Hi. All good questions, but we're mainly other users here; and Evernote has never over-shared it's future plans. Given the break-neck speed of development in the past 18 months though, it seems highly likely that existing features will be developed further, and new ones added. Searching the Forums has always been an issue, but as it's a public forum you should find that any internet search will find forum topics as well as third-party ones. I believe that Evernote will be looking at the overall structure this year - it's unknown when or how that might lead to changes. Since you raise the question - how would you see things being revised? IMHO the major issue with Forums is that new users often don't know enough to ask the right questions, and frequently don't give enough information initially to get a sensible answer. (I have the phrase "what's your device / OS / Evernote version" on speed-dial...) Thinking about your suggestion - would it be more sensible to divide the topics into different operations rather than products? Off the top of my head that might be: Installing / Uninstalling: Versions Authentication - opening the app and logging in Editing/ Creating Notebooks & Notes - attaching content Exporting/ Printing Notes Organization - Calendars & Task Management Appearance - line spacing, thumbnails, styles -feel free to add more suggestions if I missed anything. Or should there be something else?

Good you found the route yourself. Free is a trial, not meant for continued use. Probably you still had more than 1 notebook, which locks new note creation even when below 50 notes.

It's a bug that came with EN 10.77.3 a couple of months ago. I wonder if they changed something in the software that is exacerbating something. I guess this was a good exercise as I think somehow during many software changes I wound up with multiple copies of the database. It cleaned 210gb. 🙂

This is very easy. If you use calendar/files/tasks - use it. If you don't want to use it, make a way for us to hide it

Yes, please make this happen. This is so annying that you have to see stuff you don't use. Note to all developers in the world: If you add something in the software, always make an option to hide it for the user. Always!!!

COLLAPSIBLE SECTIONS ARE THE GREATEST FEATURE EVER!!!!!!!! I can use them sort of like Workflowy for deeply nested lists which mirrors the way my brain works.. however there are a few issues I want to check before going all in on them: 1. They don't appear in the iOS app? All sections are just expanded and cannot be collapsed.. is this coming in the future? 2. Only the 3 headers can be collapsed, not lists or any other element. Is this going to change? 3. Ideally I would structure a lot of my disparate notes within a single note per year, with sections for each day and nested sections within that day for different topics. So that kind of note would have a lot of sections with lots of nesting. Is EN really going to support sections well enough that this is feasible and doesn't bug out or lag? Generally can we expect these to be a first-class, well-supported, long-term feature of EN? EDIT: Also what is going on with the forums? There are way too many subforums, some of which don't have posts for years. The main discussions page recommends posts from 2020. The whole thing is a mess.. the forums should be consolidated and the interface should clearly show the newest/trending topics. The search function also just doesn't work, doesn't find a lot of posts that have the right keywords, and it makes you select every single forum you'd like to search manually instead of searching all of them.. this is just terrible.

Had enough of your incessantly annoying popups. Now a limit on the number of notes. I deleted few notes and also cleared trash and still getting the same message. That's the last straw, now I'm done with Evernote. Actually, thanks for hamstringing the Free Tier. That's how I got to know about Notion, which is where I'm headed. Sincerely, A frustrated user

Yeah - ignoring it is the key. It takes the same number of keystrokes to enter a date as it did before. Slightly annoying though. They could tweak the slash command menu so that it doesn't appear if the '/' is preceded immediately by a number. This is the case in at least one other app that I currently use that supports slash commands. In that app, it seems more intuitive when the slash command appears and it can also be toggled off altogether. I hope/suspect we'll see some minor tweaks for improvements in the coming weeks/months. Pardon the US formatted date. 🤣 I generally type dates in YYYY-MM-DD format, but that's not a good example for the slash command menu. 😃

The listing you show is obviously sorted by the number of note the tag is applied to. The idea of the Home widget is to dynamically offer the tags most used - which may or may not be helpful. Since there was not Home in legacy, there is no way of comparing a v10 Home widget with anything legacy had. In the left panel the sorting is by alphabet. If you want a different sort than by numbers in the Home widget, you can ask for it through feedback@evernote.com

For example, at the moment I have three notes marked as shortcuts. They show up in the list on the left panel, but only two show up in the home page widget. The problem seems to be that the widget is only able to display one row of shortcuts.

No, it's more difficult, subject to be different from time to time (changed by other users), slower, more steps, not just a trusty button click (for some of our users that need this simplicity).

Drag & drop of files works for me, no issue. MacOS Sonoma, EN 10.85.2. With some of the latest updates, functions only came live when logging out of the account, and back in. In one case I needed to restart the Mac to make new features work.

Several. My scanner was delivered with a copy of Abby Fine Reader. This is professional grade OCR, but it will only work on files build by the scanner software. For the occasional OCR I use "owlOCR". It is a Mac app, that does some tricks on pictures and pdfs. In many cases MacOS support grabbing text from pictures natively.

The slash will be followed by the drop down list immediately, no matter if at the beginning of a line, or somewhere in the middle. If it is followed by anything that does not lead to an existing item, it will be folded right away. Sometimes it is not obvious - for example an X will show the checkbox option. If the combination makes sense, it will stay open, reduced to the still possible commands. When you type the 8th character, it will go away, even if what is typed is still matching an option. Unless you press "ENTER" nothing will be inserted. Conclusion: If you manage to ignore it, in most cases nothing will be inserted. However I agree it would be good to be able to switch it off by a setting.

Numerous issues with this new feature. Some obvious ones, I don't know why they pushed it out so soon. Here are a few that I've noticed. Multiple copies There are actually many more copies of those, I just clipped a few ... I only have one file. This is happening with several files and not just this one. It says I can't preview it, ok, but then it wants me to download it. It is already downloaded, why can't I just open it like I can from the note? I've also seen the problem with password protected PDFs. Media is picking up all of the flotsam images from web clipping. It would be nice if they could filter those out somehow. This is interesting but I'm struggling to see how I would actually use it.

Maybe for you, but not for most of us. The advice given by @PinkElephant is accurate and you are using a new app. V10 works differently from Legacy in many ways and you will need to either adapt or find an app that works better for you. None of us are employees or paid to be here. We are here to try and help fellow users. Drop the attitude and provide specific details and we may try to help out.

Here 'files' will probably only make a core problem obvious, i.e. reveal that note handling has issues no one was aware of before. Same with the 'search for attachment name' that @Dave-in-Decatur mentioned, this would allow to list all 'untitled attachments' 'unknown attachments' and hopefully will not give us a heart attack if we find too many of them...

If any businesses still use Evernote, this sounds like the makings of a data retention policy nightmare.

Your "advise" is not advice and illustrates your "advise" seems like meanlingless AI generated reponse. Evernote is a dumpster fire. I'm sick of it. I'm only posting this because I pay for evernote and, therfore, have the right. I pay for it, but are you an employee or contractor or reviewer or influencer for Evernote. Hey Evernote: shape up or ship out (look it up). Your support team doesn't respond, are you paying bots or shills to respond? Evernote version 4 is 10x better than than Evernote April 2024.

I really hope they fix this. I mean, why is this such a special shortuct key anyway? Why not make it like all the other shortcuts (sure, add the inline text and make it '/' by default if you REALLY REALLY need to make it discoverable) but let us reassign it to whatever shortcut we want in the keyboard shortcut settings. I feel like I'm going to have to add to my autohotkey script to change the '/' key's behavior to pasting a slash instead of behaving like a normal key in order to work around this.. Anyway, thanks for confirming.

Literally one you pay for? Choices at the moment are Personal or Professional.
