  2. The trinity for me is: 1. Everything by voidtools. Insanely fast filename search in Windows. Lightweight. Free. Portable install friendly. During your first few days of use you spend a lot of time wiping away tears of joy and rage: microsoft could have made search this easy decades ago, and you wasted so much time and hope on _google desktop search_ and _copernic_ and _Windows search_ and all along THIS was possible! https://www.voidtools.com/ 2. Directory Opus. Useful out of the box: as a file manager, file finder, folder synchronizer, duplicate file finder. And then you start customizing it, adding maybe a toolbar loaded with shortcuts you need every month for your expense reports, and a button to make each receipt you've finished turn blue. And after a few years (you pay and you own it, not a subscription) you are scripting this and that, frequently appreciating the quality of the documentation that supports doing neat stuff, shaking your head when the press explodes over Microsoft offering support for _tabs_ in file explorer. There's no going back. 3. Everno-- well, Obsidian now probably. I just want to take notes, trust that they will always be my property to move and modify, and search them quickly. I can export them (notebook by notebook by notebook) in ENEX format, and live with the learning curve of a new tool for now. If something better comes along to snarfle up ENEX I've still got those files. But Evernote doesn't make me feel like it used to...
  3. "All" it would need would be for someone to hack the sync side of things so, for example, you could sync over Dropbox etc. Quite a leap and quite tricky I'm sure, but I doubt BS would be bothered. Would be great.
  4. I think the intention is to highlight how they've improved the software. Most people would be happy with improvements, a small minority will be upset with the notification. Personally I'd rather click away the patch notes and enjoy the improvements. I feel like there are bigger things to complain about than a note that they added some new features.
  5. Legacy was a great program but it’s not coming back. It's a fact.
  6. I'd throw in Eaglefiler and Keep It (not Google Keep). For me on MacOS the closest things to Evernote Legacy, both local, both non-proprietary note storage, finder integraton with spotlight and superior tagging system, icloud, dropbox sync etc. Anything you would want in Legacy plus very responsive (like 2 hrs to 2 days) support by the developer...
  7. Yesterday
  8. Click on view and you can turn off sidebar and note list which will leave you with the single panel.
  9. wow, that brings back memories. Wrote my diploma thesis on it on an old 80286 PC. Mastered most of the keyboard shortcuts in the end 🙂 Those were the times where you could almost use your pc being blindfolded...
  10. Ah, I didn't realize it was either/or. Appreciate the update.
  11. Check connectivity. Try on your WiFi - working ? Disable WiFi on your phone, try with mobile data (needs to be enabled for EN) - working ? Go to a place with free WiFi access (Mall, library, public buildings) - working ? If it works on some networks, but fails on others, it is likely a network issue. Some more hints: Clear out the devices cache. Make sure everything is updated (EN needs Android 9 /iOS 13 as minimum). Make a forced restart of the device. Erase Network settings (only as last resort, and when you know how to rebuild them).
  12. 10.56.8 doesn't work on Win7 anymore. It logged out, then autoupdates to 10.65.2 despite to .json tweak, but 10.65.2 won't start. I roll back to 10.56.8 again but an error 'client not supported' appears while trying to login.
  13. That was an answer when the number of notes was "several". Just so we're on the same page here, what's your Device / OS and Evernote version? If you're having issues, your local data may be corrupted and a clean reinstall may be indicated. If you recently updated from Legacy your local data may still be being created (it takes days for large files) so patience may be all that is needed...
  14. They've been constantly launching new features. There is no way to disable this. I would rather them continue making Evernote better personally.
  15. Not sure - what you see are the highest profile hits. Hit return on the search - without selecting one of the listed items - and you'll get a results list of all the notes with your keywords or tags.
  16. This is the new notification area to notify you of new features launched. As far as I know there is no way to turn it off.
  17. This is on desktop and perhaps not the same thing, but I'm now seeing this notification bell near the top of my screen. That's prime real estate and I expect to see notifications about my notes, such as reminders, not notifications or marketing messages EN wants to send me about the platform. Given EN's frantic pace of bugariffic releases--here's something new! oh wait, we broke something else, here's another version to fix that!-- I'm concerned that corner is turning into EN marketing central.
  18. Doesn't appear Chrome saves the login, or maybe it did but I cleared the cache not too long ago. I still have an old Macbook with the same company. Going to see if the IT helpdesk can help me log into that old Macbook without connecting to the internet. (I forgot the password after 4 years) If I can get just the Username, I should be able to figure out the password to my Evernote account. I'll post my results.
  19. This statement is very general. You can post here about what feature in Evernote that's embedding your definition of usability and maybe there's a workaround. There's a setting now to hide the issue that caused this thread.
  20. I'm using a Samsung s22 ultra, have tried deleting cache, data, uninstalling and reinstalling. Still the same issue. Have logged a help ticket too but not holding my breath on getting a response - have heard that since new owners the support is awful
  21. @Federico Simionato has an update on X. I think this looks nice, especially if it'll make the app faster. I'm loving the notes, calendar, tasks etc at the bottom of the screen. The Android app has gotten better but is still far too heavy and I like what they are doing to make things more lightweight.
  22. I have the same problem. Uninstalled Evernote, reinstalled it and when logging in I get the error message (No internet connection. Try again later). But my internet connection is excellent. Would like to use Evernote on my mobile phone again. The annual subscription price is high, so there should be no such problems!
  23. So then if I have text selected and I press '/', you suggest to not replace the text with the '/' character just yet, but wait to see what the user will do with the slash commands first? If I press Esc to dismiss the commands then we replace the selected text with the '/' character, but if I type 'c' (because I'm going to type 'cod' to get the 'code block' command filtered, I'm not going to use the mouse to click on it) then... what happens with the 'c' character as far as showing in the note? Nothing because it's still in the menu of slash commands and we haven't determined yet if I'm going to do a command or not?
  24. It's a very minor issue in the grand scheme of things but best practice is to allow the small number of users who know/care to individually opt in to the latest updates by checking for updates. This also allows support reps dealing with customers to more easily ask them to update to solve a bug they may be experiencing. The remaining 99+% of users can slowly get the rollout over the course of a week as per usual. Exactly.
  25. I'm having the same issue. I have really large notebooks and wondering if this might be causing the problem, eg 80,000 notes. (Been using since 2008)
  26. Once one of the entries of the drop-down slash menu is selected, it is a command.
  27. Sure, once a new update comes in, I'll take a screen shot.
