How do you convert text into a link?

You need to enter a working web address. "accord://" is not a URL protocol

Hey Brian, thanks for responding!

Shouldn't Evernote support all URI Schemes (aka Protocol Type) that are registered on the user's Mac?

For example, "evernote://" is a custom scheme installed by the EN Mac app, and then recognized by other apps.

Another example is the new phone call scheme introduced by Yosemite:

Example:   tel:1-408-555-5555

The "tel:" scheme is now part of Mac OS X, yet Evernote Mac does not recognize it.

Thanks.

By what standard do you determine what URL schemes are allowed and which ones aren't? I assume it's not just a "I feel like I like this one and not that one"? Especially given Evernote also has its own scheme, so you can't be against usage of other schemes? Hence by what standard do you decide?

And besides, if this is your rule, it's still a bug because the web client allows it.

Seems no one has an answer for how to properly work around this. How does one go about escalating this to someone in Evernote who might be able to fix it?

Although I agree that Evernote should support all URL schemes registered on the user's Mac, even if Evernote agrees with you it will take some time before they release an update that fixes your issue.

You have these choices to communicate directly with Evernote:

  1. Submit a bug report
  2. Submit a request via twitter
  3. If you are a Premium account owner:
    1. Submit a request via Support ticket
    2. Submit a request via EN Chat

However, none of those means it is "escalating" your request.  In fact, it most likely means you are starting over at the bottom.

You need to keep in mind that your request is one of many that Evernote receives.

Hi Guys:

Right now Evernote supports the standard Web URL format but not arbitrary URI schemes. Nothing is actually broken, so you are talking about a feature request, not a bug. Submitting a support ticket will not result in a new product feature in the short term, though new ideas are constantly being evaluated by the product team and they monitor these discussion threads for ideas as well as issues.

The OP pasted an image for an input box that is labeled "Enter web address for this link" - the purpose of the input box is to accept a supported external web page. it will not work to link to a local URI, or if it does work, the link may have inconsistent results in various Evernote clients. The web link format is the only fully supported protocol for use inside the body of a note at this time.

As an alternate option, the Source Link of a note can contain any type of link that you like. It may be possible to use this field to input a non-supported URI, but you would need to experiment to see if it meets your needs.

Best,

Brian

Brian, this is a bit confusing.  Previously we had been led to believe that submitting a support ticket was the best way to request new features.

If that is no longer the case, then it begs the question, what is the best way to submit a feature request so that we know it is properly recognized by Evernote?

JMichael, I don't intend to generate confusion. If you've been told to use the bug report as a form of feature request then by all means please continue.

Obviously not a controlled/planned /considered feature.

That is probably the case.

Brian, I didn't say, nor did I mean, that we should submit a "bug" report for feature requests.

When you start a Support Ticket, there is a choice for the type of ticket at the top.

One choice is for "Using Evernote or Other Questions".  Of the choices provided, that seems like the best choice for a feature request.

Seems like it would be better to have an explicit choice for "Feature Request", and make this available to all users.
