Accessing home screen shortcuts

I recently installed my first Evernote shortcut on my home screen. However, whenever I click on the icon, the screen is prompting me to create a note. I click the Evernote back button, which takes me back to my phone home screen. I click on the shortcut icon and now I can see my notes. I would like the notes to be visible the first time I click on the icon. What am I doing wrong?

Thank you for posting and welcome to the forums. Just to make sure that we are on the same page with adding a shortcut to a particular note, please follow the steps mentioned below:

1. Open Evernote on your Android device
2. Press and hold on the note you are wanting to make a shortcut (You will see a checkbox next to the note)
3. Tap on the three dots icon in the top right
4. Select Add to homescreen

After doing this, back out of the Evernote application and close it completely. From there try tapping on that shortcut to see if it goes to the desired note. If not, please let me know the following:

• Android device model that is being used
• Version of the Evernote application
