  1. Hi All, We have fixed the issue affecting Search, and it is now working. Our sincere apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused. Please feel free to reach out to me directly if you have any questions.

  2. Thanks. It is good to see that some of the defects in the “updated” software are being remedied. However, many remain. For example: If a pdf has a non-standard page length it will not open for editing. If you click on more than one tool annotation locks up completely. You still cannot zoom a pdf. The sketch feature now works, sort of. The inking quality is worse than Penultimate prior to the Apple Pencil. The inking tools are crude and not thought out. The plus button allows you to create a table which works only if you need a table exactly three co

  3. I have lots of lists using the old checkbox feature and I especially like that the text does not change to strike-through after checking the checkbox. After upgrading to v10.4.4, Evernote for Windows keeps automatically switching my check box lists to checklists and changes all text to strike-through for checked items. This happens anytime I press enter anywhere in any of the items on any line. It is impossible to add a new line anywhere - in the middle, at the end, ANYWHERE, without the list getting switched to a checklist. PLEASE allow us to disable this new "feature". I can understand

  7. In my work and personal life all Evernote PREMIUM and BUSINESS people left and switched to other applications. They (some of them) still have their subscription until end date of their subscription date. This will ensure the transition to other workflows. So in the coming months the count of paying customers will drop somewhat, don't know the %. But the real damage is done already and will visible in the coming months ..None of the persons I know will advice Evernote as a stable and great product anymore, and this is the real damage.. Evernote cannot repair this damage, 9+ years of l

  8. Hey @Shane D., @Hector C., and others who interact with us beta testers, We appreciate the efforts that Evernote has taken and continues to take to improve the product. We recognize that things are moving along better than they have in the past. But, frankly, when it comes to the Android app anyways, I don't need all these improvements that you're working on. What I need is these critical bugs fixed. I mean, these are really rather obnoxious defects that I'm sure are bothering all users of the app. The biggest ones that are really rather frustrating for me personally are:

Reality check: it happened already. We are where we are. Nothing more to see here - please move on. I played this theme before, but - Evernote supports 250M users. That's like running a country three-quarters the size of the USA. These people all need 24/7/365 access to servers, storage space, support and processor time. They're a big company - the largest (I believe I saw quoted somewhere) repository

  10. 1. I already paid. I don’t see EN offering customers their money back. 2. This post was about iOS. @ArjenC is correct, the iOS application still loses data. I’ve experienced it on multiple occasions. Until this “update” you couldn’t see many of your saved .pdfs. Or, try to scan a multi-page document, a feat that Evernote used to be the best at— the scanner just starts taking photos of your documents, the walls.... One solution: use Scanner Pro or some other scanner— but EN no longer reliably accepts data from 3rd party apps.... 3. It is interesting that you are defending Everno

Then after a couple of seconds a red box appears top middle of the screen saying "! Search Failed. Try again later". (see attached) I am a long term experienced user, I updated to the new app for the mac when it first came out, I use evernote every day, and it has only stopped working tonight. Is anyone else having this problem?

  12. I also HATE the renewed Evernote. I hate it when I want to open Evernote, and I click the system tray icon I then need to click an extra button to open Evernote (I liked it better to just click the system tray icon to open Evernote). I hate it when I want to open a weblink in Evernote I have to click the link and then have to click the link again in a pop-up, and lots of times it still doesn't open the webpage in my webbrowser. It was possible to show my favorites in a top bar; now EN doesn't have that option anymore. It was possible to show the note-list on top, a

  13. Dear people at Evernote, I guess you have read the comments on the Google Play App. An immense amount of the community of Android Evernote users is deeply frustrated with the recent Android upgrade. I won't start listing all the negative points which have been ruined concerning the usability we relied upon on the previous version (you can have a look at the list yourself). Can you please help us all and just go back to the previous version? We would be thankful if you just admit the mistake and do this, it would be a noble thing to do for all of these loyal customers. 14. I would like to suggest 3 new features for future updates: 1) Standard font option for notes or notebooks. If I don't want to use the Sans Serif font for a particular job, just switch to the font that best suits my needs. 2) Create the "Paint format" tool, similar to what already exists in editors such as Office and Google Docs. The formatting brush allows you to copy the formatting already used in a section of the document, thus avoiding the work of having to make a series of changes again in a new section of the note. 3) Creation of shortcut/buttons to change all fonts to uppe

  15. This is my situation with Evernote. I know the Legacy system works - I've been using it for some years now. Still am. If I have to change from it, then I'll re-evaluate and consider my options. But (MHO) all the "OMG it's a disaster" reactions are an irrelevance - there's an easy fix - just use Legacy. V10 should never have been released in the way (and in the state) that it was, but I can understand that there were practicalities that had to be observed. And - it happened already. There really is no going back. Except for Legacy. I don't plan on trying version 10

  16. 100% agreed. I've said before the biggest thing EN broke with v10 was user trust. And unlike a broken or missing feature, trust doesn't get fixed with an update. I stopped evangelizing for EN years ago when I realized that they don't take beta testing very seriously. But even I couldn't have imagined they would unleash this v10 abomination on their users with such little communication/warning. And to your point, as awful as the initial v10 product was, had they managed the release and communication better, they could have put v10 out there for people who wanted to try it, and done so wit

  17. Completely agree. I like the new checklists (mainly because of the ease of reordering by drag and drop) but if I want a check box at the beginning of a line I should be allowed to have one! It would also be nice to choose whether to strikeout the text. If you are not aware from other posts the workaround is to put a space before the checkbox. So <space>[] inserts a checkbox at the beginning of a line, that doesn't change to a checklist when you hit enter. You will need to add it at the beginning of every line though.

  19. While agreeing with most of the critique in this thread, my point is that EN 10.8 is truly dumbed down and no longer gives you control over the advanced settings that previous versions had. Som critical things are removed and even right click is gone, no customizable menu bar and the GUI is also working against you and I have to jump through hoops to create a "bunch of notebooks" and the list of complaints goes on! For me there is no reason to stay with EN with the client in this state of dyslectic functionality, so please listen to this serious feedback EN and bring back the featur

  20. At this point, I would really like to see an official response from Evernote. This thread is two months old and still has recent activity, so others are clearly bothered by this behavior. IF YOU WORK FOR EVERNOTE AND ARE READING THIS, PLEASE RESPOND! Even if the response is that Evernote will not make any changes, I would still want to know that. The change I am asking Evernote to consider is allowing the user the ability/option to shut off or stop the automatic conversion of check box lists to the new checklists. Basically the ability to tell Evernote to leave a list of check boxes

  21. A week or two ago, I received my annual subscription renewal notice from Evernote which prompted me to revaluate the situation with this disastrous new Windows version. I had already reverted back to the legacy version some months ago due to the removal of some important features (to me) such as the right click and save from Microsoft Outlook. I have no confidence in that feature or others ever being reintroduced into the Windows version nor do I have confidence that the legacy version will continue to be supported so I embarked upon a trial migration to Microsoft Onenote (which I alrea

  22. I articulated this in the beta forums and am re-adding here to allow for voting up of the feature for those who agree with me. I very much dislike the added step of having to click a note link, then click the link again in the menu that appears. Adds all kinds of extra clicks to my workflow. I'm aware that Command+Click will open the link in a new window (and bypass the click on the drop down URL that appears). This is an ok workaround for external note links (out to the web, for example) but not at all what I'm after for internal note links (I don't want them to open in a new window

  23. @PinkElephant this isn't fair. If you bring your car for service and only half / quarter of will work (with issues) after they are done with it, you won't be happy. Same with the "update release", in Evernote case it is more "repair the damage done". Version 10 is the full official release and current state of the product, it isn't a beta or demo experiment. It is good to see that new repairs are done, but come on... New: Searching inside shared notebooks is back. This is not a new Feature, and if Evernote really thinks that we, the end-users, will we accept that as a positive up

  26. It seems others are not thrilled to see all their check box lists turned into checklists (with strike through). And Thankfully there is a workaround to prevent this from happening, but adding a space before each line is cumbersome if you have lots of lists and lots of items. So, I go back to my original request.... Can Evernote stop automatically converting existing check box lists to checklists? I'm not asking for checklists to go away - just don't keep switching everything to checklists! Or, allow the user some way to disable/turn off this auto-convert to checklist feature? Perhaps som

I finally spent half my weekend exporting all my notes to Apple Notes and now couldn't be happier. It does exactly what I want: Takes notes, works across all my devices, loads instantly, doesn't interrupt my workflow with stupid announcements about a "new version coming soon". No bugs, No missing notes requiring me to restart the app. Just works. It even has an encrypted note feature! Thank you Apple. Now I've discovered Evernote make it impossible to delete my account for good. Th

  32. I'm afraid that Evernote have lost the plot. This used to be a great product but the new "architecture" has made the product very slow. I'm on a new mac mini - everything else works fine - but not Evernote. There are delays when typing a note and it has got so bad now that I think it's the end of the road. If I can't type a note on Evernote consistently then I can't use the product. Goodbye Evernote.

  33. Since updating the Evernote app, if I edit an existing note before an existing word (so not at the end), when I tap the space bar, the cursor jumps over the next word and starts typing after it. I have google keyboard and know there were issues in the past, but this one seems consistent.

  35. For secure storage: Many Password-Managers allow for the storage of notes and attachments in the encrypted vault. These programs are build for storing information in a secure way. If this is no solution, the tool used for encryption and the tool used for safe storage should be from 2 different providers. This makes it less likely that in case of a breach, anything of value will be captured. If the tool to encrypt is separate, all they can steal is data fog, sequences of 0s and 1s without any meaning. In most cloud services (including EN) the data is encrypted while stored, which adds

  36. Your new idea of checklists takes a flexible tool and makes it single use. You force us to use checklists for one purpose. If it’s not checked, it’s not done. If it is, it’s over with and done. I don’t need to see it any longer. I won’t use it again. But lists don’t have such a single, unary purpose. Some lists the default is checked. Some, the default is not check. Most of my lists are intended to be reusable sets of things. A list for a store of things I need over time over and over, I’m checking thing and then unchecking them. Some lists again the default is checked that I need it. In

It is a note taking app and I need to be able to type away. Same with tagging, I should be able to tag quickly, instead I type the tag, wait for it, hit enter....wait for it to show up then type the next tag. I am really hoping the typing lag will go away, I don't think I can live with that though.

  40. Feature Request: Add Outlining Capabilities to Evernote Evernote is great, but it's dying for the ability to create Notes that contain Outlines which are easily collapsed and expanded during creation and in use. One way to implement it would be a switchable editing mode, between standard formatting or outline mode. In outline mode, pressing the Enter key creates a new outline item, and pressing the Tab key changes the current item into a sub-item. Clicking on an item's action icon causes its sub-items to collapse out of, or expand into view. That's the way the Ecco Pro PIM did it, and somethi

  42. It's not about lazy programming, it's about competitive realities. EN could afford to maintain 5 different codebases back when Evernote and OneNote were the only "real" cross platform note apps. But times have changed, and the note app market has lots of competitors, a number of which have surpassed Evernote in some aspects of functionality. EN simply could not afford to move at a lumbering elephant's pace with 5 different codebases while their competitors are zooming ahead. That's not to say I think they managed this transition well - in fact, I have been very critical of this spectacula

  45. Totally agree. It's frustrating not only because when we press enter for a new line it transforms into a checklist, but also because it's indented. I manage checklist/boxes within tables and this messes up with the whole design and width of columns. Typing a space before the box it's a workaround but it'd be nice that they fix this so it doesn't switch automatically.

Congratulations Evernote, you are ground breaking, the very first in software history to pass off a sub beta as the finished article (after extensive beta testing, Ha ha ha) to millions of users and then stick with it as if nothing just happened, blaming the “power users” for messing it up for you by recognising the stroke you just pulled. Those horrible 2%er power users. When I say power users what I really mean is people that actually care about the software and know how to use it properly.
