixed" because these are all things that already existed in the previous release and have not been implemented in 10.0.10. Tabs! - Imagine using a web browser and the developer removed the ability to open more than one tab at a time. My mother only uses one tab in her web browser but I suspect she might be in the minority. This was highlighted early on in the beta programme and seems to have been ignored. Local links - Again, highlighted early on and seemingly ignored. Not only does it seem impossible to create a local link to a note, existing evernote:// links no longer work. Imagine if you were a paying Evernote customer (I am) who'd created a lot of links in other applications (I have)! No need to imagine, I guess. So all the carefully-crafted links are not honoured. Why take this functionality away? Or why send out a product before it has this basic functionality included? </rhetorical> PDF Annotation Summaries - I annotate documents, research papers etc. Previously, annotations were summarised at the top of the note. Really useful stuff! That's no longer available. Not only that, my existing annotation summaries have lost all recognisable formatting. Highlights in the wrong places, text annotations pointing to the wrong text. Web Clipper - I'm not sure what's happened here but the web clipper, which used to be excellent and so much better than any competitors' solutions, is now formatting clipped content in strange and unexpected ways. What was a predictable behaviour is now a lottery. Creating a Table of Contents from multiple notes - No longer an option. Why not? I could go on (and frequently do). There are a host of curious design choices that other beta users have highlighted. I'm not quite so frustrated with those things. I can live with a quirky new way of doing something as long as it works. Why do I need to click twice on a link to open it? Who knows? It's a behaviour I'm not familiar with and seems like a curious design choice but I'm really only bothered that the link opens. TL;DR? Evernote is broken. At least, it doesn't work in a way that will allow me to keep using it without employing a lot of "workarounds". This is true of the iOS release too. (The issue about offline notebooks is well documented in the relevant forum, for example.) Having been with Evernote for 12 years, I was happy to contribute time to the Preview and Beta programmes. I liked Evernote. I encouraged friends to use it. I pestered work colleagues to download it. I don't expect to be making such encouraging noises in the future! I'm sure a huge amount of work has gone into making this new Evernote release. Perhaps this is simply a bumpy start to an exciting journey but it's not one that I'll be joining. I just want Evernote to be what it used to be, a reliable, robust 'second brain'. This release, sadly, is not a step forward.

  11. This sadly doesn't seem to be a new version of Evernote. It is an entirely different product that has access to our Evernote data in the cloud, but bears little resemblance in functionality to the Windows version of Evernote. So many features missing. This is worse than the iOS version, which, after being in the beta for a few weeks, opted out, installed Evernote 8.x from the App Store, then turned off automatic updates. So much is broken. No import folders? No global note shortcut keys? This is unusable to anyone that has used Evernote for over a decade. ☹️

  12. I totally agree with the previous post : I have been using the Evernote Mac version for the past 4 years, and tabs are an essential part of my workflow, tabs and the possibility to open multiple, fully fledged, Evernote windows. Having them disappear will have a negative impact on how I use Evernote on a daily, if not hourly, basis.

  13. I gave up trying v.10 and am back to previous v. 6.25.1.9091 (last stable version). I use Evernote for work, not for leisure. The poor design and missing features affect my workflow. I just can't afford it. The whole situation is a true lack of respect. This release is an unfinished project - and a poor one. I'll stick to the older version for now.

  14. The new version sucks. Evernote began to consume 3-4 times more memory (more than 1 GB with 4 notes open), which is why the application slows down. The old version consumes 200-300 MB for the same number of notes. Even in the worst of times, when everyone called Evernote "the slowed-down elephant," the notebook ran faster. Side panel! Seriously? I see only a few tags on the 13-inch display instead of 20 in the old version. Do you call this "making a spacious design"? The new panel was not created to work with information. Colored tags! They made it possible to work very quickly and productively with notes. Where is the color? Shortcuts! Do you know why they are needed? To always be in front of my eyes and help in my work. Why did you remove them? Why did you add a link to the source under the title? This is unnecessary visual rubbish. Hide it. 2\10 I am disappointed

  15. Evernote forces ALT-S shortcut for screenshot with no option to disable it. Alt-S is S-cedilla char in polish language on every single polish keyboard. Current Evernote 10 is NOT READY FOR POLISH MARKET. How to disable the shortcuts?

  16. Why why why would you change a perfectly good user interface and totally complicate it? This new version does not make it easier to create a note or to change the notebook for the note. It makes it harder. It requires more touches. There’s also a massive White space in the main note View. Who made these decisions? Why don’t you consult your user community before you did this? Evernote used to be the easiest app on my phone to use and now it is one of the most complicated. I hate the new version. In addition to this, as I have stated before, it’s absolutely unacceptable that you allow foreign devices in other countries to login to people’s account without a challenge if the evernote account owner has not enabled two factor authentication. You should never ever allow a foreign device in a foreign country to login without a challenge. Totally irresponsible and you are opening yourself up to a major lawsuit.

  17. I am using evernote for English and German content. My Windows operating system primary language is German. Since Evernote 10 it seems that only the system language is considered for spell checking. Now all English text are marked with the red line. For me it is not an option always to change the system language. Could you please bring back the multi-language spelling check option.

  18. Would it be possible for Evernote to provide a more comprehensive list of the features they have removed from the product in version 10? Are import folders coming back? Nowhere did it say that by upgrading, you would lose this important feature.

  20. PLEASE bring back custom fonts!! This was one of the many reasons why I love EVERNOTE . I LOVE Evernote but the lack of being able to choose a custom font on the new 10.0 Mac Desktop App is highly disappointing and frustrating!! Only having 6 fonts to choose from is SO archaic!! I can understand this update on the WEB version and even on the IOS versions but NOT on the desktop version!! I am a graphic designer and this is CRITICAL to my business!! One of the reasons I chose Evernote is because I had the freedom to choose my own fonts, colors, styles, formatting, etc. and I was able to import different file formats, audio, scans, handwritten notes, etc. This new update reminds me of an old archaic PC application with the lack of preferences and customizations. Ugh... And PLEASE fix the print margins!! SO much wasted paper if you ever want to print something... Also- we need to be able to export notes in other formats!! I would love to see an export option to .PDF, .TXT, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, .epub, etc. it would make EVERNOTE even more unique and functional. Yes, I can use other programs to convert my notes but having it built in would be AMAZING!! I am all for updates & improving but please don't take away things that make EVERNOTE the Awesome program that it is!!

  21. I have lots of lists using the old checkbox feature and I especially like that the text does not change to strike-through after checking the checkbox. After upgrading to v10.4.4, Evernote for Windows keeps automatically switching my check box lists to checklists and changes all text to strike-through for checked items. This happens anytime I press enter anywhere in any of the items on any line. It is impossible to add a new line anywhere - in the middle, at the end, ANYWHERE, without the list getting switched to a checklist. PLEASE allow us to disable this new "feature". I can understand how some people might like checklists and I may even use them too, but please do not automatically assume that every list I have needs to get switched to a checklist. If I start with a list of check boxes, keep it that way. When I press enter for a new line, I want a check box on the new line, not everything switched to checklist. If I create a checklist, then keep it a checklist - that's fine. Just do not automatically switch everything to checklists.

  22. I articulated this in the beta forums and am re-adding here to allow for voting up of the feature for those who agree with me. I very much dislike the added step of having to click a note link, then click the link again in the menu that appears. Adds all kinds of extra clicks to my workflow. I'm aware that Command+Click will open the link in a new window (and bypass the click on the drop down URL that appears). This is an ok workaround for external note links (out to the web, for example) but not at all what I'm after for internal note links (I don't want them to open in a new window, I want to go straight to the note inside Evernote). I want the efficiency back of single clicking on a note link and having it either: Immediately launch the external link Navigate to the note I'm internally linking to

  24. I've been a loyal user of Evernote for many years now, eschewing the Microsoft behemoth for some more open source alternates. Evernote was a bit of a compromise, but at least it wasn't MS. So I await new developments with interest. This last one seems to be a disaster. So far I have found the following issues with Evernote 10 that render it unsuitable for my use. I use Evernote as my journal/to do lists/note taking application to pretty much manage my life, and as such ease of use is important, as is customisation and personalisation. It is the application in which I spend most of my time. And it has been brilliant. So far, after an upgrade to version 10, I find the product sorely lacking for this and am seriously considering alternatives (for Windows and Android). Even to the point of test driving OneNote, Joplin, Notion and a couple of others. Key for me is the ability to use my own fonts within the app - while I know these will not convert on Android, I deal with that. Most of my time is spent in Windows. Right now I can't even change the default font from the half dozen that are available. So, in no particular order : 1) while you have moved the ability to delete/rename/edit the notebook to the second column, why not retain it on the first column anyway? I'll live with it, but even so... 2) there are no preferences available. So I can't change my data location (might be important), defaul font, or, indeed, anything. Evernote is no longer flexible or customisable. Critical. 3) You've limited the fonts available. I use my notebooks to reflect me (as notebooks) not just to record data or clippings. So the ability to personalise fonts is hugely important for me. Critical. 4) You've introduced 'Recent Notes' on the left but with no ability to hide it - so a bit of screen real estate that limits the number of notebooks I can see at once has gone. Same for shortcuts - why can't this go back where it could be - at the top. Highly desirable. 5) You've removed right click from the LH column, but kept the drag and drop behaviour that often resulted in a notebook being moved to a stack where I didn't want it. Missing a trick there - a confirmation would be helpful! I'll live with it 6) We've lost 'Print Preview' so now the only way to preview a note is to save as a PDF via PDF writer. Critical. 7) What's more we now have a fixed format of printed note.. what if I don't WANT the header on the note ( I rarely do, and I had this turned off in preferences)? Critical. 😎 You've added an extra click to the process of viewing an encrypted note. Since the most likely reason for viewing an encrypted note was simply to view it, not remove the encryption, this should have been dealt with a different way.Highly desirable 9) Once decrypted we can't just edit the note. We have to decrypt the lot, then reencrypt it. Really hecking irritating. This is beyond disastrous. This whole release has just messed up a good product without actually adding anything of value beyond the ability to choose highlighter colour (we can do this but not choose our font?). You've stripped out some of the ease of use features and the things I actually liked. The more I use it, the more I find things that are either missing or have been made worse. So. I've reverted to 'Legacy' (a tacit acknowledgement that some users are going to be less than happy). I'm currently investigating alternatives to EverNote and will be leaving the paid programme if I don't get some assurances that these things will be fixed. Knowing that this is as good as my primary day to day application is ever going to get is a real downer. [Apologies if this is in the wrong place but you've got a very dissatisfied paying customer here, and I am not alone]

  26. Dear Evernote Team, thank you for continuing to evolve my potentially most cherished piece of software. However, the new v10 I just installed is annoyingly hard to use, because all interactions are so slow: Clicking on anything is no longer snappy like in typical desktop apps, but rather a slow and laggy experience, and I see the dreaded spinning wheel everywhere, e.g., just by switching between notes. Luckily we can roll back to the v7 client for now, but I hope this can be solved and the UI made fluid and usable, as this version of Evernote is, I am sorry to say, 100% unusable to me. Looking forward to a version that is lag-free!

  27. I'm as pissed as everyone else, and really angry at Evernote for putting out this version without FULL details (surely they must have expected this blow-back), BUT, now that they have their 2 years worth of work leveling out the playing field across all platforms, which is what they said their intention was, I'm still willing to hang around for a bit and wait for all the missing features to be implemented. I mean at the end of the day, their BIG mistake was to put this out now instead of waiting until all they implemented all the features. So I'll hang on the older version and give them a bit of time to do their work. Yes, the screwed up big time with this, but it really was just an error of releasing too early. At least that's what I hope.

  28. Hi. First comment - you may want to change the tag line for this section: "If you have feedback related to the older version of Evernote for Windows, post here!" (my emphasis) - I think you mean the new one? Some questions arise before I update my current version 6.25... Is there a "step back" option? - i.e. once updated would I be able to revert to my 6.25 version if the new app is not performing well? Local (unsynced) notes are no longer supported - do you still store local copies of the notes synced with the server database? I ask because I use Backupery's app to export my notes to ENEX on a daily basis and I'd like to continue to do so after updating. For anyone wary of updating to the new version - how long do you forsee support for legacy versions continuing? Will there still be bug fixes and updates for those versions? Presentation Mode is something which is very useful for academic users - is there any prospect of this coming back / some sort of integration with a presentation app? Another service I use is Postach.io - will that app continue to be able to convert my notes to a blog? I can work around the Outlook Clipper no longer being supported (there's still email!) but the list of unsupported features in the help page says (again my emphasis) Can we expect an exhaustive list of 'no longer supported' features anytime soon?

  29. +1 --- equally, if not more, important would be the ability to open multiple Evernote windows. This was a feature in Mac well before the "tabs" feature was implemented years ago, and it is definitely frustrating to not be able to open two instances of the window on Mac, especially with multiple monitors and MacOS "spaces". Really hoping this comes back together with tabs

  30. Dear Evernote Dev Team, I am an long-time Evernote Premium user, fan and advocate. It is part of my daily workflow, for hours per day I might add. You guys have done a wonderful job with this product and my hat goes off to you... However, this feature would be HUGE to me, and apparently many others. PLEASE consider adding this feature sooner than later. As mentioned, I am loyal but I have begun to research alternatives that would offer this feature. I really don't want to switch though. just being honest You guys rock!!! Best Regards, Craig

  31. On iOS client 10.0.3 (1104765) (just like in previous 10.x as well) it is very slow to start the client on iPad Pro. It takes some 10 seconds before I'm able to do anything useful. During that time some of the touch gestures tries to go through but not correctly. Basically the current 10.x series has ruined the user experience due to the enormous delays in various places while trying to use the app. Feel free to like this if you have the same comments, or post constructive hints how to get rid of the problem. Thanks! Update on 4th of November 2020: now at version 10.1, still the same problems. Markku

  32. I agree that it's time to start looking at alternative options to Evernote. The Evernote management is utterly clueless and if they're happy to release a beta release to the public that is objectively worse than the previous version, then there is no reason to hold out confidence and remain with this product.

  33. I think it's obvious, at this point, that Evernote users want the ability to select the default thumbnail for notes. I agree that it seems ridiculous that this conversation started in 2013 and 4 years later this hasn't been added to the application. As a visual person, the thumbnail helps me quickly find what I'm looking for. For example, when I'm looking for a recipe for pancakes, an image of the video (pertaining to the recipe) of two cooks doesn't help me find what I'm looking for. I need to be able to select the pic of the stack of pancakes. The whole purpose for using Evernote is to be able to organize things so that they are easily found/accessed. I'm confused why this isn't already an option. This seems so simple to implement. Can we get some love on this issue?!

  34. This new version of Evernote, released only days after iOS14 came out (I ran betas of iOS14 before the main release) seems to be a disaster. Once again, they seem to be unable to get it right before a major release (this has been the case for years - I've been a Premium subscriber almost from the beginning of Evernote). Either their beta testers just don't pick up these bugs, or the coders don't fix them. And once again, they change stuff for the sake of changing it - like the Clipper, which now doesn't seem to work at all. See separate thread on Saving to Evernote from iOS. Mine simply doesn't work. No clipped note. Zero. And this is a disaster for me as I source information from both the web browser (Safari) and Flipboard constantly. I can't do that with this new version on iOS14. I don't know if the problem is Evernote, or iOS14, or most likely both together. But iOS14 has been in the works for months, with lots of beta testers, so I can't imagine that the Evernote coding team didn't have access to iOS14. So - how can I downgrade my iOS Evernote back to the previous version, which worked just fine?

  36. It's good to see an acknowledgement that things are not all hunky dory, particularly amongst Evernote power user base (which I have to imagine makes up a significant portion of the paying subscribers). Overall it's a fine platform update, but I did find the below section on the beta program to be both disingenuous and a missed opportunity in the overall communication @Ian Small: As has been extensively reported on these and other public forums, dozens (if not hundreds) of issues were reported by beta participants, never acknowledged by Evernote staff, and shipped "as is" in the production versions. Now, I am aware that software is never perfect - no software program of any complexity would ever ship if every known bug has to be squashed first. But, if you run a half-hearted beta program, you're going to get half-hearted results. With close to zero communication to beta participants, what incentive is there for beta users to write up detailed bug reports? For free? Some apps offer beta users paid access to the product in exchange for the time consuming prospect of testing, writing reproducible bug reports, filling out questionnaires, and so on. Without the offer of free product, the reward for beta users is the communication with and acknowledgement of issues by Evernote staff. This is the currency that drives a beta program. Without ongoing and regular engagement with beta users, participants quickly realize that providing feedback is as useful as trying to nail Jell-O to the wall, and it should surprise no one when product quality suffers as a result.

  39. Where the heck have you hidden keyboard shortcut settings?! Turning all them off was the first thing many users did! NEVER use a modifier key Alt Gr (the right Alt key, which emulates Ctrl+Alt combination) as a "normal" modifier (like CTRL, SHIFT of left ALT). This combination is used exclusively in several keyboard layouts to change them to national characters, especially in slavic languages with "programmer layout" (like Polish, Latvian, Romanian, etc.) - the most popular layouts in our countries. The most painful combination is AltGr+S (which is Alt+Ctrl+S): Alt + s shortcut in polish Windows 10 (10.2.4) Additionally never add or modify system-wide keyboard shortcuts without asking the user! As for now people in Poland are unable to use Evernote! Evernote! What have you done!?...

  40. Until the new recent release you could add a shortcut to a note to your Android home screen. You took away that feature. I used it a lot. Pleaser bring it back.

  41. UPDATE (12/16): we've released a patch (v10.5.7) to address a few concerning bugs in 10.5.6. You should be see this update soon in the Mac App Store. If you are already running the direct download version, you will see an automatic update sometime soon as we progressively roll out the update and do not need to take any action. ----------------------------- Hello! Today we are releasing Evernote for Mac 10.5.6 (v 10.5.6 build 2168). This is a big release, with lots of improvements both under the hood and functionality-wise. Below the release notes I’ve included slightly deeper descriptions for some of the functionality new to this release. Additionally, we’ve also added a new item to “coming soon”: email a note while sharing. It is available now via the Mac App Store and as a direct download version from our website. If you are already running the direct download version, you will see an automatic update sometime soon as we progressively roll out the update and do not need to take any action. New to Mac 10.5 - Access the keyboard shortcuts reference menu via the Help menu or by using the shortcut CMD + / Keyboard shortcut for creating a tag and an application menu entry point Tags can now be created in the edit tags pop-up menu Performance improvements for note loading, the sidebar, and attaching files Log files can be zipped and the smaller file size allows for easier emailing of logs to our support team Toggle on/off the recent notes section in the left nav Navigating the note list with your arrow keys is now more seamless and loads the editor automatically. Hitting enter takes you into the note. Hitting cmd + enter opens the note in a new window. Navigate to the top/bottom of the note list with the function + down/up arrow keys New note merge options added: separate note content with a divider or keep original note titles When you merge notes, the original notes are automatically placed in the trash unless you select "Keep copy of original notes" Tags are now a whole, scrollable part of the left navigation menu (not the scroll within a scroll) “Located in” filter is now available from the filter menu in All Notes Fixed highlights: Delay when copying an internal link Some keyboard shortcuts would not work when the note editor is selected Users now receive email notifications immediately when a note is shared with them Coming soon: Email a copy of a note via the share button Quickly search and move to different note using a keyboard shortcut (CMD+J) Create new audio recordings and playback audio file Dragging and dropping note links directly into your note Global keyboard shortcuts Additional export options Import folder Let us know what you think and we appreciate the continued feedback. We will keep hard at work! Thank you! -------- The keyboard shortcuts menu With Evernote V10 we’ve heard a lot of great feedback regarding missing or changed keyboard shortcuts. We still have some work to do here and will continue to add new shortcuts. To help with both discovery of new and old shortcuts, we’ve added a keyboard shortcuts menu (available in 10.5 via CMD + /). Our goal with the menu was to improve discoverability and in particular enable the opportunity for experimentation with the keystrokes that are available. Additionally we aimed to highlight the inline capabilities of the editor--you can find those in the last section of the keyboard shortcuts menu. Please try it out and experiment in the ways you can use V10's keyboard shortcuts. Merging just got better With V10 we enhanced merging by enabling you to reorder and selectively pick from merged notes. With this latest version we’ve enabled the ability to select optional line breaks and titling within the merge, as well as add a unique title to your merged note. This means for a cleaner merge experience that you can tailor a bit more closely to your liking. Additional ways to create tags We’ve been taking a close look at how we can improve the whole tagging experience for customers who work heavily with them. Making it easier to create tags with a keyboard shortcut, application menu option, and adding create tag to type ahead suggestions in the edit tags menu is a start. More to come.

  42. Please, please restore the manual sync button. I have had enough sad experiences of changes not syncing properly across my laptop, desktop and mobile phone. Like many users, I switch between devices frequently. Having a sync button that gives users confidence that everything is synced upon starting up or closing down an instance of Evernote is a no-brainer. I'm sure your rationale for removing the button is "our new version is so stable and smart now, we don't need it, just trust us, it'll always work." If so, there's no cost to showing users a *confirmation* that it has worked. Please.

  43. It is a bit annoying for non-English speakers to see the red line below every word. So please add this option.

  44. Am I the only one who finds the lack of comment/explanation from Evernote Engineering on this topic to be frustrating? This topic has been raised and documented repeatedly by many users, both during the Preview program and the Beta program. To the best of my knowledge Evernote Engineering has never provided any explanation or comment other than this statement: Where did the sync button go? Evernote has a completely new sync architecture and now syncs automatically across all of your devices. We don't know whether this is a feature that will be implemented in the future or whether it has been deliberately dropped from the product plan. Given that the presence of a Sync button is a feature of the previous existing product and that multi-device synchronization is fundamentally critical to the Evernote concept, I find it amazing that the issue has been completely ignored. It is also interesting to note that Evernote for IOS does contain an explicit "Sync" function. We're listening, Evernote Engineering. Please talk to us!!! We either need an assurance that this feature will be added or we need a more fundamental explanation of how Sync is implemented so that we understand why a Sync button is either impossible or unnecessary. Until that happens, many in your user base will be frustrated. Gary Hicks

  45. I love Evernote, but it's preventing me from putting in sensitive content. For example, I can't keep a personal journal notebook, because other people (i.e. girlfriend, family members, etc.) could one day be looking at those notes, especially since they know that I use Evernote often for many purposes. Evernote already has the ability to encrypt single notes. This is useful for things like storing passwords or other temporary sensitive content. But it's not practical to encrypt many notes one by one. I wish I could password-protect a whole notebook. This way, I can do a lot more with Evernote. If I can encrypt single notes, then why can't Evernote just allow me to encrypt entire notebooks? If reason behind this is because Evernote thinks one could lose a lot of data if a notebook password is forgotten, then perhaps Evernote can help recover the passwords through email. In the meantime, I'm stuck with using other apps (i.e. Pages, Day One, etc) to password-protect my content. Any insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  46. The new Evernote sucks. A simple request: bring back the old one. I don't see one single advantage of the new Evernote over the old one. Not one. This is a very simple request: bring back the old version.

  47. I keep track of projects in Evernote with a few notes about what the status of the project is. To do this I made links to the project folders to quickly view the files inside of them. In the V6.25 I could simply create a hyperlink with the file:// extension and it would pop out the file or folder. I would love to see this feature come back to the V10 version of Evernote.

  48. 'sync' seems to have disappeared as a functional concept. The UI now reports 'all changes saved' when it has done so after you make edits on the Mac, but there is no way to force it to sync if you know changes have happened on the notes from other devices. It seems to happen on a 10-20 second polling cycle so what am i meant to do... esp when i open up the mac for the first time in the morning, just leave it for a while and wait? How hard could it be, genuinely, to design it in such a way as to push the changes to other devices, rather than force them all to poll the server infrequently... record changes from the last device, and then when another device checks in and it wasn't the last device to have edited, it just pulls all the edits. It was easy enough to create sync conflicts on the previous version... imagine it's even easier now.

  49. It would be great to be able to add subtasks under a task... since they display similar to a bullet item or check list item, it kept feeling like I should be able to indent the task so that it falls under another one. It would also be great to be able to fill out a few tasks so that they are cascading where completing one makes the next one in the list now ready to do.

  50. I frequently email my notes. Not share the link to my notes, but email my complete note. That feature had already been eliminated from the web version of Evernote, and it has now disappeared from the new iOS version. Is that a bug? Emailing notes is an important part of my work process, and if Evernote is going to eliminate that feature and rely exclusively on sharing notes, then I’ll have to reconsider whether I want to remain a paying customer, after many years of doing so (since May 2010, according to my profile). Of course, this is on top of other issues with the new version of Evernote for iOS, including the formatting bugs, the elimination of the last used notebooks, the three colorful and “helpful” buttons for upgrade (bright yellow), edit (bright blue), and new note (bright green) (more distracting than anything helpful), the difficulties selecting a note (touching it on the left-hand side menu and not being selected). Going for a more “modern” look at the expense of functionality doesn’t seem to be a great move...
