Not sure which area you want to add to.

The sidebar has Shortcuts, Notebooks, Notes, Tags etc.

it would help if you identify your platform/device since procedures are different for each.

Where would you want to see them listed in the sidebar?
You can list a one-of note in the shortcuts,
For emails in general, you can use a specific notebook, and add the notebook to shortcuts

To show the sidebar and options, I use the View menu, and Sidebar Options
To add a notebook to the shortcuts area, I display the Notebooks Page, and then drag the notebook to the shortcuts area

You can create a search for source:mail.smtp, save it, and put it on your shortcut bar.  Then with one click you should get all notes that you forwarded to EN.  You can create a notebook if you like, but not really needed, particularly if you'd rather have the notes in different notebooks for whatever reason..

How do you create the rule so that e-mails will appear on the sidebar is what I mean

There are no "rules" for the sidebar area. It's a static list. 
The best you can do is a shortcut to your collection of email notes.

You have to decide how you are going to identify your e-mail notes.
I suggested an email notebook; @csihilling suggested a saved search
The entries for Shortcuts are: 
     1. Notebook
     2. Notes
     3. Tags
     4. Search
What do you want to add? (Pick one of the above)

You can see some examples in my Shortcuts screenshot.  
Clicking on these displays a list of notes that I want quick access to.
For example, I have a shortcuts entry !Templates.  This gives me quick quick access to template notes that I've flagged a with tag
