In the Mac OS (see attachment) there's a feature whereby you can interrogate the contents of a file without actually opening it. Please see my attachment.
One simply presses the space bar when a document has been selected and a large preview pops up on screen.
I've carried this habit into my evernote space where I usually have my notes in grid format. Sadly, the feature's not enabled so I have actually double click to open it instead.
It's a little cumbersome and I think the suggestion above will improve the user experience with Evernote.
