  1. Previously, the elephant icon in the menu bar would stay permanently in the menu bar even after quitting the app. This was incredibly useful, because the helper could be used as an extremely accessible to-do list throughout the day, as well as a tool to quickly save links and ideas for later without having to open the entire app (which is much slower). With version 10, whenever I quit the Evernote app, the helper disappears with it, rendering the function pretty much useless. This also doesn't work on the legacy version Overall, this has taken away one of the few main uses I have for Evernote. Would really like the permanent helper icon back, without needing to open the app!!

  2. I have been a premium user for 11 years now. I struggle with every aspect of Evernote now, where as for about the first 9 of these 11 years I was using Evernote multiple times a day and a strong advocate. What has happened? It feels to me like they are not doing focus groups with users to make sure that new features are a)needed b) implemented well and further to that - things that need improving have not changed at all since day 1 (like the basic ability to support varying thumbnail sizes or improving support for stylus (S pen / Apple Pencil) input. I am so disillusioned that after 11 years I want out.

  3. Are you sure that you are not confusing a link with a spelling error? For me EN underlines the ellipse in red because it doesn't think it is spelt correctly. The answer is to right click it and "add to dictionary". Another alternative might be to add three dashes which EN will automatically convert to a nice clean dividing line.

  4. Hi, I'm looking for a way to automatically create tasks in my Todo app of choice (Todoist) from a note in Evernote. However the current integration (via IFTTT) only works at a note and tag level. I need something more granular than that. If I'm in a meeting taking notes, I'd like to be able to quickly add checkboxes in front of any action items and have them sync to Todoist automatically. The note may contain a lot of other text, but not everythng is relevant for being added to the Todo app - just the lines with checkboxes. So the flow will be: Create a new note (or update an existing note) in Evernote Add some checkbox items in the note Note saved > IFTTT triggered due to presence of checkboxes IFTTT creates task in Todoist for each of the checkboxes in the note Can this be considered please? I'm putting this under Windows but this should be a generic trigger regardless of the platform on which Evernote is being used. Thank you!

  5. Anyone know how to remove the new home screen from IOS. I am not a fan and prefer just to have my notes showing when I open the App

  6. You may not be the only one, but on the other hand not everybody has this same problem. I run EN iOS on a number of devices, and I don't have the problem. Even when trying to reproduce it from what was posted here, I hardly ever get something that reminds of that issue. Probably there is an additional factor that leads to the problem. From what I have seen her in the forum, we still don't know what makes some iOS and Android devices behave like that, and others don't show any sign of the same behavior. Conclusion: It is still necessary to feed support with tickets - maybe they can find a pattern after all.

  7. Hi, I just went through support (ticket# 3383733) to be confirmed, that Evernote 10 for Android has NO background sync capabilities. Back in the days EN 8.13.3 could be set to a specific sync interval for background syncing so that when you start the app you are good to go with the remote changes already being on your device. In 2021 we have push syncing cloud services. OneNote and Google Keep do real time syncing without even having to start the app. Let's look what missing background syncing means at the moment: - no remote changes on scratchpads are on your mobile when you fire up EN10 on the go (having to wait 20-60 seconds to load then) - no remote set or changed reminders are on your mobile so you are likely to miss your reminders (this happens to me regularly) - no remote changes in your notes contained in offline notebooks are downloaded to your device so you cannot rely on having the latest stuff on the device when being offline later. - when firing up EN for Android I have to wait around 20-60 seconds to have "home"-screen updated completely if EN did not run for some hours on mobile. Support seriously told me, to be sure to have these standards features you have to open the mobile app after every time you did a change on web or desktop. If you collaborate with others you don't know about the changes and are out of luck. I suggest re-adding a background or push sync Android service to EN10 that could ensure this basic syncing stuff by updating the database in the background (as back in EN8.13.3).

  8. You are not alone. All problems you tell about I can confirm. I had a ticket about reminders not firing up although synced and support told me about, that they were working on an urgent quick fix. Still checking if 10.18 solved this... You are right, upon starting the app is not actual since there is NO background sync service anymore. I started a feature request on this. Please vote for it. Thanks.

  9. I would do more research before jumping to Nimbus, shady privacy polices, shady company conduct, questions over where data goes….run a search here.

  10. I haven't thought to put it all down but things I miss(ed) are. The windows clipper (used to be able to right click on the Evernote icon and clip anything from the screen into Evernote with no issues) The auto folder import (this is back - but was missing for over a year) The clean layout (now when I open the app on my windows PC I am presented with so much b/s I can't think! What the f is scratch pad? Why are more than 50% of each note thumbnail just empty space , and the thumb of the note part is so small proportionally. Why can't I resize the panels? Like when I am in votes view, the new note space is 50% and the list of thumbs on the left is 50%, but why cant I drag the bar to see more thumbs? I can drag it to make the note thumb area smaller, but not larger. I have an MS Surface PC with a Pen, a Samsung Note with a Pen, and an iPad with a pen, yet I can't hand write in the note compose window with any of them! Why? Evernote does an awesome job of reading handwritten notes (so I can search them), but it wont let me write them! Thumbs are broken, when I scroll down a few pages in my notes view - all the thumbnails, instead of showing my notes, are just white boxes with Grey paper Icon in them. The notes themselves are fine, but I have no previews. FYI I have 8,365 notes dating back to April 2010.

  11. Is there a way to make it so that my Calendar Widget can be switched from daily view to weekly, monthly, etc.? I like being able to see what events are coming up without having to flip through every page. Additionally, is there a way to see task due dates in the Calendar Widget?

  12. I upvote this too! Currently I am using Todoist to create task on Google Calendar. It is quite cumbersome because I need Evernote as centralized place for both notes and tasks timeline.

  13. I agree completely that we should have the option to expand the widget vertically as well as horizontally. So many widgets are naturally long rather than wide. Even for a pinned note if I make it wide enough to get as much information on screen as I can without scrolling it's then too wide to see it all when I view it as a regular note. May be it is my previous preoccupation with paper but I think of notes as portrait not landscape. And while we are on the subject or resizing widgets. When I double the size of the favorites widget I expect to be able to see twice as many favorites not the same number twice the size!

  14. Would be great if we could resize widgets on home screen to a vertical shape and not only wider horizontally.

  15. Why have you removed these vital functions? These were my main way of adding PDFs to my financial filing system Lack of these makes V10 unusable

  16. Oooh yeah. Turn this off! I make lists of youtube videos for sharing and reference. Automatically embedding them requires many extra steps to remove them when you repeat this many times. Users already had the ability to click on the video to watch it. There was never a reason to automatically embed it.

  17. I have a calendar note with a lot of text links to YouTube videos that I copy and paste to different areas of the note depending on my needs. Recently when I copy and paste a link, it automatically embeds the video, messing up the format of the calendar. Every time I paste a link, I have to do an undo action to make it revert back to a regular link. I guess it's not the worst thing in the world as long as undo continues to work, but if possible I would like to find a way to prevent it from doing that in the first place.

  19. To tell the same story short: Let us have a setting where we can choose between Home Screen or note list view as start screen.

  20. For over 10 years that I have been using Evernote I have loved that you could come back fast to the notebook and note you were previously working on when opening the app. SInce the last update to v.10.8.2 you have decided that we want to start in Home when we open the app without asking us and even worst, without letting use choose if we wanted this change. Please give us the option to start the app in the latest notebook used as it has been since the start. Many of us do not use or want to use your new Home page. If you have decided to invest resources in things like Home that the vast majority of your user base didn't ask for it is your own (wrong) decision, but please don't try to shoehorn things like this into our workflow, the only thing you do is alienate your user base. It's puzzling how you dedicate resources to things like Home instead of working in really useful features like e.g., a way to create an in-note table of contents with internal note hyperlinks, something your user base have been screaming for almost since day 1 and that your competition offer years ago.

  21. Suggest: 1. Allow skip the pretty home screen and set the main view as default start screen. Allow to skip the home screen the way it was in previous version of EN on iOS and go right away to the notebooks. Most of time I need to go right to the notebooks list. When iOS reboots or the app restarts, it would start with the home screen again. 2. Give us option to have the ugly old recent menu... I don't mind the home screen, it's ok, it shows well and sells well to new users. I'm not into dashboards, like how often I need that.. but ok, it looks nice, I agree. When we talk Recent Notes in home screen, give us option to skip the chotschke home screen and go to notes list and give us a folder called Recent notes as it is on the classic version of desktop clients. If you move the Recent to Home screen because it's pretty, ok, do whatever pleases people but dont remove stuff from users who use things in a certain way ... without being absolutely absolutely sure people don't want and don't like the old ways.......... Please. Otherwise it's arrogance. Thanks. 'Nough emails to Evernote support. Never ever received any response. I guess they are busy fixing bugs. But I see progress in iOS. It sucks less. LOL

  22. Home is absolutely useless for me! Can I have please propper user settings to switch it off? I want to start evernote with the list of all my notes. Regarding how often I use EN a day there must not additional klicks!

  23. Yeah it's super annoying. Evernote is purpose built for taking text notes. I want to take notes there. YouTube is purpose built for watching videos. I want to watch YouTube videos there. I don't want to go through the hassle of setting options on every single YouTube link I paste into Evernote, this should be a global option.

  24. I would love to see this changed. If people like this new feature, great but this is not useful for everyone. Honestly, I would never actually watch a video within Evernote. There should be a configuration/preference option to set this to either be embedded "or" a link. Let the user choose how this behaves. I have to manually convert every URL back to a link and it's very inefficient.

  25. I am a teacher, and I use Evernote, among other purposes, to store pre-fab comments that I copy and paste in my feedback on student papers. Some of these comments have YouTube URLs. I need to copy and paste the YouTube URL, so I need the Evernote note to store the text of the URL for me. Now, after the big update, it still kind of works, but I am often inadvertently turning the URLs into embedded videos, which is no help to me at all for my use case, and ends up being a headache. Please fix this, perhaps by making a setting to turn off automatic YouTube video embedding. Thanks!
