Character Encoding -- garbled characters after importing html files

Recommended Posts

i recently imported a folder of html files into evernote. The files all came in ok, but with character encoding issues; lots of question marks in black diamonds replacing em and en dashes, curly quotes, etc. i have several hundred files so cleaning them up with find/replace is not an option -- is there a way to change the character encoding used by evernote?

The html files had been batch converted from ms word 2010 files; i am unsure what character encoding was used, but the meta tags in the header are:

<meta http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=windows-1252">
<meta name=Generator content="Microsoft Word 14 (filtered)">

Any help for a newbie is be much appreciated!
