Steve_S 3 Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Where are the folders (on both Windows & Mac) located on my hard drives that contain all of my (ever)notes?I would like to save an entire year's worth of notes onto an external hard drive allowing for yearly archive storage. In advance, thank you for your assistance with this.

If you're looking to store your notes offline and delete them from your account, you don't need the location of the databases, you need the File > Export option in Evernote. You can do this from any OS. See https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/209005557 Do export notebook by notebook to separate ENEX files, because the notebook source is not included in the exported data. Then, if you wish, delete the exported notes/ notebooks. It might make sense to search for the notes you want to archive and move them to a separate notebook so you can export all of them at one time and then delete the notebook. If the notebooks are not large, you may be able to save them into another 'free' archive account to the content will still be available should you need it.
Steve_S 3 Posted November 6, 2015 Author Posted November 6, 2015 Thank you for your reply, gazumped. In a given year I have thousands of notes in hundreds of notebooks so the 'exporting' option would be a very tedious and time consuming process for me. What I've been doing for the last 5 years is saving my 'steve_s' folder (containing 12 folders & 5 files) to an external hard drive which has been a simple drag and drop process. The size of this folder is typically several GB. The content of my notes generally consists of text, various images, audio & videos files. Up until very recently I was able to locate this folder (which was in a different location on my Windows system and my Mac system). That is no longer the case. This is why I'm specifically asking for the location of that main folder that contains everything. This way if I need to find a specific file from a past year within Evernote, I simply (temporarily) replace the current folder with an older version folder on my hard drive.

The Windows database should be easy to locate - Evernote > Tools > Options > General will confirm, but it should be here: C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Evernote\Evernote\Databases Macs are more difficult (and I'm not a user) but have a look here - https://discussion.evernote.com/topic/67849-mac-data-location/#entry311041(Previously used locations - http://www.christopher-mayo.com/?p=135) These may also be interesting -https://discussion.evernote.com/topic/83503-backup-evernote-whenever-you-want-no-setup-needed/#entry355788https://thisdata.com/
