Printing Merged Clipped Documents

I'm having trouble with merged clipped documents.  I can merge them OK, but I can't print BOTH them.

 

For example, I have merged doc 1 and doc 2 to produce doc 1-2.  I can print either doc 1 or doc 2, but not doc 1-2.  There is a vertical bar that shows up to the right of the doc (either 1 or 2), depending on where my cursor is.  How do I make that vertical bar encompass the entire document (doc 1-2)?
