  2. To be more precise: If you don’t have it, get and install Revo Uninstaller from the web. Quit the EN client from the menu (not only closing the window). Now run Revo to remove everything. Restart the PC. Install EN again, from the EN website. Open, log in. Working ? Then let it open in the background, to allow the download of your data to the local drive.
  3. You can’t. Without a persisted login (by cutting the server connection when being logged in) the client is useless. Maybe there are some hacks - but what are they worth ? You can access your notes using the modern client. Local notebooks (if any) should be exported from your leftover install before it goes belly up as well. HTML is a good choice if you don’t want to import them into the new client and to the server. Else use ENEX.
  4. I still have one copy of Legacy fully functional in one computer, except for it does not sync anymore. I installed the same version of legacy in another computer, but can't access my ENEX backup file (over 17K notes!) offline. Does anyone have an idea as to how to keep using Legacy even after signing out?
  5. Yep - see below how I'll use it... Oups - how did you achieve it in Legacy (where we had not anchored links...)? Here's my use case: In longer lasting activity notes I start every new event (phone call, discussion, ...) with a short headline (always on top of the note) Before EN10 these headlines where simply bolded text - now I'll convert them to small headlines (H3), which enables me to collapse all text below. This would save some space and would act like a TOC: Since the real TOCs came up, I do not collapse the section but go to top of the note and insert a TOC with the /-command and change the numbered list to a bulleted one: This again saves (much) space on my screen and shows the complete story most often on one page. Clicking on a line moves me directly to the desired subsection... But beside all joy with this new feature, I have some wishes for the future: TOC lines should use text decoration from headlines (bold, italic, underline, colour) URL format should be configurable (no underlining, no fix colour, ...) TOCs should be dynamic with automatic updates... if headlines' text changes if headlines are added if headlines (with sections below) are moved if headlines are deleted I know that this can't be done with the current implementation because the /-command simply generates a "TOC" by inserting approriate anchored links to the current editing position. I wonder why EN used this poor methodology - seeing that other editing systems (incl. competitive apps) use special TOC-blocks with configurable properties: A TOC block is a placeholder that might be moved around the note (or even to other notes) Because it is known as a TOC, the system is able to change it's content on request (i.e. if headlines change) Within a single TOC block, it might be possible to attach special display properties this this block instead of using global TOC settins (font, list type, coloures, ...) Too bad... (or @Federico Simionato - is there a chance to get it later?)
  6. @konya dake When you talk to EN, tell them positively why they should change something. Describe your use case, tell the benefit for others. Arguing „because the old clients did“ is no good idea. The new client is out since 2020, used by millions of fellow users. They all are adapted to what you want to get changed.
  7. In these forums you speak only to fellow users. If you want to suggest improvements you can Email feedback@evernote.com

  9. thanks... hopefully in future you allow users to change the customize colors, because each of us has different taste, and for me gray is probably the ugliest color espically with green and purple, its just not connecting together for me.
  10. @pkbldr many thanks, much appreciated. I think the whole collaboration system be it sharing or teams spaces still needs an overhaul. Most is still working as it did years ago. There were a lot of questions asked by BS a few months ago re collaboration so I'm hoping for some changes at some point. Exciting times.
  11. Thank you Jon, that post of yours is what got me started down this path actually. We’ve just reactivated our Teams account after precisely a year long deactivation. I’ve been following your articles for a while and you’ve helped keep me up to date on the progress BS has made. I actually had a good experience with Support resolving some cobwebs during reactivating and it’s been a really long time since I’ve been able to say that. I am optimistic to say the least. Been with Evernote since 2010 and I can confidently say that, at least for my team, everything else is a flawed imitation. “Nothin’ like the real thing Baby!” I suppose in some measure you also are responsible for my dissatisfaction with not being able to Template or Duplicate Spaces but I suppose I must take the good with the bad… or the bad with the good…🤔 At any rate; thanks for what you do and keep up the good work! I’ll see if I can post this suggestion to BS and, who knows, they might like it too. Thanks again.

  13. I hope this is thought through properly and we don't loose the option to have these files as attachments if we want to. For the record attaching html and txt files to a note in the Legacy version resulted in the contents being imported into the body of the note, so it's only partially a new feature.
  14. It is a Microsoft approach to UI. Multiple ways to achieve one thing. I don't mind it, some ways are faster and other are more easier to understand.
  15. It's a little obvious to me that the current Evernote team likes to test things and make changes quickly and in large quantities. I agree that it would be better to have a stable version and another for testing but I don't see that happening at the moment. For those whose changes unfortunately hinder productivity, a new app may be the best option.
  16. If it's just a notebook that contains multiple notes you can export as an enex file and then drag into EN when you need it. I do this when I get a new client. I wrote something about this the other week which might be useful. https://tamingthetrunk.substack.com/p/creating-notebook-templates-in-evernote I do agree though being able to store notebook templates in the gallery would be useful.
  17. I’d like to be able to create a ‘Template’ Space for new Projects that contains the Notebooks and Note Templates that we typically use. This would save a significant amount of time in setting up a new Project. If not a template, at least a Duplicate function similar to the Duplicate Note function. What I have in mind is to name the Notebooks in the Template Space with a placeholder for the three letter prefix we use universally as a Notebook/ Note/ file /folder naming structure; ( XXX_Correspondence ). I’m surprised if this isn’t available and I’m just blind to it but if not; does anyone see a workaround to accomplish it without having to recreate the structure every_single_time? Thanks, Toby
  18. Maybe, maybe not. Don't really know what to think or believe. But it confirms that the focus is on new things, and bug fixing has the lowest priority at Evernote.
  19. FWIW... My local Evernote data takes about the same amount ofof storage as the evernote-backup storage (adding together the SQL database plus the exported ENEX).
  20. I am living proof of your argument because I am its complete opposite. 80% of my use of Evernote is for saving files and notes and 20% for work and productivity, so these changes affect me very little. Honestly, until today I haven't been able to really notice this change in spacing. 🤭
  21. As already posted the only solution is to use a menu bar manager for MacOS, and move the EN icon to a hidden segment. Personally I find the EN helper useful - to jot down a fast note, or the occasional screenshot. It supports my use of EN to collect and organize all kind of information.
  22. but your "COMMAND + DRAG OUT THE EN-ICON" does not work with the EVERNOTE-icon !
  23. If you are having password issues, you need to contact Support on https://help.evernote.com/hc/requests/new
  24. BTW the GitHub export project doesn’t need to run on the same device as any EN client. It uses the API and pulls the data from the server. Since it can run in a Docker, it can even be installed on any device able to run Docker. If EN supports the OS is not relevant. Can be a server, a NAS or even one of the more potent Raspberry Pi models.
