  2. I was getting irrationally frustrated that everyone was reacting so badly to Evernote's mistaken strategies here because I haven't been affected at all* - yet. Good news - I've got to the stage now that I don't care what anyone else intends, or says. Being aware of the occasional dangers of accepting updates as soon as they appear, I checked the initial EN10 launch thread months back for reaction, based on which I changed my preferences early on NOT to even notify me when updates were available in Windows or Android. I kept the last public versions for all my devices, and it's

  3. As EN hasn't really given a timeline of when they will remove v6.25, I have also started backing up my EN notebooks regularly. Someone had mentioned Backupery so I looked into it. It will only work with Evernote V6.25.1 and lower - they tell you it won't work with V10. Besides running an automatic backup, you can specify all or only certain notebooks and whether you ALSO want to do a back up in HTML The default backup saves ENEX files. My just-in-case backup backup plan...

  4. I just wanted to update anyone who might be following this post with what I have discovered with offline access in 10.x on Mac since my previous posts. I downloaded a fresh copy of Mac 10.4.3 on another Mac which is running MacOS Catalina 10.15.4. I got a blank white notes screen, but let if run for a while (overnite). Then, when I quit Evernote and restarted it, my notes were visible, current with my Legacy Evenote version (running on a different Mac) and were available for editing. I turned WiFi off and was able to see my notes (with the same window message about being offl

Also, when I scan a document, it get goes to the folder I'm currently in versus the new version puts all your scans in some default folder. Took me a while to figure out where my scans were going.

  6. For clarity, I pay for TWO Evernote Premium subscriptions in my house. For more years than I can remember I RELY on Evernote to be my digital archive of information. Accessible on all platforms, and AT LEAST providing information accessibility across all platforms. This latest release is a HUGE letdown and a SLAP IN THE FACE of paying customers. I don't know how Evernote lost it's way, but for the first time I'm actively investigating alternatives. I've started with Notion and will be researching whether it is MORE RELIABLE and MORE STABLE. I'm not naive enough to think that my one complaint o

Re-starting the program does not resolve the problem. In Help menu, choosing "about Evernote" yields a popup with no content.

  8. Ah ha, ok. Thank you both, gazumped and PinkElephant, for the info and advice. I never knew it was just save a pile of notes and not the notebook structure. I guess I don't even need that feature back then, and won't have to backup all of Evernote every time I update in the future.

The recommended action is to delete the data files and then allow the program to rebuild the data. The suggested fix is: Quit Evernote Go to search located next to the start button Search for `%appdata%` Locate and delete the Evernote folder Launch Evernote again and sign in

  11. Have to say I'm really disappointed in the new font selection (or lack thereof) in the new Evernote app. I have to convert (for sake of consistency) entire notes to one of the 6 Evernote fonts available to use. It's neither daring nor clever to take away a key aspect of user preference when taking notes on a computer. How many users truly go back and forth between Windows and Mac for work? Were users really asking you to standardize the actual fonts? Or just the interface? Which makes more sense. How many users actually use such different fonts on both systems that they can't be rendered at le

  13. The new update is horrible. I used to recommend Evernote to everyone I met and now I'm considering not using it anymore. I can't drag and drop screenshots effectively anymore. One main purpose of paying for evernote was the ability to copy/paste and send emails with keeping the screenshots intact. Also, no images dropped in are visible as images inside the note. I don't think it's worth paying for or using at all without this functionality. Besides the crucial issue with images not transferring properly or being visible, here are some other major issues with the new update: 1. The

We care about your data, the actual users of Evernote classic, but new Evernote have proven by their total lack of feedback to this shocking terrible “upgrade” they don’t care one jot for your or my data. We are just tiny numbers in their bigger picture that count for literally nothing. I feel betrayed and de-valued, stupid of me I suppose to think for one second I was important as one of their long term paying customers. Their silence is deafening. Version 10 is unusable and they glibly say they will no longer support the classic version any time soon, then what will we do?

Outlined below, you will find I have time-indexed/linked and copy-transcribed key notes from this recent interview with Ian Small, that was released on YouTube on October 8-2020, and as shared by @gazumped in another forum post. The real work in providing these notes to you, was actually listening to the whole 45 minute interview, and another 45 minutes highlighting key comments that I thought relevant to our questions re EN' New Version 10 issues, as I didn'

  17. Agreed, though there are ways for certain products to offer free versions that cost essentially nothing. I don't think Evernote is one of those. I always thought that people value free stuff in line with what they pay for it, and since I started my own business I've seen it proven time and time again. There's an assumption that a free product needn't be very good, and a natural understanding that the user has little right to demand anything from it. But user buy-in jumps dramatically the first dollar they have to spend.

  18. I am using evernote for English and German content. My Windows operating system primary language is German. Since Evernote 10 it seems that only the system language is considered for spell checking. Now all English text are marked with the red line. For me it is not an option always to change the system language. Could you please bring back the multi-language spelling check option.

  19. You don't have to make it complex and pretty like many users do. I just transferred my data from EN and navigate from the bar on the left. I created my favorites and am happy with the results. EN and Notion are more alike than different since they are both running on Electron. Notion has much better communication with its customers and I like their roadmap. As I said, YMMV

  24. Hi. It seems to me that almost all of your posts on the Evernote forums are about how to leave Evernote. Ultimately, it is up to Evernote what to allow in their forums, but from one user to another, I’d like to ask you to stop posting about how to leave the app, because your point has already been made—there are other options out there. If you would like to use the other apps, we wish you the best of luck with them. The information you are posting seems genuinely helpful for other information workers, but please post about other apps in other forums. Thanks.

  26. Can someone from Evernote please turn this into a high-priority bug fix? I am working wth three languages and the ability to switch languages for spell checking on a note-by-note basis is absolutely essential. I must say I am very surprised that I am getting a notification to update Evernote to a version that doesn't support working in several languages. It would also be nice to see a comment from the Evernote team with some guidance as to when they expect to fix this issue.

  27. Have any of the updates fixed this for you? I noticed that the actual notebooks view is horrible with cut off notebook titles. I have reported it while in beta and again when it went live. Just curious if it's only me or if you are still seeing it. Also, know that you aren't alone on wanting to share business spaces/notebooks outside of a company. I would love to do so with my clients and have to keep their notebooks on my personal account just to share.

  28. This is a huge disappointment. Share was the easiest way to get PDF, photos and other documents into Evernote efficiently. Particularly since using the clipper to capture PDFs from web pages is still broken in the new version. My workflow for capturing information has now become extremely inefficient: Save file, go to EverNote, New Note, click in the note, click Insert and drag to attachment, navigate to file, click Open, back to Finder, locate temp file, delete, back to browser. Compare to: click share, click Evernote. Anybody have a better approach? (Other that switching to

  32. Hey @RavBoy, THANK YOU for taking the time to timestamp this and provide some summaries. That takes a bit of work and it helped me a lot to bounce around to the various points in the video where I could see @Ian Small speak about certain points in which I had a personal interest. Definitely appreciate your contributions on that. Here are my comments and take-aways, for what it's worth: Few probably really appreciate how massively non-trivial Small's undertaking truly is. I have been in and around the making and implementing complex software for about 3 decades now. Evernote's cod

I listened to the interview and found it really encouraging, I would encourage people to do that over reading the above, because oral habits have been transcribed into written word (um etc) it’s really hard to read. I like the idea of remember and accomplish within the app and I am keen to see how that develops.

  34. Same issue here. Completely ridiculous, Evernote is now unusable for me. I will wait some days if they resolve this, if not, I will migrate to OneNote and cancel my Evernote subscription as I rely on a note-taking app in my workflow.

  35. I have the same problem. Basically, I am unable to read all my notes because they are in a different language than my operating system and the spellcheck marks all words as incorrect. Unfortunately, it seems that the spellcheck function is not a part of Evernote anymore. How one can overlook such an important issue in a beta test is really beyond me.

  36. Hi everybody, After the Evernote for Windows last update, the app has begun to check my spelling. I want to disable this function, but can't find how. Anybody has the answer? Thanks!

  37. Same here, it is pretty ridiculous that checking spelling of multiple languages seems not possible anymore without changing the system language. Please re-introduce this asap, because the current way of handling this is clearly a downgrade compared with version 6 of Evernote.

  40. As an ECC, I don't know how to proceed at this point. I promote Evernote all the time to everyone, but I'm conflicted about continuing to do so. I was also preparing an online course and again, I'm not sure if I should invest my time in it at this point. If Evernote is removing functionality, it's going to lose a lot of its attraction for me. I did not update and have no plans to do so for some time. I always thought that having the software configured to the platform it was on was a BENEFIT, not a negative. Seems Evernote didn't agree. 41. What's the point of having two EN side by side? I don't understand Version 10. Let say you have a Mercedes, a decent car you can trust with some good quality German technology. With a new version, you expect the same car with some extra features. Version 10 looks like a Mercedes, but when you drive it, you feel that it is not as powerful as the previous version, then you find out that the paint is falling off, that the rearview mirror breaks off. In other words, it´s an awful copy of a real Mercedes. It is like the first Chinese car when copying western cars ... 30 years ago. Howev

  43. I completely support the tenor of the first post. I am a heavy user of Evernote, I used it for more than 10 years up to 3-4 hours per day. The disappointment when I am forced to use the new iOS app is so huge, that I become angry over and over again. This is not an accepated situation. The new Evernote is not a "good piece of software that has too many bugs". It's actually very bad software that has ON TOP too many (CRITICAL!) bugs. In particular the new features you redesigned are ***** and that is the actual problem of the entire redesign catastrophe! The new features are horr

  44. I`ve just installed the new v. 10 and I just couldn't believe my eyes: oh, no, they kept most of the horrible beta version they realeased a few weeks ago! I would't call it an upgrade. I see it as a new concept, a whole new design - and they turned the back to old customers, simple as that. I spend 90%> of my computer time at Evernote. It has been so for the past 11 years, my workflow is based on Evernote, I have thousands of notes. They messed everything up. My first shock (not yet recovered): they killed the local databases and syncing. Who asked me if I want to have a

  47. Absolutely, that was my main point. While they have given some details I think they should address the sheer amount of things so far un-answered, I think that alone would give users a better sense of the direction. I have noticed a lot of comments across different sites, such as on Reddit where people have the exact same issues we all raised during testing and are now looking for alternatives to move away from EN. I was quietly impressed with the initial videos EN started producing to be more open and explain what was going on with the product but that seems to have stopped now and it alm
