Improve Note Linking

You can post what you wish. And of course you believe it is fine.

And I can post what I think about it. In this thread I explained how linking works from search results. Then we found out you meant search proposals, worked out it is not the same. We now disagree about whether it makes sense to immediately use a proposal to create a link (you), or to keep it as it is to quickly go to a note, and leave linking to real search results (me).

2 users, 2 opinions. Where is the problem ?

Fine - me neither.

Just about feature requests: We have mixed opinions about how much effect it makes to put things on the EN backlog list.

To reach out to EN there is the feedback function, and the support tickets.

This is indeed confusing to me: this section of the forum is called 'general feature requests'. What is wrong with posting feature requests here ?

What is its purpose if not that what it's name suggests ?

You can certainly post these here. What we often now, however, is that they don't get picked up by Evernote support/Devs. To be sure that your ideas get proper attention use a support ticket or the feedback option in the apps.

I'm OK with the current functionality where you can insert links to other notes via "/" (or via control option command C).

Not ideal, but it works, I'm OK with it

Less ideal is that links/backlinks aren't updated when their titles have been changed (after the initial linking)

Backlinks update for me.

If you have traditional text links, I agree these are not updated. However if you use either of the other two versions (Title or Preview) the text is updated if the title of the target note is changed.

Thanks, you are right

For what it's worth, Amplenote currently has a really good implementation of backlinks inside a note: they live at the bottom of the note, and can be expanded to find out more about the linking note without needing to open it.

As for adding links to notes, the [[ function as used in e.g. Obsidian and Amplenote is the fastest way I've discovered so far.
