Saving Word documents with images

Recommended Posts

I have Word documents that contain images as well a text.  If I copy the Word document and paste it into a new note only the Text is copied, the document images disappear.  Is there a way to save both text and images in Evernote using copy/paste function or is an attachment the only solution?

You don't say which EN client you are using, but in EN Mac 6.1, this works:

  1. Select All in the Word doc (using MS Word 2011 Mac)
  2. Create New EN Note using the global "Paste to Evernote" shortcut
    1. This shortcut first creates a new Note
    2. Then pastes the clipboard into it
    3. While you'd think it would be the same as a manual paste, I have seen it work differently, usually better.

Can't say for sure if it will work with EN Win, but it's worth a try.

Also, this could be dependent on the image type you have in Word: jpg, gif, png, etc

Yup - should also work in EN Win.  An attached file won't show up inline though,  just as an icon.  If copy/ paste doesn't include the pictures,  try printing to a PDF file and attach the PDF which will show up inline.  If not,  right click the PDF icon and untick 'view as attachment'.
