Doubling the price??
Jeffrey Hallett replied to Jeffrey Hallett's topic in Evernote General Discussions
Exactly a reason I think they are in a good position to start experimenting with other tiers of service. -

Doubling the price??
PinkElephant replied to Jeffrey Hallett's topic in Evernote General Discussions
There are enough apps in the basic note taking segment of the market. Many of them are offered by indie devs or small outfits with a narrow cost footprint. From a business viewpoint it probably makes no sense to downgrade a complex product just to compete in this field. -
If you're going to offer a cut-down version of your service, you need to have a final, fully operational version of what that service is before you can start paring it down. Evernote is sensibly (MHO) getting their full product set up before they consider any options.

Doubling the price??
Jeffrey Hallett replied to Jeffrey Hallett's topic in Evernote General Discussions
I think these two latest responses are a good summary of perhaps where Evernote is now missing the boat. We all appreciate the hard work the team has put into making a great product, but they've lost the division between the personal basic note-taker and the power-user. They would do well to create a lower-tier for more basic note taking, and clearly differentiating a premium professional product with a higher price tag that includes more advanced features like sharing, calendar integration, AI, etc. -

The app is not build for basic note taking. Simple as that, good luck. -

I don't use the Android app often, but whenever I open it, I need it without delay. and there seems to be a surprise waiting on the way to what I intended to do. The latest surprise is that instead of opening where I left off, it opens on an irrelevant screen, and I have to hunt for where I was last. I managed to find the preferences and I cannot figire how to change the start page. Was that not an option at one time? And frankly, speaking of annoyances, I do not want my software to wish me Good Morning! I find it condescending and stupid coming from a machine. I have actual humans around me for that. At least the thing has stopped trying to address me by the name I am registered with, but no human I know calls me. Small mercies.

And to elaborate a tiny bit on @gazumped's comment, on my Win 11 system the Win+Shift+S command puts the clipped area into the clipboard all by itself. So it's very easy to paste the info where it's needed. Not quite the same thing, but a function that I use multiple times a day myself, and I find myself not missing the function built into Evernote that Win 11 has hijacked -- at least not enough to spend many of my own brain's CPU cycles worrying about it. Of course, other may differ. Vinnie

Why does search prioritize some old notes??

On my Win 11 keyboard Win+Shift+S gives me screenshot options which can be posted into a note. Or for partial content Ctrl+C - Ctrl+V will copy and paste selected text. Alt+Ctrl+N is the global command for 'new note' So Win+Shift+S - Alt+Ctrl+N - Ctrl V is as close as you can get. It should be possible to shorten the sequence in AHK or Phrase Express. (There was a process at one stage to save a clip directly as a note using Win+Shift+S but that doesn't seem to work in my latest version)

HELP- Photos in my Notes don't load
Taylorandtakoda replied to Taylorandtakoda's topic in Evernote General Discussions
Hi , the reason I reposted was because I'm not sure I created this topic in the right forum. Also I cant find that "submit a request" button anywhere. Can you be more specific? @s2sailor -

I search for'ray' and before my recent notes, it's listing a couple of notes from 2018 and 2020, why the heck is it doing that? See attached

allendick started following Clipping screen selections (not web content) direct to Evernote.

One of the most useful functions for me in Legacy has been the clipper. Not the web clipper, which is useful and remains, but the clipper that could select any screen area in any window and would instantly put that clip into Evernote as a note, or, if control was held, into the clipboard, or if shift was held, into a file on the desktop. I used that feature multiple times a day and have not found anything that comes close to replacing that one-step convenience in the current versions. Is there any way to duplicate that simple two-step function without going through multiple steps?

OK, my bad. Thank you for your kind reply as a follow user. You guys spent a lot of time and effort solving issues for other users. You should totally get paid by EN. EN should have a real customer support team other than just request tickets, which only get reply on a weekly basis. I am just user who need to talk to a real customer support person.

Just cancelled my subs after probably a decade of using Evernote. I cannot justify a doubling of the subs. The product has become over-engineered with capabilities way way beyond what I originally enjoyed about it. Sadly, off to Upnote for £29.50 lifetime subs.
