Inserting partial screenshot in existing note

Can't seem to find a way to insert a partial screenshot directly inside an existing note. Am I missing something?

For now I'm using PrintScr, paste in the note, and crop with Annotate.

I could also use Evernote Helper > Clip a screenshot but this creates a new note I have to copy/paste from, and trash.

There should be a better way.

Hi.  Can you take a partial screenshot?  "Capture Screen" in EN Windows Desktop will give you cross-hairs to outline the area you need and (optionally) save it to Clipboard so you can paste it.  ScreenCap in W10 has some problems in that it defaults to Win-Shift-S but that seems to be reserved by the system.  Tools > Options > Shortcut Keys to change it to Ctrl-K (or some other alternative) which does work.

If you're working with existing screen shots,  then open them up in your image-handling software (or a browser) and use Capture Screen to clip the part you want.

I don't have to click Save to Evernote; I can just drag a clipping to an existing note

Can't seem to find Capture Screen on my version of EN Windows Desktop.

All I can find is File > New Note > New Screenshot Note or EN Helper > Clip Screenshot. But both produce new notes and do not insert the screenshot in the existing note.

Ok I found a way.

With either File > New Note > New Screenshot Note or EN Helper > Clip Screenshot, hit CTRL + drag, and then CTRL + V or Paste in the note.

The last part of the dialog that pops up with the tool seem to refer to this but is not well explained "Click and drag a portion of the screen. Click in a window to clip it. Press Control or Shift to modify the destination."

Even easier is to right-click on the taskbar icon and select "Clip screenshot".

"Click and drag a portion of the screen" seems pretty self explanatory: move to the upper left corner of the area you want to clip, hold down the left mouse key, and move to the lower right corner of the area, then let go of the left mouse key.

The rest can be a little confusing. The default action is to send the clipped screen shot into Evernote as a new note. However, if you hold down the Ctrl key while you're dragging, and keep it held down until after you let up on the left mouse key, the clip will go to the Windows clipboard. Conversely, if you hold down the Shift key while you're dragging, and keep it held down until after you let up on the left mouse key, the clip will be written as a file to your desktop. I use the Ctrl- option a lot, as I often prefer to paste the screenshot into a note where I want it to go, rather than as a new note.

Thanks for the tip. EN docs should be updated to reflect this since at the moment it only refers to Evernote Helper in the system tray.

That said having the functionality directly in the EN RMB popup menu would be nice (similar to Insert Table).

That's what I said. The last part of the dialog is confusing. The very first part is clear.
