Drag and dropped files are uploaded into Evernote?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am new to Evernote.

Question: Are the drag-and-dropped files effectively uploaded into Evernote?

Let's say I have any file in my Windows desktop or file(s) attached to a received email in Outlook 2013 (Windows 10, standalone) inbox. When I drag and drop the file into an Evernote Notebook or Note, the file is uploaded into Evernote's servers? Or the file is not uploaded but only a link is created into Evernote, linking to the file in the desktop or email attachment?

Any advice is welcome!

A simple test you can do yourself will clearly show the behavior.  Drag a file to Evernote, sync, move the original file to a different folder, then open the attachment in Evernote.

Yes, they are added to your local EN database whether you sync or not.  They will be added to your server database if you drag them into a synced notebook.  You can effectively delete the original files once you add them to EN, if you like.
