  1. Hi all, new on the forums but I've been using EN since 2012. The duplicate note thing is still happening and it's clearly related to mobile devices or PCs being used via hotspots. The latest iteration for me happens via the android app. Which keeps gets updates and the issue still happened again yesterday. This is inexcusable at this point. EN was a great idea done well from the start and it convinced me to quell some of my concerns about cloud services. Which still remain BTW. But a series of famously poor management decisions made me realize the organization had issues. For weeks EN was on the front page of every tech site with stories about their terrible decisions... followed by stories about "The best Evernote alternatives" and "How to migrate your Evernote life to X" etc. For this to still be an issue in 2021, and despite the super regular app updates... it's overdue for regulation to oversee issues and to seize and return app subscription money until such things are fixed. Once an app becomes a critical part of people's lives, a tremendous sign of it's merits, greater obligations from the app provider then occur. Like power and water companies have service obligations. I'm know my first post is a bit of rant but I want EN to see this directly before it goes onto reddit etc.

  4. Thank you Monirom. Like you, I used to be just as excited about Evernote in the past. It was one of my “go to” apps across desktop, laptop, phone, iPad and browsers. Now I’m so frustrated and feel so let down by the bugs and lack of support. I wish Evernote had its old simple user interface and worked! Now it’s “flashy” (which I don’t care) and does NOT work for me. I’ve been looking for a better tool and will consider Notion! BTW does Notion do ACR from scanned documents, photos and handwritten notes?

  5. I’ve been using Notion since October 2020 and love it. When you realize its power (Notion’s) extend beyond taking notes you’ll be blown away. Take the personal pro plan for a spin. Its free and the only limits are size of uploads (5mb) and #of people you can collaborate with (5 max) - though you can share anything to the public. … You can upgrade to Personal Pro at anytime (plans are only $47 annually - if you do everything in the tutorial you get discounts/credits) There are also Team and Enterprise plans. (The kicker is how you can roll pages into tables/lists that can be searched/filtered/sorted - essentially turning your work into a database. And once they are collected you can apply a myriad of views/ways to consume your content as galleries, tables, lists, project boards, calendars and timelines - all without having to manipulate your documents.) … NOTICE how I’m shamelessly evangelizing? This is what I used to do for Evernote. Its that level of excitement that grabbed me after the aha! moment with Notion. And yes theres a web clipper, desktop app, browser app, and mobile apps. … Take a look at this proof of concept I created with notion for articles I clip. (See bit.ly link at end of my comment.) Take a look at the carat next to the Gallery View label - you’ll see a dropdown allowing you to switch between Gallery and Table Views. And yes this article archive is “pretty” AND comes from a pre-existing template. But you can make your own experiences as threadbare or gilded as you like. (Oh did I mention if you have a work AND personal account you can switch between the two secure spaces without having to log out/back in?) … And yes, they do have an import path for evernote. Its not perfect but good enough for my purposes *import path wont cuttently pull in images/rich media. (It used to) ALSO Notion doesn’t have an offline mode. … https://bit.ly/bdg-media-2021

  6. Monirom, Thank you for this response. I’ve been a loyal EN user for seven years now and had recommended the tool to a dozen other users. I’m about done trying to debug and workaround this duplicate file issue. Have you found an alternative to EN that is reliable with a similar feature set?

  7. After using 10 for a month then going back to legacy... wow... what a difference. Back to it being my favorite note app. Instantly starts and the UI is responsive. It's back to being convenient and not slowing me down. BTW, I am NOT a power user. Other than text and a few pictures, I don't use most features. I only have about 20 notebooks and only two of them have double-digit notes in them (still only about 20-25 notes in those). All on a Samsung M.2 SSD and an internet connection suitable for my kids to not complain when gaming. So this is not a size or hardware issue in any way. After 25 years years developing software and managing SW teams, I've seen it before. Someone had a great idea that will make maintaining all the platforms easier and "give the user this new amazing experience that the biz dev/marketing team says we need! We just gotta start from scratch and can't just refactor the old great stuff. Trust me! It will be worth it in 5 years!" Sometimes you just gotta eat the sunk cost, throw it away and fire a few people before you're out of business.

  8. Feature Request: Add Outlining Capabilities to Evernote Evernote is great, but it's dying for the ability to create Notes that contain Outlines which are easily collapsed and expanded during creation and in use. One way to implement it would be a switchable editing mode, between standard formatting or outline mode. In outline mode, pressing the Enter key creates a new outline item, and pressing the Tab key changes the current item into a sub-item. Clicking on an item's action icon causes its sub-items to collapse out of, or expand into view. That's the way the Ecco Pro PIM did it, and something simple like that would be a good start for Evernote. The name Evernote implies a product that takes notes -and collapsible/expandable outlines are a huge part of note taking.

  9. Good question. I decided to try it for just one professional project, the reason being the complaints of my co-workers who were staring at the spinning wheel in Evernote way too long. So I did not make the complete switch yet (I have +38 400 notes) and I would advise to go slowly. But it is very close to Evernote in features (with some added bonus). For the time being, I think Evernote Legacy is still unbeatable. And I think Evernote in Android is not that bad. But Nimbus... you know... it just works well. You try a feature and... ta-dam... it works.

  10. I found plenty of article and tutorials on table of content. But they all seem to only consider it for many notes. I would link the table of contents to be in one note only. Anyone know if thats possible?

  11. Geographical search is now a feature of the professional tier. I assume this tier will display the information as well as allow you to search for it but I don't know. The information is still in the enex file if you download it and the traditional search grammar method of searching for it still works. I agree that hiding the data from me is just petty even if they don't want me to use their new geographical search method.

  12. The new Evernote sucks. A simple request: bring back the old one. I don't see one single advantage of the new Evernote over the old one. Not one. This is a very simple request: bring back the old version.

  13. The Evernote geolocation features have been gradually wound back over the last 10 (?) years. Does anyone remember the maps with pin locating note creation points? I have extensively used these features since their introduction and deem location notes to be an essential part of modern data collection (duh) e.g. if you capture a photo into Evernote, don't you expect to be able to see the location in the note? They are also an important part of recall e.g. how to I find the note that I took while working in Timbuktu? I have manually updated the locations for many years and needless to say, the final demise of the geo-location meta-data visibility in version 10 is crushing. You would think that geolocation would be one feature differentiator to OneNote. Perhaps the cost of Google Maps services has become too dear for the Evernote, which seems to cost more and delivery less useful functionality every year (whilst removing "legacy" maintenance responsibilities)? Sorry for the rant but I think I have been around long enough to deserve a bit of a soapbox. I am just waiting for an opportunity to find some time to jump to a more sailable ship.

  14. It also does not show in Windows or on the web (although it is still showing in Android). I just want to emphasise how important the location information is, even if I cannot view all my notes on a map any more or sort by location. I used Evernote to take notes during fieldwork, and the locations I stored in the location field are where I took samples from. That location data is crucial for my research. I understand that fancy features using the location data may not be high on your list of priorities; however, removing data I thought was safe in Evernote is not good. If I have to manually copy and paste the coordinates into a separate mapping program (e.g., Google Maps) that would be fine, but right now I can't even do that.

  15. Hi All, You may have noticed that all threads requesting the ability to use text collapse/outlining have been merged into this thread, regardless of platform specificity. This was done in order to better enable us to quantify and qualify user requests, and amplify their voice. While this does not mean this is a feature that will be coming, we certainly want to relay user feedback/sentiment to our various teams. Moving forward, please put all commentary and votes for the ability to use text collapse/outlining here!

  16. Dear Evernote Dev Team, I am an long-time Evernote Premium user, fan and advocate. It is part of my daily workflow, for hours per day I might add. You guys have done a wonderful job with this product and my hat goes off to you... However, this feature would be HUGE to me, and apparently many others. PLEASE consider adding this feature sooner than later. As mentioned, I am loyal but I have begun to research alternatives that would offer this feature. I really don't want to switch though. just being honest You guys rock!!! Best Regards, Craig

  17. Feature Request: I dont know where to submit feaure requests, so i sent it through here. Evernote's notetaking capabilitites are amazing and versatile. Within the text note, users can create outlines with the bullet feature. I would like to see a new feature where after users create bullets, indented bullets, and sub-bullets, users are able to collapse and expand the indented bullets in order to create a more simplified view of the their created outline document.
