  2. First I’ve heard of this. How about providing a few links to those comments?
  3. In general for both own OCR and OCR by EN the scanner should be set to high resolution - 300dpi or better should be selected. 150dpi or less will create bad OCR recognition rates. The files become larger, but only with good picture layer quality the text layer will be correct. If the scanner software does its own OCR you need to check with that software. In the ScanSnap app provided by Fujitsu it is a single checkbox that toggles OCR on or off. If there is an OCR (text) layer in the pdf, EN skips running it’s own. It then only indexes the text layer it receives. Indexing means it takes the words and builds a location mark for each one. This means each word will be in the index only once. The index will then hold all places where it shows. The term MyContent will be there once, and then a list of files and positions inside of that files will follow. That’s how false positives and false negatives happen: A false positive will tell there is MyContent where there is none, a false negative will not show it although it is there. This happens when the word is not identified correctly. So it depends all on the OCR identifying it correctly among the cloud of pixels that form the scripture on the white background. When you open the pdf in a reader app, and you can then select the text with the mouse it usually contains a text layer. At least this was how it used to be. With modern OS doing instant OCR (at least my Mac does) it is sometimes hard to tell without taking a look at the pdf file itself. If all your scans are in English, the English language setting will be fine. Just when using several languages adding them becomes important. But again, this will not override an existing text layer that was created before the pdf was uploaded into EN. A good text layer will give good search results.
  4. We know what it says...Lol. Soooo, as mentioned previously with this being a fresh install of Firefox, what might be helpful to know/consider... is that the browser might actully be the best place to look for these types of issues... FIRST... and FOREMOST- instead of going through all of the other ancillary hoopla networking variables before that. I didn't disable any pop-ups. Firefox browser... by default... may have blocked it- according to Evernote's message. I'll be looking into the Firefox browser to see if it's truly blocking it through a pop-up blocking agent or something. I haven't used Firefox in over a decade and this was my first install of it on this tablet, so should be a good place to do some testing for it. (Instead of my preferred browser; Chrome)
  5. I don't think it is too harsh. When a company that provides fake AI "services" asks other companies to put a button in their interface that will send user data out to their servers, it is a Trojan horse. Users are induced to use this feature without ever having asked for it. Across these forums, there are users who seem to have inadvertently activated the feature and now see it doing things without their re-authorizing it. It does not appear Evernote has any real handle on this technology or any control over what the outside providers do with user data–which is stored on that outside company's servers for up to 30 days and possibly longer (given there appears to be zero oversight).
  6. That’s enough - to know that only a small group of users run these posts. Usually with a lot of strong expressions, and short of information. Personally I would send anybody who just now switched from only using legacy for half a year into read only mode in this forum. Who used deprecated software for more than 3 years and procrastinated with at least using v10 in parallel should first follow his personal learning curve before starting his rants. The forum has a wealth of information and solutions for anybody who is serious about using v10. Who is switching from legacy will experience a need to adapt his workflows. Who moved with v10 did this step by step. Who stood by until now has it all in one leap. Nobody to blame, who did not adapt over time did bring himself into this situation. Who is not willing to adapt should better quit now, and leave for another app. Nobody waited for you to switch and start ranting. You didn‘t move earlier out of your own decision, and you are where you are because of it. I have my own issues with v10 (as with any other app I use), but in general I prefer it 100% over legacy.
  7. Ok so the way im scanning right now, which is to the folder then getting imported to Evernote, it wont OCR as well??? Im not sure when a scan comes with text layer or not. Is there a way for the Epson DS-510 to do the same as the Fuji - the pre ocr? is there some videos i could watch to better understand also i checked my language settings, its set to US only
  8. Tried to add a line "<back to Content>" at end of each section to be able to jump back to the TOC... add a H1 "Content" to the top of the note copy anchor link to clipboard by clicking on icon right of the headline paste this link to new line at end of a section unfortunately the title of the note is used as link text - should be "Content" change link text to "<back to Content>" copy this line to each end of a section go <back to Content> insert TOC with /-command just after H1 "Content" delete first line of TOC (because it points needless to "Content" 😉) Works great 👍:
  9. Today
  10. You do not need "new feedback, new reports". You just need to spend one or two days to read this forum. Is should be enough to realize what's wrong with EN v10. Thats enough.
  11. s2sailor: Thank you for your post! I deleted and reinstalled the app on both my iOS devices and that cleared up the mismatched tags perfectly. Such an obvious fix and I'm ashamed I didn't think of it.
  12. understand. good luck, for me (and other users here) step back. This is business goal, business decision. I understand. Im active user since 2013. am worry that all that was paid and developed against many years was gone.
  13. Understand your point of view, but can't agree. I can’t imagine that somebody (BS) bought a piece of software without any basics research. There are hundreds of Users complaining here about EN policy since many years… I am paid customer since 2013 (10 years). Now I have give a last chance to new team. I am still under my $$ plan, but this is last year (I am cancelled my paid plan and give force to me to find alternative this year). I am long term paid customer. I know my habits, I know unique and special EN features, but it is right point in time for me to focus on other solution. Snow ball was fired.
  14. The add table of contents function is now in the / or insert menu as of 10.85.2 Only problem I've found so far is that the links don't work if they are to a sub heading (e.g. medium) within a main heading (e.g. large) that is folded. This just reinforces the need to have a command to open and close all foldable sections. Also Im sure that ctrl+Home used to take you to the top of the note. That doesn't work anymore. It's important to be able to easily go back to your TOC. Best option I've found at the moment is F2 (to go to the title, although the screen doesn't scroll) followed by the down arrow. Also the TOC items are not dynamic, so if you change one of the headings you need to remake the TOC (or manually edit) - I guess I can live with that.
  15. I also find this annoying. I've just shared my feedback with feedback@evernote.com. Hope that will help.
  16. Maybe you aren't aware of the history, but Bending Spoons bought Evernote a little over a year ago, so yes, this is new to them. Your choices are pretty straightforward, either use V10 and work to improve it with bug reports and feedback, or move to another app that works better for you.
  17. The v10 app is new, 100% fresh code, zero carry over. The only communality was (until May 2023) the common database. This was abandoned when RTE sync was introduced. It is a new app and should be accepted as such.
  18. Understand, but how long new EN v10 is created? It is not "complete new thing that currently BS Team is not aware". It is very old, missed / not implemented feature. Theay really squeezing old users away.
  19. You use a new app now. Accept it, or switch to an app that suits you better. You are forced to nothing. Nobody will shoot the dog.
  20. With slow I meant maybe 10 seconds, for more than 30k of files. Once the files are listed everything works snappy, like changing the order field or up/down sequence.
  21. Ok, you need to come to terms that V10 is a different app and Legacy is no longer. Evernote is V10. If V10 doesn't do something you want, fine, request it at feedback@evernote.com. Comparisons back to a version that the new team at Bending Spoons likely never used will get no traction. If you provide a good use case and how this may benefit others, in addition to you, then the new Evernote team may take your suggestion under advisement.
  22. The error message says it all: You need to enable popup windows in your browser. You have disabled them <facepalm> …
  23. My preferred OCR is done by the scanner app (in my case Fujitsu, Abby Fine Reader). When a scan comes with a text layer when uploaded, EN will not OCR it again. In this cases the embedded OCR result is used to build the search index. This means: First check if the file comes with a text layer. If yes, you need to improve OCR quality of this text layer to improve search results. If the OCR is off, search will be off as well. To optimize search results when OCR is done by EN, check the language settings in your account settings. The more recognition languages you select, the worse will be the search quality. OCR will be improved by comparing OCR output with a dictionary. When several languages are enabled, there are more false hits generated, and search becomes more fuzzy. On the other hand if you upload a document in a language not included in your settings, search may be wildly off, because the dictionary will replace the OCR reading with words from another language.
  24. I've had that problem for over a year. Today, I simply wanted to try sketch now that I have a tablet... and it doesn't work. Wanted to create a ticket to get that fixed before renewing. Not going to pay $130/ year for this madness....especially if we can't even open support tickets.<facepalm> It's nothing related to the network on my end. Tried multiple ISPs. This is now all being done on my tablet right now even, same issue. Even tried multiple browsers in which EN says are supported. Brand new install of Firefox.... even gets error message. See attached. I was surprised to finally at least get an error message. I think in the past, I eventually got a direct link to create a support ticket, which worked. That was in the past. Pop up settings in the browser were also an issue in the past for logins. Haven't bothered much with web stuff for evernote since...until now again. Ugh.
  25. As was stated here many many times: "many users, many workflows, many user causes". Which is good for one, isn't good for other. For me it is step back in compare of legacy version. If They want to extend functionality why They don't provide an option to switch this behavior "new" and "old" ? Additional keystrokes, complete different "workflow". WHY??? I was fine with legacy version. But They forced me to everything new. As extension, increasing price 2x times... Really, good luck.
  26. Yes, my experience also is very slow Evernote when I choose the new Files menu. Just trying again today, still after 30 minutes it still loading...
