Hi there everyone, thanks for mentioning this. Here are the details about the updates containing the fix for YouTube pages not loading Clipper depending on your browser of choice: If you prefer Chrome or Edge, the updated version containing the fix is 7.12.8.41. If you prefer Safari, the updated version containing the fix is 7.12.7.40. The version number is different from Chrome and Edge, but functionally the same release. If you prefer Firefox, this is currently still on 7.12.5.42 and does not contain the fix yet. Additional unrelated changes are necessary for Firefox and we're working on getting this updated and released as soon as possible, but no estimate at this time. If you use Firefox and need to clip a YouTube page, while not ideal, please use another browser in the meantime to work around the issue. Thank you!

A contrarian view. I don't think EN is the place for things like grocery lists, particularly if you share the list with someone. Just not as easy as a standalone app. Our household started with Wunderlist and morphed to Microsoft To Do. One shared list, maintainable from about any platform, press the square box and the item drops off the list. EN works fine for single item purchase stuff. And I do use EN for all my to do items using the reminder functionality. Over 2,000 notes have had or currently have a reminder at this point. That bit works well for my use case, but not grocery lists.

This merging feature really needs to be implemented on iOS it is fundamental. I have been a dedicated Evernote paid user Since 2010, I have wanted this feature since I started. At first I thought I was just missing how to do it on iOS, I could not believe it was not possible. So I have been living with the situation. This is the first time I have been on this forum in a long time and I scanned this thread and just shaking my head. Please get this done, it’s clearly needed. Thanks, Dave

That would be my opinion; the forum is designed to discuss the Evernote product/service We should stay on topic

I acknowledge that Evernote's user forum isn't designed to house discussions on racism and privilege, but I also can't be silent about something as important as this. In my opinion, it's lunacy in this day and age that every single company and person hasn't taken a stance against racism and white supremacy. What Ian did in this video is the bare minimum that anybody with a voice should be doing right now. Additionally, I am assuming that your intention behind "couldn't care less what colour or creed someone is" was well-meaning and designed to communicate that someone's race/ethnicity doesn't bother you. However, I want to share that these sentiments often contribute towards systemic racism or—in the very least—the privilege some groups have over others (even though that wasn't your intention, I assume). Not caring (or "not seeing") race/ethnicity is a way of dismissing part of someone's identity, suggesting their experiences aren't valued, refusing to acknowledge your own privilege, and often shutting down further conversations about racial injustice. In most parts of the world—and definitely in the United States, where Evernote is based—systematic racism is rampant; as a result, we must care if we want to move towards a more just and equitable society.

I'm also on v. 6.15 now, and I can confirm this. Specifically: The Windows program can produce 2 different types of link: evernote.com/shard..., and evernote:///view.... The former links open properly in the Web beta, although in a new tab for some reason. It is the latter type of link that still opens first to the top note in the notebook rather than to the linked note; going back to the link and clicking again will send it to the proper note. Based on exactly 1 test, so FWIW.

Hi all, I've updated FF to 78.0.2 but I continue to have the issue so I did some additional investigations The problem seems related to the cache, with the firefox developer toolbar enable it worked because it had set the 'disable cache' option, if I turn off that settings it doesn't work, with a fast check of the http requests the problem seems related to an ajax POST to https://www.evernote.com/Login.action, with the cache disabled the request has the headers { "name": "Pragma", "value": "no-cache" }, { "name": "Cache-Control", "value": "no-cache" } and all works smoothly (response 200 OK), without those headers the response it's the error 418 (I don't ever know it exists ) so it seems a race condition that generates a bug on the evernote server

The easiest way to make a full reinstall is to use an app like AppCleaner. First make sure all of your notes are fully synced (if you can still get access to your EN app). You start AppCleaner and pull the icon of the App you want to delete on the AppCleaner window. It now finds all elements of the app to purge, and makes a list. Some items are checked and will be deleted by default. Others are listed, but not checked. To delete them as well they need to be checked manually. With EN the list is longer than the window, so you have to scroll down while checking all items in the list. The database is among the unchecked items. When ALL items in the list are checked, hit uninstall, and they will all be deleted. This means as well all local notebooks will be deleted, so if you have any, make a backup before using AppCleaner ! After uninstalling this way, you can reinstall EN. Use the version from the EN Website, not from the AppStore. Reinstall, log in, and then wait for the new install to download all of your notes from the EN server. By this, you avoid having any corrupted data left over on your Mac that will interfere with the freshly installed EN app. The app AppCleaner is available for free from the internet.

Hi All, Today we’re following up Ian’s latest blog post with an update to our Behind the Scenes series where we go into greater detail about the work being done to move our rebuilt apps from Preview status to Beta release. We knew this video would be different—for one thing, we had to shoot and edit it from our homes as we continue to deal with COVID-19 pandemic. What we could not know was that in the days leading up to recording, long-simmering issues of systemic racism would come to the forefront of our social conscious, eclipsing even COVID-19 as matters of urgency and action. We chose to hold on to this video until we could publicly acknowledge the realities of the world around us. We're pleased to be able to share it with you now—it’s a valuable conversation if you want to know how we’re progressing with the new clients. And finally, one tidbit of good news: in the days since we recorded the video, our new iOS app has moved out of Preview and into Beta release. Enjoy! If you have any questions/feedback, please feel free to start a thread or reach out to me directly!

If you need to get rid of some space used by EN, here some tips: Empty the trash. It is not counted in most counts, but is still taking up space in the data base. Hint: When you empty the trash, all content will be permanently deleted. Don't use EN to organize stuff that is better organized by other apps. Examples are media files of all types: Pictures, video, music. Reflect on whether you really need all stuff like pdfs in full resolution. Most is completely readable with medium res as well. If you need to set up sort of an archive, open a second EN user. Put it to Premium for a short time, move everything you want to archive to this user (10GB allowance per month), then fall back to Basic with this user. Only use the web client to access these notes in the future, or share them selectively to the Premium account when needing them.

I've said this before. In the times when every cloud provider has indexed search and image OCR, and there's plenty of standalone apps like DocFetcher for those concerned with privacy, using a dedicated, proprietary wrapper for your data (be it Evernote, Onenote, Joplin etc.) does not make sense… at least to me. 90% of my data is in file folders on Onedrive (only using it because I am paying for Office365). 5% of the data I consider sensitive is in an encrypted volume with its own encrypted search index. The remaining 5% are short-term notes - and here's where programs like Evernote or Onenote come in handy. With generous use of plaintext tags, and common file formats (docx, xlsx, pdf) I can get most of functionality of Evernote (some is missing, some is gained) without ever having to worry about losing access, losing service, moving to another service, backups, sharing with others, encryption, compatibility, etc. Evernote / Onenote / whatever are great for capturing data and maintaining "live" notes, but for long term storage, it is exported into an indexed online folder as a common file type.

Hi, the page is blank forever also because clicking on the 'Continue' button is only going to show the password field using some javascript after an ajax request to check the sign-in settings of the users, it doesn't load a new page. Anyhow thanks for your suggested workarounds, at the moment I'm just enabling the developer toolbar of firefox so the problem disappears (note: the login page loading is sudden as before I have had this problem)

In fact Business is no upgrade for a person. To use Business, you need a group of persons (not necessarily employees of a Business), an admin to set it up and maintain - and a use case for it. Business means setting up compartments for information access, and some information flow, like in an order process. In general all processes a small or medium company runs can be projected on a Business setup. With Premium you are already in the personal not-upgradable class 😀

Seems like sometimes waiting does pay off. Thank you for allowing me to save directly to the camera roll again in Scannable. 😃 I love the app but never understood why you forced me to save to Evernote first, then allow saving to camera roll - sometimes I just wanted to save and email and not have it in Evernote. Thanks for restoring the original functionality - much appreciated!

That's a known problem with note links As you discovered, the links are coded with the note-id of the original note evernote:///view/1156250/s10/ee54e6a3-dd90-4b0f-8196-72b0b6868776/ee54e6a3-dd90-4b0f-8196-72b0b6868776/ but the note-id gets lost when copying/merging/importing I make a practice of appendIng the note-id to note contents. Id: [ee54e6a3-dd90-4b0f-8196-72b0b6868776] This allows me to use text search to resolve broken links

The short answer:On the iPad use the split screen to avoid switching. The long one: My guess is the app has become too big over time and takes up too much memory. I wonder if it would help actually removing all the local notes as removing that index FROM memory. The problem is not easily fixed. IOS memory management must have changed over time. How would you go about making an app lean when all of the pieces are being used? Rewrite is expensive and time-consuming. As we all know Evernote has accumulated a lot of technical debt over the years due to mismanagement. Instead of removing they kept on adding across all of the platforms to drive sales. That can only go so long. That’s what happens when you have a sales / mba guy running a startup company. It stops being a startup and develops antibodies to innovation. The new CEO seems to get it. Evernote maintained multiple versions of the same thing across all of the platforms. There was and still is feature fragmentation. The engineering team is now paying for it and sales are going down due to competition external innovation. At some point the whole thing could implode, but I really hope it doesn’t. Evernote is an OK family of products that I hope one day becomes an awesome product once again. The native experience is still the key but users are now also demanding a web experience too. Luckily they have fixed the backend six months ago. That was really ageing based on my customer experience. There is a beta program and the fix in the works. I think the fix is somewhere between a preview and a beta

Thanks for taking time to reply gazumped and your suggestions. I was also happy to learn this is a "known problem" and not something unique to my situation. It's really confusing to see that permission has been removed for these notebooks, however they still appear in the shared section. I tried all the suggestions mentioned but unfortunately the issue STILL exists. The notebooks appear in the Shared with Me section and they receive you don't have access to this, which shows permission has been removed. But I still can NOT figure out why they continue to appear on the list in the shared section. This really defeats the purpose of sharing a notebook, why do this when the other person still sees information they no longer need. I appreciate any additional thoughts or suggestions it would be great to resolve this issue.

I would love to be able to move tags in the left hand panel to other parent tags without specifically clicking the tag menu and moving out of the "main" menu. I don't understand why that's not a feature. It saves clicks and would save me time. Unless perhaps that would be something people would not want and cause confusion in case of accidental drag and drop. Maybe a quick pop up link in a corner of screen after dragging and dropping that says "made a mistake, click to undo" that disappears after 5 secs like in gmail mobile app when you swipe to archive/delete. just a thought. Let me know what you guys think!

Ahh yes, that's it. I tried a note with a multi-page PDF attached, and the browser's print preview shows only the first page of the PDF. That's with the PDF viewed as "Page-Through Preview." If it is viewed only as an attachment, of course only the attachment icon will be printed. But if I select "Full Preview", then the first two pages are printed, while the following pages show only a frame, even though they are fully visible in the note. This is with Opera; other browsers may work differently. So, @Jennifer McCarty Charette: if you click on the gray border at the top of the PDF in the note, there's a 3-dot menu, and clicking that should offer the option of "Full Preview." Depending on the length of the PDF and perhaps on your browser, you may get it to be printable, along with the rest of the note, using that.

Consider this; don't use a single list. I keep a notebook call purchases. In it is a note for each item I am considering purchasing. I will compare websites for an item and where I could get the best deal. I'll put links to the item in the note. I also use the tags to tag the store where I would purchase them. Or I may just clip the page and put it in that note so I know the store sku number and maybe the aisle its in. If I am in the area of a store, I search for that tag to see if there was something I wanted to purchase there. Consequently, I also have a shortcut on my phone that allows me to quickly add an item to that notebook of something that I need to purchase later or research for purchase. (Really useful since I have a child headed to college) Otherwise, you could look at any EN or non-EN shopping list and replicate it in EN easily.

I've been a payed up member for 3-4 years and a user since 2013. Recent issues with: table highlighting between browser and windows client loss of highlighting in code blocks loss of code blocks in tables combined with functionality i've been craving for ages which have been a constant frustration Linux Client markdown more code block functionality deeper nested notebooks I'm struggling to stay, i've been so patient. you're so close to being the ideal solution for me, yet you're missing the mark. Evernote could be a killer app! It's been nearly a year since Ian promised big changes, i know the back end has been upgraded but I've not seen much UI functionality change (except templates) are we nearly there yet? What features are coming? what is the road map? timeline? Only 485K forum posts since the forum refresh implies your customer base is not very active or shrinking are you going to survive the competition from other vendors? If you don't what happens to all my data!? Joplin is starting to look like a good alternative. Convince me to stay i have nearly 1000 notes with detailed information, it would take me some time to make a switch.

It does seem like this ought to exist, maybe as a pinned note in this forum. Although the release notes on the Android app are so pathetic they might was well not exist, so I wouldn't be too hopeful of something useful. They seem to be putting out minor updates pretty frequently these days (it's up to 6.14 in Opera for me), always without notification, here or elsewhere.

I love the 'Save as Template' option for notes that I have to repeatedly create. While I've found it to be a bit frustrating that you cannot edit a template once it's created, I've recently discovered another issue. Apparently there is a limit of 20 templates that we can create? What is the reason for the limit here? I'm sure there are others who regularly use more than 20 templates. I understand that I can have an entire notebook for templates (I already have that for ones that I don't use on a weekly basis). Thanks!

Indeed. I am staying for the wrong reasons - too hard to move to something else and no decent alternative (because I exploit quite a lot of Evernote's functionality). In no way because of user delight. Evernote may say that's fine, but without delighting users their future will slowly taper off into the sunset. See my thread on sync sloppiness here also.

Does evernote actually reply to any of these. I can't see one official update. At least a heads up. Seems a bit unusual style of customer service. I so need this. Have been writing on screens for 8 years, moved from ipad to windows and have a Samsung Galaxy tab pro. The Windows version of evernote really needs proper writing functionality. It's just a ticket to the game these days and not just a 'nice to have'. Sure this must be on the radar? What are your plans for the android and windows? I have started using Onenote purely because of the writing. Shame.

I've been using Dark Mode on my MBP since installing Mojave. It has worked well until Evernote introduced it because in Dark Mode it is nearly impossible to see highlighted text. I'd like to keep Dark Mode on in System Preferences, but not use it in Evernote.

Hi All, You may have noticed that all threads requesting an Evernote integration with Grammarly have been merged into this thread, regardless of platform specificity. This was done in order to better enable us to quantify and qualify user requests, and amplify their voice. While this does not mean this is a feature that will be coming, we certainly want to relay user feedback/sentiment to our various teams. Moving forward, please put all commentary and votes for an Evernote/Grammarly integration here!

Hi there, it sounds like in this case you may be looking to add additional table rows and columns to the note from your Android device, correct? If so, this issue resides more around the table in the saved template, rather than the template itself. As it happens, it is currently not a feature to add/remove table rows and columns on mobile devices. This would have to be done from a desktop computer. From a mobile device you can add text and content to a table in a note, but not alter the structure of the table itself. However, I absolutely see how this limits the usability of templates that contain tables you would like to use on mobile devices. I will relay this to our development team for further consideration.

Merging notes on iOS is indeed not yet available, but I definitely understand why it would be a useful addition, especially on iPad/iPad Pro. I'm moving this to the 'Feedback' section to enable the voting feature.
